ahshdhf okay but can you imagine being madame morrible and you finally find the one person you need to secure yours and the wizards positions of power and she’s PERFECT because everyone hates her and by providing literally the bare minimum comfort and encouragement you’re 100% sure you’ll be able to brainwash her. And then one night at 1 am she shows up at your door and BEGS YOU to let her roommate (didn’t they hate each other?) study alongside her and you absolutely despise the roommate but goodness knows you Cannot let your most promising student in decades slip out of your grasp. Worst of all, you have to tell the roommate Right Now??? So you get dressed for the club in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT to talk to the preppiest most shallow 20 yo girl you’ve ever met in your years of teaching. I would never teach a lesbian again LMAOOOOO

I think the part where it’s so obvious who the real love story of wicked is between is when elphaba is dancing alone and fiyero says she really doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her and galinda says, “of course she cares, she just pretends not to” and then goes to dance with her

in the books, the musical, and now the movie, it's made insanely obvious that the true love story is between Elphaba and Glinda. but unfortunately the general audiences will clutch to that one (1) scene in Act 2 i fear.

I do not understand why the "true" love story can't be between Elphaba and Glinda and why Elphaba and Fiyero can't also, separately, fall in love? I do not understand why the above fact must therefore exclude the Fiyero/Elphaba romantic ship? People contain multitudes and nuances. Platonic love is no less deep, vast, or important. Also Elphaba can be pansexual.

That’s reasonable, I could’ve written that better. I’m genuinely asking- are you frustrated because you think that an explicitly wlw relationship between Glinda and Elphaba was the superior narrative/story choice (you’re not wrong that Gelphie’s a fabulous ship and it would’ve be really cool if that had been the creative decision 21 years ago, but now is better than never I guess) or are you frustrated because you think that the textual relationship that Stephen Schwartz allowed isn’t “true” love? If it’s the former, regardless of any personal attachment I may or may not have to the Fiyero/Elphaba ship, I think you’re probably right. If it’s the latter- I think that’s a shallow way to view relationships.

There's nothing deeper to my statements or anyone else's about Gelphie. It has been explicitly stated by both Schwartz and Maguire that Gelphie is the true love story of the book/show.

sorry but having strains of "For Good" sprinkled throughout the soundtrack, particularly during Elphie and Glinda's most important moments - essentially having it be their Theme - was a stroke of genius and definitely didn't rip my heart out every time I heard that little motif

wild that if the hot air balloon thingy had worked glinda would've legit left the emerald city with elphaba? she only changed her mind after she had a moment to think about it, and rationalized what was actually happening, but her spur-of-the-moment instincts were to leave with elphie.

at the end of the day everything Glinda does is about Elphaba. from the moment they become friends, Glinda becomes permanently changed by Elphaba. she is what she is in the second act because of Elphaba, not in spite of her. because she is trying to outrun her and find a way to live without her, because she regrets not going with her and is trying to convince herself she doesn’t. Elphaba only asks Glinda to come with her once, but from then on Glinda spends years trying to outrun her own answer. and in the end she can’t, and she brings herself back to Elphaba anyway.
