Magical girl barbarian who transforms with rage. Is this anything?
who did this to me
Going from being an introverted lurker on reddit to trying to post my own stuff here is so wild. I keep typing out a post, deleting it, then retyping because I think it's not good enough but then I look at other posts and why am I so worried?
It's like I'm at a fancy Italian restaurant and keep glancing around the room to see which hand people use to pick up the forks. But then I realize that everyone is shoveling spaghetti into their mouths using their bare hands and I'm like ah okay so I'm clearly overthinking this
This restaurant is absolute chaos and I'm giving it 5 stars
@rippledragon linked this to me and a good time is being had.
no i dont want to ‘ask chatgpt’ i want to go to a wikipedia page and spend half an hour reading an article like a real person
sorry to be part of the elitist intelligentsia but i do think you have to read the text you have an opinion on if you expect your opinion to be taken seriously
"they should teach media literacy in schools" english class "they should teach students how to spot misinformation" it's english class "they should teach kids critical thinking" it's called english class
Any of the humanities, but English is the only one in all anglophone countries that’s mandatory.
@thatlowvice
beavers have the lifestyle that most children dream of. dig and travel through underwater canals. dam a river and flood the local woodlands. stomp mud into dam to seal. swim to flooded trees and destroy them. live in a secret hideout with a underwater entrance. full ownership over an engineering project
Thought this was fitting for the current events
Starting my Buffy rewatch. I always forget that everything starts with Darla. Sometimes I think of her mostly as backstory for Angel, and that's so not fair.
I knew I would immediately get all googly-eyed over how Babyface they all are, but good god. Even Giles looks like he's younger than me.
Honestly Joyce really is the best person on this show isn't she? Just all around kind and lovely and trying so hard.
I just now got that she says she burned down the gym cuz it was full of asbestos. Asbestos. Lord.
It's so wild to think that this kind of conversation was brand new.
Also the stake she drops in the hallway is like, massive. And very poorly made if I may say so. They really improved wooden stake technology throughout the seven seasons.
Man, Charisma Carpenter was marvelous right from the beginning too. Never going to stop being angry about how everything went down with her.
I'm so annoyed that we never see that giant VAMPYR text again. Such a tome.
Oh man I forgot that Joyce ran an art gallery. God what a lost opportunity there. All kinds of weird art and stuff, they really could have done more interesting stuff with that.
Man Whedon really loved the fake out, didn't he? I mean I know it's one of his signatures and one of the things that Buffy made it to an institution, but twice in the first episode is an awful lot.
I do love the gymnastics move she pulls off, though.
And we pause on our first shot of the Bronze to remember when teenagers actually had third spaces to go to. Anyone remember underage clubs? Dance clubs for 16 to 20 year olds.
I heard a couple of great shitty high school bands and a lot of top 40 hits at the one in my old hometown. Teenagers really need a place to do stupid shit like dance with a crush and shotgun diet coke.
All that talk about vampires and dangerous stuff and Buffy ends up having to improvise a weapon? Not even a pencil in your sock there, babe?
Man this language is so iconic. Both "what is your childhood trauma?" And "excuse me I have to go call everyone I've ever known" have permanent places in my vocabulary.
" Luke... bring me something.... young." NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE
I always loved how Buffy would unload most of her ranting and venting on the vampires she's killing. At least she knew they'd never talk.
Other Greek Heroes and whether they'd look back at Eurydice
Heracles: No, he wouldn't look back. Partly because he's smart enough to know it wouldn't change anything, and partially because he knows the Gods well enough that Hades keeps his word. Eurydice gets out and they high five. Unfortunately he misjudges the strength of his high five and Eurydice spends her first couple of weeks back to life with her arm in a cast.
Jason: Oh yeah. This dumbass looks behind him before he leaves Hades throne room and then loudly insists that NO HE DIDN'T HE TOTALLY DIDN'T AND IS HE DID IT WASN'T HIS FAULT IT'S EURYDICE'S FAULT! Eurydice is just like "maybe I'm better off here."
Perseus: Nope. He's a good boi who pays attention and blindfolds himself to make sure he doesn't, feeling his way along the path to make sure he doesn't trip. It takes him longer to get out, but they DO get out.
Theseus: Actually they do get out. Not because Theseus is smart enough to not look back or anything but because he's too self important to look back. The moment she steps outside the Underworld, Eurydice is running at top speed and Theseus never bothers to check to see if she's still following.
Odysseus: He cheats, using a polished mirror to keep track of her through the reflection the way Perseus kept track of Medusa. Unfortunately because he thought he outsmarted the system he fails to look where he's going, looses his footing, the mirror, and accidentally looks back anyway. Too clever for his own good, he was the architect of his own failure.
Achilles: He doesn't even bother asking. Full fire in his fury he fights Hades, wins, and takes Euridyice away his own way. Unfortunately, he can only bring her back as a shade without the Lord of the Dead's permission. It only brings him greater sorrow.
not buying the product isn't enough I need the company to know their advertising made me want to kill them with a golf club.
Whenever you're on a plane that is going to Los Angeles, there's always at least one person wearing a stupid hat.
