Elena chuckled softly, âIâm not that wiser, and if I really am, I do have a great example to look up toâ, she said and punched his shoulder lightly. Alaric had not only trained her to be stronger and a fighter, he also gave her the feeling of having a family, after all tragedies that came up Jeremy and her. She smiled listening to him. She had thought the exact same thing. If she hadnât called her parents to pick her up, would they still be alive? Would she be happy? Would she ever meet Damon and Stefan, and faced all the challenges of knowing the supernatural. That was something sheâd never know, and to be honest, she let go of that thought. She learned how to enjoy her present, how to cheerish the people in her life, and bring peace and comfort in times of need. Tears welled her eyes, and she pursed her lips, âCâmon Ric⊠You donât want to make me cry, do you?â, she looked down and sighed. âTecnically, youâre my stepfather, since you were married to Isobelâ, she smirked, âBut even if you werenât. Youâre like a dad to me. Having you walking down the aisle on my wedding felt so right. I wouldnât want anyone else than you and Jer to walk me into this chapter of my lifeâ, she smiled, âI know⊠It really sucks. But, geez, I donât even know how to say it before sounding like a lunatic, but⊠Do you believe in angels?â
Ric gave a small chuckle at the punch, sometimes he didnât feel he was wise at all or at least not in the right areas even if he was. âGod no, if you cry pretty sure I will and no one wants that..-â he gave a teasing grin, though it soon fell short. It was nice to have something, sure it didnât completely take the pain away but he really wouldnât give up the life he had because it meant he got to be there for her and Jer, that he had a family and that was what counted. âGiven weâre both vampires Elena, that weâre in a world where that exists..itâd be crazy not to believe...or maybe iâm a lunatic too.â
