To the lady at the pool. To the lady at the pool, Today when I saw you come into the pool I really wanted to say hello. I don't often feel comfortable or draw to other mums but you smiled kindly at me and I smiled back. We looked back and forth at each other with tentative smiles while you gently swished your tiny bubba around. It's lovely to sometimes just observe another mother and see the love pour from themselves into another. I kept thinking maybe I should introduce myself and say hello. You were also there with just a babe like me. After a while Luna moved over to where you were and we smiled again. In my awkward way tried to join in your conversation with another unknown mum. We successfully introduced our children, but never ourselves. Finally you were brave enough to start a conversation. I wondered if you felt as lost in motherhood as I did when Luna was that small. Did you also need a friend? Another mum who understands? But it was time for us to leave for our lesson and I said goodbye and hopefully see you next week. And I really hope I do. Maybe then I'll be brave enough to start a conversation. Maybe I'll try to be the one to break the ice. Mama friends are hard to come by. Hopefully see you next week, Luna's mum.
