This tumblr fat acceptance bullshit is basically pro-ana for morbidly obese people. Weighing too much or too little is unhealthy, and people should stop glorifying it. If you want to glorify a body type, you should aim to glorify fitness and being fit, not severely overweight or severely underweight.

Yeah and like I get that people who are like 20 or 30 pounds over weight may not be able to help that and they deserve to be accepted. And the first model is probably healthy enough so this isn’t really about her. I’m kind of talking about the other two.

But when you’re 300 pounds it’s not “oh I just have a bigger body type.” At that point your weight is totally controllable. You aren’t obese because of your “body type” you’re obese because you eat way too much processed junk food and don’t get enough exercise. And that is totally not okay and you need to fix that because you are hurting yourself AND other people are paying your medical expenses through higher insurance rates.

So if you think “oh it’s my life I can be as unhealthy as I want it’s not your business” think again because when you go into the doctor because you’re having heart/joint/lung/bone/liver/blood problems, it’s going to be healthy people paying for it through their higher insurance rates, and that IS their business. Nobody deserves to pay higher medical insurance rates because you are too lazy to go for a run every now and then or because you’re not disciplined enough to eat a salad instead of Oreos.

It’s not alright to shame obese people or be rude to them or make them hate themselves. But it’s also not alright to just let yourself go like that at the expense of others and yourself. Obese people need to know that their lifestyle isn’t a good one and that just because it’s a choice doesn’t make it a good choice. Let’s promote change instead of promoting obesity.
