So the fish earrings are the cause of the issue with the “leak” to give them away, but it’s actually because the piercing was done on such an impulse that he just picked anywhere and the earring is not good quality so his ear is swollen and painful and ZZ says they should swap it out for a different one so he brought a selection of his over to pick from and the fish earrings is unique. Honestly, when I read that part in the book I was like, why don’t you literally explain it that he had a sore ear and borrowed an earring from a co-worker/friend, would that be that weird? Don’t be too emotional should be called there’s something about Jane because it seems like they are leading us to the conclusion that his bestie is secretly pining for him, then we have the senior who has obviously liked him before he knew him, and then we have Big Jane who is fascinated with him.

I also think it’s interesting how the show wants us the see the obvious editing and music cues to “Big Jane is the bad guy manipulating him” but at the same time both the other 2 men who are interested in Jane managed to paint his boyfriend a certain way and break them up and make him question everything about the relationship. Neither of them made any moves until he was with someone else.

Since I have learned about fawning responses I feel like so much makes sense now, but I wish I could remember or pin point when this happened to me.
