“So you’ll kick me out over something that was the school’s fault?” Aggie protested. Sure. The world wasn’t fair but he was pretty sure public organizations were at least supposed to pretend to be. “You seriously have never had a bug fly by your ear? Lucky.”
Aggie sat down in the office chair, body sagging as it creaked an awful, high pitched sound. “The world is so loud.”
He took a moment, eyes shut, and wished that in that moment there was silence. But he could hear bones creaking, the woosh of blood rambling through veins, the cracking tic-toc of the clock. “I can’t think of anything that will help besides trying to cover up the annoying sounds with music. But that’s just louder.”
“ no. ” jesus, did kids ever fucking listen to a word that came out of his mouth? he could feel aggie’s frustration oozing out of him like thick waves of shit, which only served to agitate him further. “ i said... i would be a pain in your ass until you agreed to let me help you, so you DON’T do something that will get you kicked out of school. ” ted was half a beer away from not really caring at this point, let the devil take it’s hindmost and they can run wild while he washed his hands too it. but he couldn’t. the small part of him that still gave any shit about this job wouldn’t let him. “ we’ll see if we can get some heavy duty noise cancelling headphones from the tech room for a start. but i am serious here, kid, you have got to work with me. i’m doing my best but you lot are putting me through my paces. i need us all to be a little more avengers than batman v superman, alright? ”
