Things haven't been so great on my end for a variety of reasons, but I'm hoping with school coming back I can return to a good structure for my time (and use a distraction). I've loved seeing Amara's and Galen's friendship throughout her route! I am saddened that we don't see as much of it during their own route but I can understand why - they, MC and their crew is away from Altadellys and Lysende for most of their route.
I also like how they have to pull her down to their height to kiss her forehead since she's 6'3" and they're 5'9"-

100DaysofWriting - Day 19
Choosing WIPs
How do I decide what to work on? It’s whatever I feel like working on in the moment, I think. Now, I don’t constantly jump between WIPs based solely on feelings. For my vampire hunter WIP I wanted to work on other things because I just had the burning desire to do so (and, well, I do have favourite characters that I create :3), but I stuck with it because I was halfway done a character sheet and needed to finish it. I then decided, “Well, if I’ve done the character sheet for a dhampir, why don’t I do the monster sheet for dhampirs? Their design is already in my head, so why not go for it?” So I filled that in, and since vampires and dhampirs are so similar, I did the vampire monster sheet as well.
You kind of have to just go with the flow, I think. You can’t force ideas out, and if you really don’t want to work on one thing in particular, that’s ok too. This isn’t supposed to be a shitty process you dread doing. It’s supposed to fun! And difficult at times, yes, but I’m pretty sure we all write because we like doing it, not because it’s another chore we have to get done in our day.
I saw a screencapped tweet recently about how farmers rotate crops to prevent destruction of the land, to keep it fertile, etc. The person said that creatives can work the same way. To prevent burnout, or wanting to keep things fresh, rotating WIPs/ideas/etc can help make writing and creating easier. That’s the approach I’m trying to take. I think it’s excellent advice.
(Unfortunately I can’t find the tweet as I saw it on tumblr, and I don’t have twitter so I can’t look for it there, either. Alas.)

100DaysofWriting - Day 18
Daydreaming
This is a weird feeling, but I don’t actually like discussing my daydreams and things until I come up with more concrete ideas. I don’t actually like sharing ideas unless I really believe I’ll follow through on them. It feels a little too personal, a little too intimate, to share those thoughts with someone. I don’t know. Does that make me weird?
And, you know, this isn’t the same as discussing a WIP. A WIP is a “work in progress”, meaning it’s already been started. I’ve already put a lot of thought into it, no matter how far down the creative pipeline I am. It feels more...shareable.
However, in the spirit of the challenge and of today’s question, I will talk about a couple of fic ideas I have. The first one is just a look into Roman’s character and his love for MC, during a scene from Runa’s S1. Basically, Runa wants to make MC feel a little better about being kept from home so she asks Roman to make a plate of comforting human food. Another blogger asked “What if Roman is in love with MC in every route, the way Alex Cyprin is in love with MC in every Astoria: Fate’s Kiss route?” and of course my brain went wild haha. I love tragic moments like that, and the pain and angst of watching the person you love fall for someone else while they have absolutely zero memory of you.
Another idea is actually a long fic- Well. I say “long”, but really it would only be about 6 chapters or so, which actually is long for me! I write one-shots so the idea of plotting out something longer and breaking things up into chapters and writing it all... It’s more than a little daunting. But I’ve wanted to write longer pieces for so long now, and I feel like it’s a good introduction to it. A smaller project to get a feel for things, the process, etc. Basically it would be an “origin story” of sorts for Amara, before the assassination attempts on the Queens, the War of Succession, and Amara’s immortality. I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about her and her route (complex ones, too), and this is kind of my way of thinking them through and processing them. I just...have zero idea how to outline.
So yeah. I’ve spent some spare time dreaming up these little scenarios and how they would play out. In the RP fic, that includes different scenes and bits of dialogue (some I’ve already written out). It’s fun.
I've started to re read Amara's route and seeing Lyris act such a way (arrogant, condescending,proud and haughty) towards MC is just absolutely painful considering the absolute friendliness and eventual love and devotion he shows during his own.
Though it does have me thinking: if Lyris didn't meet MC in her tavern, if they didn't talk and then sleep together and establish somewhat of a connection...would he of acted like he does in Amara's route if she had met him in the palace first?
It's very interesting seeing how characters are written in other routes by different writers. Also, since Amara was the first LI released in this brand new series, I'm sure personalities were still being finalized for the side characters/potential future LIs.
I love that question you asked though. I think it's easy to forget how Lyris hides those depths behind that haughty veneer and a desire to party, because in his own route he's so tender and caring with MC. He's seen and experienced an incredible amount of pain and hurt in his life, so I'm not surprised to see this.
But yes. Flirty and loving Lyris is best Lyris.
