Very different to what I usually post... check out the characters for a Yuri project I wanna make!

Heres the basic plot synopsis:

Two trans girls are going to their first day of college, both are hiding they're trans in different ways (first girl is boymoding, second girl is pretending she's cis) but they both go through the same predicament, they forget smthn that makes it kinda obvious that they're trans (boymoding girl forgets to wear smthn to hide her post-hrt figure, cis-passing girl forgets to shave or smthn). They clock each others situations and decide to move in a dorm together just to be safe. The boymoding girl is a real 4chan type, she's self hating and as a result right wing, her cis best friend describing her as "unable to be honest about her feelings unless drunk or high", the other girl is very bubbly and open and leftist, but has impostor syndrome issues and puts others well-being above her own. The leftist girl slowly starts getting her to open up, realise she doesn't need to hate herself, that she doesn't need to boymode for her entire life etc while the boymoding girl teaches the other girl to center herself a bit more, not to an unhealthy degree, but to love herself, because you cant properly love others if you dont first love yourself, and ofc slowly fall in love the boymoding girl is quite tall and slender, very pale, w that faux-alt aesthetic to her, while the cis-passing girl is Algerian and is more chubby and wears sundresses and what not. its mainly gonna be about the trans experiences both of em go through, the self-hating, the whole "becoming radicalised due to falling to the wrong sides of the internet", but also includes religious guilt over transitioning, western racism towards muslims post-9/11 and post-refugee crisis, etc

A particularly insidious trick bourgeois ideologues like to play is to assert their beliefs are popular or normal among a credible population in order to strengthen their position. In the online world, where quantities are harder to measure, this takes the form of writing off movements as being "terminally online" and as being a tiny minority. Most of the time, it is a little fib told with the goal of actually making the (not yet popular) belief popular, thereby (hopefully) making it true after the fact. Sometimes, however, it is true.

This is especially pronounced in politics. Liberal doctrines are indeed popular, and proletarians are and have been historically more in favor of social democratic, reformist parties. As communists, this should not faze us, because the chaotic thoughts of the masses are not rigorous as the principles of the party are, and can easily drift into small-mindedness, regionalism, and are predominantly driven by bourgeois ideologies. This is ok; the goal of the communist party is not to convert every last proletarian, but to realize their needs and broaden their struggle. Through the condition of the proletariat, the party can adopt suitable tactics.

Only the upholding of invariant marxist principles can produce a revolution, any attempt to break with principle for the purpose of winning popularity is opportunism and will, in the long term, deteriorate into a horrid, reactionary mess.

Another thing not very like what I usually post: some screenshots from my mc forever world :D

This is a world that is gonna reach 1 year old very soon!!! It started in survival but I switched to creative a few months ago because it is more fun that way ^^

The lore is that this city, called Vasilevgrad and later renamed Trotskygrad, was a medieval roman ("byzantine" if youre one of those ppl) settlement/trading hub on the volga river that slowly grew and created a hybrid culture of Volga Germans, Rhomios greeks, pontic greeks and ofc, russians! And thus I incorporate Germanic, "Byzantine", Neobyzantine, Russian, hellenic (and others!!!) architecture into it, creating it's own unique identity.

The world it takes place in is one different to our own, the post-ww1 german revolution succeeds creating a true socialist state, alongside a slightly alternative USSR, idk if it'd be an outright Leftcom USSR (havent worked out the details yet), but it's js a step closer to true socialism than what was there IRL, and theres no deportations or assimilation of ethnic minorities, with the republics acting wayy more independently (with some even having different policies from others altogether), specifically this city is the capital of the Volga German (in this timeline, the Volga German-Roman) ASSR!

This specifically takes place during the 1950s!

Some additional details Im not sure how to incorporate into text:

-The language spoken by the Rhomioi is a fictional greek dialect, that mixes medieval greek with aspects of pontic and modern greek, as well as way more loan words from German and Russian!

-The city acted as a place of refuge for rhomioi/greeks fleeing from the Ottoman empire after the fall of Constantinople and for the years following, bringing some ottoman inspired buildings to the mix

-Theres debates between the people on if they consider themselves the same or seperate from the Modern greeks, which follow a revived, neo-hellenic, ethnic/national identity.

Aaaand above the modern city, sits the medieval settlement! Heavily inspired by the fort-town of Mystras :D

The thing about American "leftist" comedians is that they aren't actually leftist, they are the Imperial Court Jesters. They stand on a stage, point directly at the blood-soaked gears of the war machine, make a little tee-hee noise, and the crowd erupts. Not because they are critiquing the machine, but because the laughter is a pressure release valve for the people inside it. Take the video of that stand-up asking the defense contractor if she helped Trump bomb those 160 Iranian school girls, and everyone laughing, including the contractor herself. That laughter is ritual absolution. The contractor laughs because she knows she will never face a tribunal. The audience laughs because they get to feel "self-aware" without having to actually stop anything. The joke doesn't condemn the contractor; it humanizes her, turns her into a lovable scamp who just happens to have a job graphing the velocity of shrapnel through children's bodies. By making it a punchline, the comedian sanitizes the atrocity. The blood is scrubbed off the stage. The audience gets to say "wow, we are so edgy for talking about it" while the person who builds the bombs gets to chuckle and order another drink. It is not satire, it is a team-building exercise for the empire.

Then there is the YouTuber talking about Transformers, casually dropping the "Iraq war aesthetic" like it's a color palette. Desert punk. Military core. A vibe. This is what happens when your country hasn't had a war on its own soil in living memory; the violence becomes media, a backdrop for childhood toys. The explosions are no longer the sound of mothers screaming; they are cool action sequences. They are digesting the visual debris of massacre as a nostalgic fashion choice, scraping the trauma off and compressing it into a genre for their retro-futurist fantasies. The apocalypse becomes a mood board.

And finally, the girl recounting celebrity love triangles from her childhood, flippantly mentioning how the U.S. was "busy with the Iraq war or whatever." Or whatever. That single phrase is the thesis statement of American innocence. Over a million dead, a region destabilized for a century, an endless river of grief; and for her, it was the commercial break between pop culture segments. It didn't raise her rent. It didn't stop her Wi-Fi. The violence is geo-locked to brown skin and distant deserts, just background noise like a refrigerator humming. She has the luxury of forgetting because the machine doesn't eat her children, it eats yours.

Americans don't hate the machine; they love the output. They hate the mess of it. So they turn it into jokes, into aesthetic, into "whatever." Because if they stopped laughing, if they stopped scrolling, if they actually looked at the 4K drone footage of the aftermath instead of the cool explosion CGI in their movies, they would have to realize that the lithium in their phones, the gas in their tanks, and the comfort of their suburban cul-de-sacs are all greased with the fat of foreign children. And they can't handle that. So they laugh. They turn it into a vibe. They call it "the Iraq war or whatever." You can't deconstruct the master's house with the master's jokes, especially when the punchline is the corpses holding up the floorboards.

a lot of folks on the anti-communist left fall into a sort of nihilistic despair at the state of things because they are unwilling to see the incredible advances in actual socialist projects as real, leaving an increasingly derelict capitalist structure as the only thing that exists in their perspective. which, in fairness, would also make me rather depressed! getting over the hurdle of accepting that socialism exists in real life does just totally ameliorate that, however.

i didn't specifically have anti-communists stuck on the Russian Revolution not resolving into a global invasion on my mind when i made this post, but i suppose that is a good example. refusing to accept, much less investigate the goings on of the last century of socialism leads to a pithy and impotent analysis that engenders exactly what i said before, and the solution remains the same.

actually the Internationalist Communist Tendency and the "Bordigists" both have a good amount of analyses of the so-called "socialist" societies. i could link them all here but ill just settle for a handful of decisive ones:

anyways, im not a Trot, so I dont think the Bolsheviks had to invade Europe to force them to adopt "socialism"; the time for revolution had passed, each for their own reasons the Communists in different countries failed, and the workers in Europe had been successfully satiated by various reformist forces. the Communist Party of Italy was founded too late to provide leadership during the red years of 1919-21. the KPD tried starting revolution too early before the workers would have been radicalized in the depression following WW1.

also your last line is proving my point; Stalinism is just the easier option. youre basically admitting that you want to believe these things because it just feels good. like, for the record, im not totally pessimistic, i still think revolution is on the table, i just dont think its all sunshine and rainbows either.

also in my view, you're the anti-communist. stalinists (and the trotskyists after them) are the ones who killed proletarian internationalism, made people equate marxism with SiOC (trotskyists believe this covertly, "deformed" and "degenerated" workers states) and helped delay crisis in the capitalist system

i'll amend my previous statement: "i didn't specifically have anti-communists stuck on the Russian Revolution not resolving into a global invasion [led by an anachronistic version of the Communist Party of Italy] on my mind when i made this post". in any case, Stalinism is not an ideology and while the Soviet Union was an important step in practical and theoretical progress for socialism, it doesn't exist anymore. i'm utterly uninterested in debating what someone determined to be a century late to being wrong has to say about much of anything. you have positioned yourself in the camp that declares that socialism has made no practical steps in the last century, and that capital has actually overtaken all of the proletarian revolutions since by whatever magic. an utterly detached and utterly depressing position, but easily fixable! stop allying yourself with something imaginary and interrogate the present, real world as it exists rather than as you would want its history to have been.

Post capitalist society has existed before, leftcom! Look at all my favourite social democracies. They had/have goverment intervention, and that's what socialism is, the more goverment funding there is, the more socialism it is! NEP? Commodification of production? What's that?? You're not interrogating the real world with what you're doing, which is analysing the real world policies and conditions of self-proclaimed socialist states!
