Theo had tried to push as far as possible the time he’d have to find Stefan for a much-needed discussion. But he’d been pushing it long enough, and as much as he disliked his cousin, if he were in his position, he’d want to know as soon as possible. He heard the other was in the potions room, so he walked down there, giving the opened door a small knock before stepping in. “Do you have a minute?”

“Do you really want me to answer that for you?” Emrys teased, wiggling his brows at the other. “Yeah, he’s probably in a bar right now, sticking his tongue down someone’s throat to avoid his feelings.” The boy rolled his eyes, pulling  a face. “Think he blames himself. Wouldn’t look me in the eyes.” A sigh escaped his lips, and he shook his head. However, at the other’s comment, he let out a laugh. “Holy fucking shit, he finally caved? Was wondering how long he was going to keep denying he’s attracted to you. It was really funny to witness when I used to bring it up to him and he’d just claim you were ‘best friends’ and throw a fit.” Emrys scoffed out. “So are you two a thing now? Or is my brother being a twat?”

"It really wasn’t a question.” Theo replied, making a small face. He really didn’t think he could take any more teasing comments from the other boy for now. And as Emrys added more, he pulled another face, eyes quickly glancing away. Honestly, his jealousy couldn’t be any more obvious than that, but he tried to push it back. “Yeah, certainly is.” He let out. At least, the subject seemed to change, making it slightly more enjoyable. “I’m pretty sure he’ll still throw a fit if you bring that up to him. I don’t really think he’s ready to accept that just yet.” He commented, a small grin appearing. “Definitely still a twat. I’m not sure that’ll ever change.”

Beau nodded a little bit, shrugging. “I’m not sure either… but I’d never say that to her face,” he said with a bit of a chuckle, “or to any of her players.” It just wasn’t a good idea for him to engage with Niobe. She just seemed to hate him, there was no other way to explain it. His eyebrows raised slightly at the others words, and his smile grew. “I’d be willing to do that… whenever you’re ready.”

Theo shrugged slightly at the comment. “Well, someone has to do it.” He certainly didn’t get along with her, but he wasn’t exactly scared of her either. It wasn’t like he didn’t respect her - he did -, he just... really disliked her. One of his eyebrows raised as Beau spoke, taking a quick glance around before settling back on him. “What about now?” He asked with a small smile, already walking backwards towards a more private place.

While he knew he couldn’t exactly bail on having dinner with his parents for Easter, he also knew it certainly wouldn’t be much of an enjoyable experience. And while he was also spending most of his time at the Abbott’s during the break, he thought perhaps they’d be pleased he spent a little while at home. Maybe they’d cut him some more slack if he did. So Theo left sometime in the morning, only coming back much later that evening. And clearly, something had gone wrong by the look on his face. So he didn’t linger with the others, only giving them a small nod before making his way to his best friend’s room.

He didn’t bother knocking, and he didn’t bother asking if it was fine as he headed straight for the bed. He was well aware of the look his friend was certainly giving him, but he didn’t say a word until he was sat on the bed. And even then, he took a moment before speaking. “I’m getting married.” He finally said, before letting himself fall backward on the bed with a small sigh. He still wasn’t sure how to take it, he had no idea how Cain would take it as well. “To a Black.”

When she had first spoken to him, she hadn’t entirely realised who it was. However, as her eyes focused, she realised it was the man who she was supposed to marry. The very man she was technically drinking to forget about. Oh the irony. “You mean the fact that we’re supposed to get married when both of us would rather not? No offence, I’m sure you’re lovely but, I don’t think I’m your type, and I’d rather marry your cousin.” As the words slipped from her lips, Andromeda slapped her hand over her mouth. “Nope, I need more alcohol for this conversation and wine’s not cutting it.” Andromeda spoke to the bartender, watching as the man quickly filled up several shot glasses, sliding one over to him. “Cheers, I guess.”

Theo let out a small chuckle as he set his now empty glass on the counter. He wasn’t sure if it was about the situation or what she said, but at least this wasn’t too tense. It was a start. “You’re pretty, you’re just... yeah, you’re definitely not my type.” He commented, for a moment briefly remembering seeing her with his cousin. “And I’m sure Stefan would rather be in my place, too.” At least, the two of them would have more chances of working out. He looked at the shots as they were filled, picking up the one she slid to him. “Salud.” He said before bringing the glass to his lips and downing it.

“Good boy.” Kat grinned as she settled the snacks in her arms a little more comfortably. “Maybe. If I can hide them in your room, you get to share them with me.”

“There’s definitely plenty of place in my room to hide them.” Theo started with a grin. “Although I can’t assure you I won’t just eat all of them.”

Kingsley sighed at his question and just shrugged a little bit. “It was just a journal from a couple hundred years ago. Trust me, you don’t want to read it… it wasn’t pleasant.” He admitted, shaking his head.

“You do realized you’re talking to a Ravenclaw, right? Liking old stuff is kind of our thing.” Theo replied back in a joke. “Or so I’ve been told.” He quickly added. “But fine, if you don’t want to spill it, I won’t force you.”

“Well yeah, you stare at my brother on a daily basis,” Emrys joked with a grin. “Oh well at least you’ve seen him. He was in here for about five minutes, staring at me like I was a ghost – well, technically I suppose I am. Huh. Anyway, he asked me about five questions before leaving. But yes, I have apparently risen from the dead, and before you ask, I have no bloody clue what happened. I just remember talking with Winnie at the dance, and then I was in the entrance hall. Over a month later.” He shrugged his shoulders, grimacing. “Speaking of my brother, though, how is he? I mean, he’s dyed his hair black again for fucks sake. Usually that means he’s having a meltdown. Who’s he shagged this time?”

“Oh, yeah, it is such a terrible face to look at. I don’t know why I do it so often.” He joked, but it wasn’t so long until everything just felt... serious again. “I wouldn’t really call that seeing him, he just looked a little freaked and he told me you were back. And then he left, so I came to see for myself. I don’t think he’s really talked to anyone about it.” He said with a small shrug. “Yeah, he’s having a full on meltdown. But I can’t really give you a full list of everyone he’s shagged.” He said before taking a small pause, considering whether or not he should say more. “If it gives you an idea of how deep he’s fallen, I’m on that list too.”

“That’s what I was told since.. since forever, I had no reason to think otherwise.” The lies his father had crafted were fully believable, before Elodie told him what his father said, he had absolutely no reason to doubt his explanation. He wasn’t well aware who the other spent his time with, he had seen him around the Abbotts sometimes, and Chloe, but that was about it. His question made Stefan narrow his eyes and he let out a deep sigh. “You will get nothing out of it.” he said bluntly. It irritated him that he was talking about the death of his mother, who was also his aunt, and Theo was being so insensitive about it. “But I need to find out what really happened, why my mother was.. killed.” There was a bitterness to his tone as he uttered that last word. “If you can help, then great. If not, I will find another way.” 

“I just thought your dad would’ve told you... at least part of the truth.” Not that he really knew the Notts, and he didn’t have much of a problem with that. But she was his aunt, and while he never met her - or at least, couldn’t remember meeting her -, she was still family. And somehow, he had a feeling her death might be the reason both families were so distant from each other. “You need to work on your skills to convince people. Because that’s not how you do it.” He said, before letting out a sigh. And he silently cursed himself for what he was about to say. “I’ll only do it because I want to know the truth. this has nothing to do with you.”

Beau chuckled at his words and shrugged. “So far they haven’t, anyway. If I run into Niobe at some point, that may change… she has a tendency to hit me.” He admitted jokingly, sipping at his drink. He nodded as the other explained why he’d come to the party, understanding that reasoning. “A distraction?” He asked curiously, raising his eyebrows. He certainly couldn’t deny that Theo was definitely… worth talking to. At least. “Maybe I’ll join you. It’d be pretty cold in there though, not sure if it’s worth it.”

Theo let out a small laugh when the other mentioned Niobe. “She’s a good player, but sometimes I wonder how she became captain with that attitude.” He commented. He tried to stay clear of trouble with her, and while he managed that quite well, not everyone had that chance. A small smirk slowly appeared on his lips as Beau spoke. “Or, you could join me somewhere else, that wouldn’t be so cold. And a little more private.”

“Hmm, perhaps but it’s not as fun,” Cain mused, though his words were honest. “I don’t hate all of them, I can stand like one person.” He admitted with a laugh, shaking his head. Cain wasn’t sure if Theo would reject him again, and he really, really didn’t want him to. He’d been trying to deny his attraction to his best friend for a while, not wanting to fuck things up between them but holy shit, it was getting harder to deny. So when Theo kissed him back, a moan slipped from the back of his throat, his fingers gripping at the other’s shirt as he pulled him closer. “Do you wanna get out of here?” He murmured breathlessly against the others lips. Before the other could respond, Cain moved his lips to the other’s jawline,  before moving towards his neck, teeth grazing against the other’s skin gently.

Theo raised an eyebrow as the other spoke, playfully. “Oh so there is someone you can stand other than me. No, wait, let me guess, the only person you can stand is you.” He joked, letting out a small chuckle as he did. Which died rather quickly as Cain kissed him, a hand reaching out to the back of his neck. He’d been waiting for this for so long, he wasn’t going to let him just pull away just yet. But at the proposition, his grip loosened slightly. “We can go to mine.” He replied in a whisper, eyes closing as the other worked his way down his neck. It was almost painful to pull away from the other, but he knew this wasn’t over, and he focused on that fact as he pulled the other away from the party.

Andromeda usually wasn’t one to get drunk, but she just wanted to not think so much for once in a while. Especially with recent developments that had come to light. It was why the girl had found herself in a bar, on her – well she’d actually lost count how many glasses of wine she’d had. Draining the glass she had, the girl waved the bartender over - eyes catching sight of someone next to her.  “You can join me if you’d like,” Andromeda told them, words slightly slurred together, as the bartender approached. “This rounds on me.”

Somehow, Theo knew it would happen one day. He’d hoped his parents wouldn’t make that move, and it sure seemed like they wouldn’t for some time, but maybe he shouldn’t have gotten too comfortable in that knowledge. Because now, now he was stuck in a betrothal, and he still didn’t know how to react about it. So not wanting to down the mood at the Abbott’s household, he found his way to a bar, not noticing who he sat next to at first. Although when she spoke, he could only look in her direction, a small chuckle escaping his lips after lowering his glass. What a funny coincidence this was. “Might as well.” He said as he turned to fully face her. “I’m guessing we’re both here for the same reason.”

“Yeah well we aren’t seven anymore, Theodore,” Cain rolled his eyes. He watched as the other’s gaze trailed down, but huffed when the other didn’t make a move. “Well fuck you then, I’ll go find someone else to shag,” He scoffed, stepping away from the other.

“I can see that, but you still make terrible decisions. It’s like you never learn.” He stated, not exactly trying to make his words sound nicer. If anything, Cain had heard him say harsher things in the past anyway. “I’m not stopping you.” He said, watching him step away with a small tilt of his head. “I’ll just bring you tea in the morning.”

“Someone has to stop me from reading old literature and journals before going to sleep. Last night I read something… interesting, to say the least, and now I can’t get the image out of my head. I barely slept at all.” Kingsley admitted as he sipped at a cup of coffee - not his usual drink, but, like he said, he didn’t sleep much.

Theo couldn’t remember the last time he was kept awake over an interesting fact. Or whatever it was that kept the other awake. But now, he just really wanted to know what it was exactly. “And dare I ask what you read exactly?” He asked, an eyebrow raising.

A small laugh escaped his lips as she spoke. “You don’t have to tell me that twice.” Theo said before picking up the bags she’d dropped. “I’m hoping you’ll at least share those with me.”

A groan slipped from his lips as he massaged the bridge of his nose, reluctantly asking the one hundred different questions Madame Pomfrey was firing at him. His mind was still fuzzy of past events, only really clearly remembering the beginning of the dance. Which, he was told had been over a month ago. He was also told everyone had believed he was dead. 

Emrys didn’t know what to feel, guilty for causing people pain – but it wasn’t his fault, was it? As the matron walked away, Emrys let his head fall back onto the pillow with a sigh, eyes flickering to an approaching figure. “If you’re about to tell me I look like shit, I’m well aware.” He joked half heartedly, not entirely sure how the other would react to his presence. 

While he hadn’t been as devastated as the Abbotts, the news of Emrys’ death had affected Theo. He’d been close to that family for a long time now, and it had felt like he lost a brother as well. So when he heard he was back, he had to go check that out and see for himself. And surely, he was there, and Theo struggled to find an explanation as to how this happened. “I’ve seen worse.” He said he took a look at the other, sitting on the chair next to his bed. “When Cain said you were back, I wasn’t sure what he meant. Guess he really meant that you are back.”
