One of the things I deeply appreciate about stories like Life in Smokey Blue is how much they speak to the meaning of ordinary life. Sure, we all have fun with watching our escapist fantasies, but at the end of the day it's still reality that we live in. And series like this are the ones that come hold our hand, and say, "hey, we know life can be hard and sometimes you're gonna have really bleak moments. But also there's so much love and sweetness and connection, even in the tiniest of little ways. Maybe you'll help a coworker and they smile every time they see you. Maybe you'll check on your mom and she'll talk about the roses. Maybe you'll find something you never really thought you'd have when you were younger, and if you hadn't hung around, you wouldn't have ever found it. I'm starting hawaii five-O obviously for mcdanno, but early season 2 is pissing me off so bad! I was so fond with their found family dynamic in the 1st season... but when Kono lost her badge, there's no single scene where the boys (except Chin ofc) come together to comfort her? instead we got new white chick (who i got the feeling will be another steve's love interest) to fill in her place and they just went along with it at the end?? Danny even got time to develop a crush with one of their resources?

then when they found out Kono involved in some shady criminal they got mad and steve has the nerve to even questioning Chin on why Kono didn't come to them before it got too far? like hello dude?? how about you guys being there for her in the first place??? I know at the end of ep5 he punched the IA guy who messed with Kono, but im sorry it just wasn't enough to get me back with the found family trope they show us in the prev season
