The Chief knows the sound of Zoya's footsteps by now, the heavy stomp of boots, the long strides between steps. The shackles grow warm, the fondness between her and Zoya does not need to be spoken. They had been through so much together; shackles or not, their souls were intertwined.
Zoya doesn't knock, she simply pushes the door open, making herself known by calling out to the Chief.
"Still slumped over that desk?" She puts her hands on her hips, cocking her head to the side. "You really need to get out more, Chief."
The Chief stretches, knocking over a stack of papers as she does. "I know, but I can't leave all the work for Nightingale. She is already working overtime trying to fix my mistakes on the last mission…”.
Zoya rolls her eyes. "I would help you out here, but I’ve never been good with this bureaucratic shit." Zoya smiles wolfishly, then puts a gloved hand on Chief’s shoulder. “Least I can do is provide you a little distraction.”
“Oh? And what did you have in mind?” The Chief’s heart races at the suggestion.
“Some of my Legion buddies got their hands on a nice new car. Why don’t you and I go on a little drive?”
Chief recalls what the Legion often did with their cars — demolition derbies often had vehicles in better shape. She wishes Zoya had suggested literally anything else.
It’s as if Zoya can read Chief’s mind. “Don’t worry, I promise not to be too reckless. I can’t go damaging the pretty girl in my passenger seat, now could I?”

Chief often finds NOX wandering aimlessly around the MBCC gardens.
She had been banned from going to most wards in MBCC. Her powers meant she was a danger to others; if NOX slipped out of control for a moment’s time, it would be disastrous for everyone.
The gardens seemed to be NOX's only reprieve. No one would visit if word got out that she had been seen near them. Even the most powerful of sinners gave her a wide berth.
NOX picks a dandelion from the edge of the flower bed. The bright yellow flower quickly withers in her palm. NOX watches the petals fall through her fingers, staring as if entranced.
“NOX?” Chief lets herself be known, “Are you looking for something?”
“I… like the yellow ones. They're warm, like a sunset.”. A quiet voice comes from within the vessel. Without thinking, Chief calls out to Amber, wondering if the girl she saw within her dreams was back, if for a moment. Amber does not reply.
NOX stands, and the echo of all the souls within her resumes. "I was lost."

Hecate sits on the edge of the bathtub, watching as the water turns from clear to a light red. If only Hecate had been more diligent last battle; she can't help but blame herself for every new wound on her Chief's body.
She takes in the sight and commits it to memory. She will be better next battle.
"Chief, don't move," Hecate's voice is soft, "let me help you. You don't want to exert yourself anymore." She takes the washcloth out of Chief's hand, and gently starts scrubbing at her face.
Chief's cheeks are pink — whether it was from the steam from the bath, or from Hecate's steely eyes on her naked body, Chief isn't even sure herself.
"Hecate, why are so nice to me?" Hecate returns the cloth to the water, wrings it out, turns Chief's chin gently with the tips of her fingers. Like touching Chief's skin directly would burn her up. "I lead you into so much danger, and you follow anyways..."
"I don't need a reason." She's honest, as she always is. "It is because you are you, Chief. Wherever you go, Hecate will follow."

Nightingale's briefings were always tedious, but even worse was the debriefing after a long mission. Chief, Hella, and Hecate were nothing but aching limbs and tattered clothing and still Nightingale lectured on.
Hella always said it was her way of punishing Chief for always being so reckless. Chief couldn't help but agree.
Tonight, more than any other night, Hella just can't keep her eyes open. It's not like she usually tried very hard, anyways.
...Chief's chest looks so nice and comforting. It wasn't at big as Ninety-Nine's, but it'd do for a nice nap. Hella lays down her head on Chief's chest, using what's left of her jacket as a blanket. The sinner isn't stupid, she fully expects Chief to shake her awake, but that never comes.
Hella swears she hears the Chief bid her goodnight as she drifts into slumber.

Hours later, when Hella wakes up, she finds herself back in her cell, tucked into bed. Maybe she has been giving Chief too much of a hard time lately.

"Stay still," Chief mumbles, needle sheathed between her teeth. "I'll try to get this done quickly; this might sting a little."
Ninety-Nine does not flinch as the needle sticks into her skin, weaving in and out up the large gash up her thigh. This wound was the only remnant of the corruptors that had tried to hurt her Hella, and her Chief earlier that day.
"...Is Hella alright?" Ninety-Nine asks, watching as Chief pulls the medical thread through, tightening it until the wound closes. She hardly feels it at all.
"Yes, Hella is fine. She's with Hecate." Chief's words are clipped, tying off the end of the stitch rougher than needed. "You should worry about your own wounds. Hella cares just as much about you as you do her, you know."
"My own body does not matter. As long as Hella is okay, I am okay." Such nonchalant disregard for her own life — Chief now understands why Hella was so often angry with her.
"You matter to Hella, you matter to me." The Chief rubs her thumb down the inside of her thigh, brushing over the inside of the stitches. Ninety-Nine grits her teeth at the gentle touch. "Take care of yourself, that's an order."
Ninety-Nine hates the fiery look in Chief's eyes when she commands that of her. It's like the light of the sun, and Ninety-Nine fears that she does not belong in its glow.

Countess Chelsea runs her brush through Chief's hair. It felt nice to do something so small for the Chief who saved her life.
Chelsea was also selfish, she wanted to always monopolize her Chief's time.
"My dear Chief, you must let me wash your hair sometime." She tilts her head, looking into the Chief's eyes in the mirror. "I have plenty of the nicest shampoos imported in for my personal use, I wouldn't mind getting them for you as well."
"You know I don't have time for too much pampering," Chief sighs, closing her eyes as Chelsea puts the brush down, and starts to brush out her hair with her fingers. "This is good enough for me."
Chelsea smiles, genuine, and tucks a strand of Chief's hair behind her ear. The sinner lowers her voice, "...You like my touch, Chief?"
Chief can feel her grin against her skin. Chelsea wanted to see how far she could push her without her reacting.
Instead of pushing off her advances like usual, Chief decides to give Chelsea what she wants. It's not like Chief didn't enjoy the attention — if she were not the head of MBCC, she would've given in a long time ago.
Chief takes Chelsea's hand and places it on her cheek, nuzzling closer. "Yes, it is nice. Thank you for this, Chelsea."
If you’re looking to play Path to Nowhere and don’t want to drop lots of money on the gacha elements, no worries. Like most gacha games, they shower you with freebie tickets for getting characters early on, from there even if you get zero S-Class Sinners, the A & B tier are still super solid. You just have to have the right team, so let’s go over it!
First thing’s first, PtN is essentially a tower defense game, so at the beginning of each mission you’ll place your Sinners to block enemy units as they spawn and advance towards you, the Chief. Different maps and missions usually demand different arrangements of your units, and in some cases you might need to invest in leveling up a new Sinner whose abilities might be better suited to solving the issue.
Let’s assume absolute shite luck and you have no S-class and start with the basics.
You automatically receive two A-Class and three B-Class Sinners during the early missions: Hella, Hecate, Wendy, Labyrinth, and Emp. They make a perfect core to build around.
Hecate is best girl. You need her. Get her to level 70 and Phase 3 ASAP. As you level her up she will gain the ability to spit out an extra unit capable of blocking two units and being able to break two enemy cores, which are how you kill bosses and heavy units because it stuns and weakens them.
Wendy & Hella are a bomber of a front line. Wendy can slice up hordes since her ultimate hits a wide area around her, and Hella’s ulti causes her to attack faster and double-attack. In addition, Hella regenerates so she can take a beating.
EMP is an archer with one of the longest attack ranges in the game, her ultimate also breaks a core. She’s good at getting distant picks but her output is a little low, so she is one of the replaceable characters. Labyrinth is an assassin-type, and her ultimate also breaks cores and can move her around the map freely. As a rule of thumb, core-breakers are good boss killers but not much else. So you want to have a good balance. I find that Hecate plus one additional breaker is sufficient for boss-killing.
Support: do not skimp on having a support on your team, it’s tempting to stack damage but they are absolutely necessary. If Hella is on your frontline, use Machiatto. She’s a B-class Healer, and Hella multiplies healing she gets. Machi also buffs her allies she heals as she levels up, and can perform some solid partywide healing later on. She should absolutely be your 6th member in a B-Class lineup.
Replacements: EMP & Labyrinth are replaceable if you want. If you replace Labyrinth it should be with Gekkabijin, another assassin, and whose ulti breaks two cores on hit. EMP should be swapped out with Kelvin, who has solid AOE and most crucially a move speed debuff for enemies around her, giving your team more time to beat face.
Mind you all the above advice is to build a lineup out of your two guaranteed A-Class and easily obtainable B-Class that you’ll get a ton of with your freebie draws. Most likely you’ll get at least one S-Class, but you still want to level Hecate first because you get so much value out of her since she both breaks cores and spits out a defender eventually. If you get Anne, an A-Class Healer, level her up IMMEDIATELY because her healing is so strong, and gives your team a ton of staying power.
Summer is an S-Class that is the best ranged damage dealer in the game. Nox is another S-Class melee who is the best melee frontliner.
Other than that, there are a lot of combos if you have a wide pool of Sinners, but decide early because upgrade resources are scarce later on. Settle on a strategy, pick six sinners as your wrecking crew with maybe one other with a different ability set as a substitute to change up your playstyle.
I was going through the beginning of the game and saw a random name
Tbh I thought nothing of it when I first played because I was too excited to save for Stargazer, but when I saw that scene again I thought about the trailer as well.
The name Rebecca is shown as someone who escaped the MBCC.
The most obvious answer would be Suspect R. Both have R in their name, it seems fitting.
But then I'm also confused on actually who Rebecca is.
In a 'Special Attention' line of Lisa's, as she normally berates the chief she talks about a painting labeled Rebecca. Normally it wouldn't have caused questioned if not for it being italicized.
But then I remember we actually see this painting.
In the game, Eastside is where all the wealthy and more comfortable living people come from. And to start we can assume she is probably from a wealthy background.
But that's beside the point, this makes me even more curious as to who she really is.
What I'm thinking is Suspect R and Rebecca are probably the same person. I just hope she doesn't die off and is playable

1) Your English is probably better than you think it is. I’ve read many posts that ended with something along the lines of “sorry for my bad English” and was surprised because it was worded exactly the way a native English speaker would word it.
2) The main purpose of language is to communicate. Even if communication is a little awkward, as long as we can understand what the other person is trying to say, there’s no need for it to be perfect.
3) You speak English better than I can speak your language.
5) Being able to speak a second language at all is a huge achievement and something most of the people ragging on “bad English” are incapable of themselves. You’re doing great.
I hear a lot of people bitching that they can’t leave kudos multiple times per story, or can’t leave kudos on every chapter, or whatever.
Well, take a page out of this marvelous book, because I swear I’ve never been so happy to receive kudos as waking up to multiple people having done this on multiple chapters on a story I just posted.
