Hear me out. They made Jax abstract because they wasted so much time making him angsty evil and whatever, that they straight up cowered away from applying ANY accountability towards Jax or make his character progress in the slightest, faintest bit possible aside from being tolerable and sad.

They realized that they gave him so much to work on and make up to, with so little time that they decided to avoid it altogether. Not to mention how the script was already fucked due to how hard they babied Jax during the WHOLE SHOW. Not once did they get on his victim's side, much less let them feel rightfully mad, furious—not even a little closure or anything.

Just almost half an hour of Jax being an asshole who's backstory is just "so sad and sympathetic", that he's kicked out of the narrative without EVER feeling remorse for what he's done. Not even once did anyone force him to realize how much harm he was continuously causing for no reason at all.

It's not just bad because Jax remained an asshole who never felt bad about anything he ever did, it's even worse because no one that endured all his tormenting got the chance to actually confront him and let him know how they felt, get closure, as I said.

No. They're just sidelined, and at best, forced to stand his obnoxious ass bullying the same three people just because Pomni (a terrible fucking enabler in retrospective) convinced everyone that he's "part of the group".

The whole show, despite whatever it's theme is, remains an INMENSE abuse, misogyny and queerphobia/queermisia apologia.

hi, filipino here. just want to say that our independence day is june 12, not july 4. july 4 is when the united states government decided that they would recognize our freedom, specifically because it is your independence day and they wanted to cement their cultural hegemony over our country. and because of their influence on our country this was recognized for a time as our independence day. we still commemorate it, but i hope you can understand why we don’t want our independence day to be associated so closely with our former colonizer. it wasn’t even a work holiday for us.

june 12 is the day that we filipinos declared our own independence for ourselves, and that is what we celebrate as independence day

So... I've heard that they're dropping pride merch tomorrow. And I have no idea if it'll be more Hazbin than Helluva. But I'll suppose that there'll surely be Hazbin merch due to season 2 and such.

I have some edits for the occasion! They're not exactly good edits. Just a in very unserious, very petty spirit lol. These gems have been rotting in my camera roll for MANY months now. As always, they're free to use^^ (can credit if u want but it's not necessary)

As a side note, I get how it "thematically consistent" for Angel to be separated, and he was apparently not included with the whole hotel crew in the valentine's keychain? (Or anywhere at all since I think he wasn't with any group) But that's just flimsy. It's literally pride merch, who cares. And why should he be the only character portrayed as uncomfortable whilst everyone is happily there? Even no one seems to mind the existence of Adam being there. Just saying that it's so irrelevant and exclusive to angel dust that it's just undoubtedly poor taste.

Anyways! Rants and mild disappointment aside, I kinda appreciate that in a show FILLED to the brim with queer characters of multiple labels, they can let some characters just be ambiguously gay/queer whilst not being straight allies.

I'm probably the only one who thinks that but anyways. I have no strong feelings towards it tbh

(Probably because I'm mostly disappointed at how they always refuse to have any sort of making character being trans or non binary bc no Sallie May does not count she's a sporadic token character)

(Equally important but honorary mention to all trans!Baxter/intersex!Baxter enjoyers out there. Don't let canon control you <3)

Omg if Sera gets pushed aside for whatever reason I SWEAR that there's a curse only endemic to lesbian characters.

Anyways, it's nice that she's lesbian but knowing all about Spindlehorse, I get the feeling that they made it against the "any lesbian characters from the show are one-note and possess no depth" kind of arguments. Hench why I'm... Not that glad. Because they actually chose a character that they baby wayyyy too much and try to brag about how "morally grey" she is. When she's really not. ("Made what I thought was right and I feel tremendous guilt over it now" type of deal, which is some of the farthest things possible from "grey morality")

Overall. Okay ig? Just feels like it was pulled out of their asses by now. And as if they won't actually care all that much if it pleases the fan base with their very lame sapphic representation (it will not. Vaggi is the best one in here and that's saying A LOT bc she literally doesn't pass the Bechdel test)
