Adventures of a Baby, V. 3
The larvae had been crawling around the base looking for sustenance, or a host for what felt like a millennium. While in actuality only a matter of hours, the little wyrm was starting to feel the effects of being without a host. It finally came to halt, flopping on its side in exhaustion. Its parent’s command still rang in its mind, too deafening to resist (as much as the wyrm would have liked to).
The clank, clank, clank of approaching footsteps caused the little wyrm to cease its pathetic whimpering. It flared its mandibles, tasting the air, and was met with the metallic tang of metal. The other creatures that the larvae had encountered in this place were afflicted with the taint of light, and the young wyrm had been much too young and weak to fight them and subject them to its will. Perhaps if they had had a deal with the wyrm gods or the taint of darkness....
But whatever this creature was, it was a blank slate. It carried neither light nor dark, only the clanking of mechanical parts. On the verge of death, this was the only plausible host the larvae had thus encountered. As the noise approached, the wyrm rolled itself back to its feet and prepared to attack. As the patrolling redjack turned the corner, it didn’t even have time to analyze the situation before a screeching larvae was launching itself at the frame.

I am impressed by your discernment; you are gifted with the ability of ‘stating the obvious,’ as you lowly cretins so put it.
Adventures of a Baby, V. 2
The young larvae that had followed Shiro home had managed to squirm to the safety of a garbage bin. Being separated from a host was starting to wear on the young wyrm, but the rotting remnants of half-eaten meals was enough to curb their appetite. For a matter of hours, that was. There was a loud crunch as the larvae bit through the bottom of the bin, snapping the plastic and sending its contents spilling across the room. All that was left were a few candy wrappers left sticking to the larvae’s moist skin.
With an irritated squeak, the larvae started to squirm across the floor, following the scent of its target, Shiro.
i hope all this worm positivity isn’t irony. like i hope u all truly appreciate worms and aren’t doing this for the jokes :^/

Adventures of a Baby
The larvae that had attached itself to Shiro’s cloak remained hidden as long as possible, but it was not meant to exist outside a host. After only a matter of hours, the hunger and exposure began to wear on the little creature. Out of desperation, it started to feast on the hunter’s cape. As sustenance, though, the fabric was useless. After only a few bites, the weakened creature fell to the ground with an audible plop. It gave a quiet hiss of protest as it plummeted.
💜 - hateship ( they hate each other but can’t stay away ) - (But not in a sexual way, just 'you have a larvae following you everywhere' way)
Gross. Dude, why did you have to—
You know what?
I’m going to do it.
Yeah. I’m doing it.

The moment never ended as Toland could only begin to conspire as to what exactly he saw and how to approach this mighty beast who shook worlds with their laugh. Such a beast could easily snuff him out like a candle against a hurricane and yet the wyrm humors the mans presence because they will it.. Rarely do things make him stand still in the face of absolute fear and yet here he was. A guest in both death and life, the Warlock blinked between the crumbling cave to avoid a messy death. Once the dust settled beneath his boots Toland gave a graceful bow to such a foe. A sign of respect? No. A sign of fear that he hopes to pass of as respect.
“Most of my people do not understand what lies beyond their doorstep and yet I only know a fraction of that secret and with that secret, my mind, shattered like the throne of the once Taken king. Will you not enlighten a student of your logic?” He held fast to the reality that bound him out of his world for a quick get away but still kept his presence known for as long as he could.
Thwack. The wyrm lashed their tail against the floor, causing a small earthquake. If they had eyes to narrow, they would have. Instead, the wyrm leaned closer and huffed at Toland, their breath as molten as lava and as rank as festering rot. While not enough to kill their visitor, the heat of their exhalation caused the very air to shimmer. Their jaws clicked and snapped threateningly.
“You wish to gorge yourself upon my wisdom? To be satiated? What have you done to earn that power? Bring forth your tithe, and perhaps I will consider granting a boon,” Yul hissed.
This shattered creature, still young and new on its exploration of the Sword Logic, should at least know the cost of communing with a wyrm. Power was gained through tithing; that had always been the arrangement. Knowledge, too, was a sort of power, and Yul expected a sacrifice in kind. Deaths were the most common form of tithe, but there were others the wyrm may accept.
“If you have come to bargain, speak quickly. You try my patience.”

The wyrm had made their intentions clear earlier; if Yul had any thought of chasing after Shiro, they would already be consumed. Instead, they focused on finishing the rest of their ‘meal.’ Crunch, snap, pop. The noises were wet, mushy, when combined with the wyrm’s stomach acid and saliva.
Now too busy eating to bother with their amusing company, Yul sent a command to one of the nearby thralls tasked with tending to their needs and desires. Yul’s thoughts echoed through the hive mind, causing the nearby acolytes and thralls to chitter and hiss in unison. The thrall that had been singled out for this mission dug its claws into the rocky walls of the burrow, climbing past piles of gristle, filth, and mingling hive at impossible speeds.
Shiro, watching the wyrm at its meal, may or may not notice the thrall barreling towards him. As it came within range, the thrall let out an anguished squeal. It’s carapace split open with a deafening crack, a tiny creature flinging itself free of the thrall’s body. Yul had chosen this particular thrall for a reason. It was still young, its larvae no more than a newborn and easy to miss. If the larvae got half the chance, it would grasp onto Shiro’s cloak and start to bury itself in the fabric.
The only way to make something good is to make something that can’t be broken. And the only way to do that is to try to break everything. I’m glad I learned that the universe runs on death. It’s more beautiful to know.“
Oryx doodles and a pointy consort for Zonoth!
“For twenty thousand years they fought across the moons and they fought in the abyssal plains and lightning palaces of each other’s sword spaces. And they killed each other again and again, so that they could practice death. Such was their love.”
Oryx and (my version of) his terrible sisters. For while I am in this awful love-hate relationship with the Destiny games themselves, I’m actually a huge fan of Hive lore. The Books of Sorrow has got to be my favorite villain backstory of all time.
