Alright now that it's slightly more formulated (I am so sorry past me if only she knew how this would consume her free time I fear)...
Here are some of the ideas I've been toying with!
To be noted: I have some idea of character designs, vigilante names/aliases and powers are still a little tbd. Also! Vigilante au. It's kind of like MHA in the "heroes need to get a license" sort of thing, but hhb don't have time for all that so they're a little morally gray.
ALSO! They do not choose their vigilante names! It is the public that names them and they just kinda roll with it.
Yoon: Alchemist - ONE OF MY TWO PROTAGONISTS which makes it kind of terrible that I don't... really know what I want his power to be yet. I kind of want it to be plant based? Like, he can grow whatever plants he wants. Makes it really easy for him to get raw materials for chemistry/sedative purposes. (also I like the idea that plants bud when he laughs so he tries REALLY HARD to be this nonchalant guy but it generally doesn't go very well for him lmao.) Refuses to fight but will take defensive positions all day any day (eventually, lots of character growth yk), inventor and chemist. Has a bo staff. And Min-soo (older brother) runs a clinic, which is where he gets his under the table medical supplies and know-how. He's just as skilled as any doctor (if not more so). Wants to be a doctor just so he can legally have access to medication and tools and stuff.
Kaya: Nymph - PROTAGONIST #2 HEAR ME OUT. She can somewhat merge with air, water, and earth! She can fly, camouflage, and merge with bodies of water. Essentially, she can conform with natural forces to a limit. Will intervene in a fight wherever it’s necessary, but usually keeps away from the brunt/front lines of the battle/acts as support. Also uses a slingshot and yoon’s chemicals for smoke-bomb and “putting people to sleep dust” usage. has asthma, but is pretty okay health-wise! it’s not severe, and yoon made her an O2 mask/tank/filter to reduce stimuli and prevent attacks when in the field. Her vigilante attire vibe is black witch moth. They're very cute you should look them up. She wants to be a botanist! Kaya and Yoon meet/bond over plants and green thumb shenanigans.
My first chapter would be called "The Botanist and the Medic"
kaya and yoon work together - they usually focus on diffusing petty fights, armed threats, etc, and take care of the injured regardless of who they are. (if they’re a villain, they drop them off by the nearest police station with some sort of suppressant/sedative in their system, courtesy of yoon). they keep to themselves to the most part, and have never been seen by the public eye. they’ve worked alongside the dragons and hak/yona, but never stick around for long for their own safety. (in order to continue their work and prevent being photographed, taped, or targeted, they keep their profile low). despite the good work they do, their secrecy makes them suspicious, and while their actions are accredited to them, the public is generally afraid. There are two other vigilantes who have healing powers of some sort, but one of them, while efficient, generally leaves the group with two people out of commission instead of one (healing another person takes mass amounts of energy for both parties), and the other, while useful, is more of a band aid over the bullet wound sort of thing, so the Yoon-Kaya duo is very much needed.

Yona Aurora/Phoenix maybe?? Still a little tbd but I'm leaning towards the former- pyrokinesis, but it's loaded with generational knick knacks/its really versatile and hiryuu (grandfather) has to teach her how to use it/unlock her true potential or whatever. (her power is complicated so I don't have much on it yet)
Hak: Thunder Beast (It's lame ik but it's too perfect) - I have no clue what this power is called but basically he can warp time for himself/move in a faster/slower time frame. he can only use it on himself and inanimate objects just enough so that he can interact with them (only one at a time though). His preferred speed is enough of a difference to be confusing and incredibly annoying, but he’s got a pretty wide range in his arsenal. He can slow himself down too. it’s not really useful unless he’s bleeding out or something though, but even then, there’s usually stuff going on around him, so it’s not like he can afford to stay back. so in essence, enhanced mobility that’s a result of time manipulation I think. He’s also stupid strong, but that’s because he’s super active. It doesn’t affect his age, but it does eat at his energy, so afternoon naps are a must if he wants to patrol all night.
Kija: Angel - BIBLICALLY ACCURATER KIJA he can grow up to four extra arms he is an excellent brawler :D They can regrow if they're cut off, (it's only happened once or twice) and he wears billowy clothes so people can't tell where his arms are lol. and ofc his clothes are white bc he's extra and it goes with his complexion so when he saves people they think he's an angel therefore vigilante alias. he's got scale things on his knuckles so he wears gloves all the time, they spread when he's using his power along his arms, chest, kneck, etc. Hak calls it snake skin. Yk the deal.
Jae-Ha: Basilisk - Sentient oobleck/shock absorption!! it works on water! he can double jump! he can jump off buildings and not break his legs/use/store the impact and bounce right back up! He has to consciously throw his power through his body tho so he's really good at quick descision making/fighting. The only one who can actually kind of keep up with Hak for this reason.
Zeno: Inti - POWERED BY SNACKS AND THE SUN basically an extreme form of physical enhancement? I'm still toying around with some of the logistics as well, but basically his body can rapid force energy/strength/nutrients/vitamins through his bloodstream and it makes him really strong and it also means he can take mass amounts of damage and survive bc he heals almost instantly. however this also means he has really deep energy stores to replenish so he's always eating and out in the sun getting vitamins. (Does this mean he could technically just run on solar power? lmao I hadn't thought of that specifically but the sun thing is kind of why his name is Inti lol) His power is only as strong as it is bc he trained it to be. Also, the energy transfer within himself is passive. it takes energy to move energy, but his body is used to it so it doesn't take much work. However, this also means it can be active, wherein he can force the energy to permeate through his skin and therefore heal others! Because it is active it takes way more energy though, it's useful in a pinch but usully ends up meaning he's out of commission for a while. Has also thrown himself off buildings to make an entrance. (he's got superpowered bone density he's fine.)
Shin-Ah: Formerly known as Nightmare or Night terror or smth? (he gets renamed eventually by Yona and gang) - I want to do a hybrid of imagination come to life stuff in the form of illusions/bending light. it relies heavily on his energy and his perception/sight to craft illusions, his eyes glow gold when he’s using his power/are usually gray(? idk what color I want them to be but I think they glow in the dark/when he uses his powers). He can also blind people/flash bang/stun grenade them! He “paralyzes” enemies through a kind of placebo effect (similar to canon). Moonlight is easiest to work with—not that it’s not hard, but it’s easier to see through his illusions in the daytime/sunlight. Artificial light works too! im tempted to give him glasses/eyewear like eraserhead has in mha, that way people can’t tell when he’s using his power. Oh also he can see in the dark really well. and has three eyes? I haven't decided yet.
ao - she's an empath. she understands human speech. she knows.
Soowon: Songbird/Siren? idk which I like better - something something hypnotization, he's important. kind of really important uhm tbc more about him lol
I have so many ideas for this plot and what I want it to look like and the formation of the Happy Hungry Bunch <3 I've also been making some pretty solid worldbuilding as well! lots involving kouren, tao, five stars, and all the tribes. I will update with more when I get the chance lol. Hopefully with character designs?
IF I can plot this, IF I can lock in on art, I really want this to be a comic series. If you stick around for a year or two (...maybe more), I think I can make it happen! Eventually. lol. Once the character designs are done, I'll probably use them while locking in on art - having something so actiony will be good for perspective and background practice. I think it will be a good starting point. Also learning to draw comics for a superhero au is very full circle moment for me. Just needed to mention that.
But yeah! Here's to hoping for the new au! (let's see how many more I come up with later lol)
