I think I might throw up 🤢 this is one of worst ideas I’ve ever heard, nearly as bad as capitalism itself!! Billionaires shouldn’t exist…
so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
The full picture is even more heart breaking after you open the uncropped version. Just a heads-up, it's rough
“The Roman Catholic Parish in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was just grafitted.”
Nah let’s post it. Let’s feel it. Don’t look away.
I notice alot of my followers on here skipping these posts just to mess with my lgbt ones, suspiciously the white popular ones.
Heres a not so friendly reminder, as an lgbt metis person, i dont give a single fuck what your blog is themed or if this is too painful for you to look at. Reblog this post. Reblog this post with the sources of the 751 children who were found.
Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.
Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.
They were CHILDREN.
They were murdered in cold blood.

Singapore was in 1959.
Cyprus and Nigeria were in 1960.
Cameroon, Kuwait, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone were in 1961.
Jamaica, Uganda, and Trinidad and Tobago were in 1962.

Vanuatu and Zimbabwe were in 1980.
Antigua and Barbuda and Belize were in 1981.
Saint Kitts was in 1983.
Brunei was in 1984.
In addition to that: Northern Ireland is still a British territory. So are the Falkland Islands and Bermuda.
This is in the lifetime of ancestors we have that are still alive. Many of these countries were left in financial ruination after colonization with their resources drained. Many of these countries have been repeatedly bombed by the UK and their allies since independence as well. The very act of independence often resulted in massive loss of life (see the partition of India and Pakistan which resulted in 2 million people dead, 20 million people displaced, and countless others never recovered). Calling it ancient history or underplaying the sheer cruelty of what the British empire did is such a slap in the face to the people who suffered for centuries.
I’m ashamed to be British because of our disgusting (and very recent) past, we have a lot to answer for…
Even now, in 2021, British people on the whole think we’re better than everybody else and still won’t admit to the horrific things our country did to so many others…
Most British people are very selective when talking about what the British empire did. They try to sway the conversation to make colonialism sound like a good thing, idk how anyone can actually think that, when you look at the evidence and all the people who were displaced, robbed or killed!! For fucks sake British people, why can we not admit to our country’s faults????????
Fuck the monarchy. Fuck the British.
From a (very reluctant) British person.
Because the majority of people in this country are simply not aware of our countries faults. On the quiet, we are one of the most dogmatically nationalist nations in the world and this seeps into every single aspect of our culture and life. We are not aware because we are deliberately kept ignorant by the infrastructure in place to keep us that way.
Questions of responsibility for matters such as colonialism and nationalism should not be framed in a way that puts individual blame on the ordinary citizens. Asking “why can’t British people admit the wrongs of their country?” is missing the forest for the trees. It is not a question of asking why we can’t admit it, why are we not taught about the wrongs that our country - meaning the powerful today and the general culture, not individuals - needs to address in order to do so.
Such assumptions also ignore the fact that the British government on the whole actively campaigns to make life harder for impoverished, minority and oppressed communities in this country, as well as the atrocities they commit abroad. Even back in the Victoria era and the first half of the 20th century when the empire was at its height, millions lived in poverty in this country. We had legitimate slums, particularly in Northern cities. The general British population has never reaped the spoils of British colonialism.
So, you, demanding in 2021 that British people ought to educate themselves on these evils adds very little of value to the conversation. It is a more nuanced issue than that and until people realise that this is a top-down issue and start applying this pressure in the correct places (that being the education system and the government’s propaganda machines such as the BBC) to alter this, no change will come about.
A single mother in Newcastle who is living on benefits, been out of work for 2 years and having to resort to using food banks probably does not have a great nuanced understanding of the crimes of British colonialism. Nor does the 16 year old driven on to the streets of London because of transphobia at home. Should that be fixed? Yes, but what are the practical ways of doing that? Because let me tell you, putting the ownership of that on them isn’t the way.
If we want to get serious AND PRACTICAL about this, then we have to act and do more than ask blame centred rhetorical questions on Tumblr. Write to your MP about the state of the education system- many teachers within it would jump at the chance to include broader and more diverse topics on to the curriculum. Get on the unions. Use the government’s website to start a genuine campaign to at least start this - after a certain number of signatures, the house of commons is legally required to at least discuss it. With the Tories in power, it will be like talking to a brick wall, but its better than having a stream of pretty virtue signalling sentences ready to go on Tumblr but doing nothing with that.
Woah wtf???? I completely understand that tumblr is not the right place to voice something if you actually want people to listen and for action to be taken, I’m not an idiot, I’m aware this is an echo chamber... but that doesn’t mean that I can’t have a rant about something that really pisses me off (i.e. people being ignorant and denying stuff, even when they’re aware of what this country has done.)
Also, to say that we are purposefully kept in the dark, while true, is a massive scapegoat for anyone who cba to educate themselves (I wasn’t taught any of this shit in school but I still know that the UK has a horrendous past and that we should do something to rectify that.) I feel like anyone who doesn’t know even a little bit about our past is lying or is a child or doesn’t want to admit it because, come on, we have the internet now, there’s not really any excuse to not self educate... but that’s part of the problem, most people that I’ve come across don’t want to know any more about it cus they want to continue the facade that we are the best and we can do no wrong, and people absolutely hate being told to rethink their world view, especially from someone younger than them, they find it patronising, and I know this from personal experience.
I also know it’s very difficult to brush off years of conditioning, our media and government and monarchy all contribute to keeping us ‘in the dark’ and I didn’t mean to aim my hate at any individual British person, bloody hell, all I was trying to say is that this country is not as good as it likes to think and a lot of people who live here will defend it vehemently, and when questioned on their beloved country’s faults, they will deny deny deny!!!!!
Also, I’ve tried all of that crap (emailing mps, signing and even starting petitions) but, surprisingly, nothing ever comes of it. Like I said before, I was NOT aiming any of my hate at any individual British person (especially not those from marginalised/oppressed groups!!) I was literally just having a rant about how it feels like every time I bring up anything negative associated with Britain/the royals that people just jump down my throat and tell me how wrong I am and how unpatriotic I am and ‘how can you hate your own country?!’ and ‘think about all the good things Britain has done for the world’ etc etc etc...
I just find it pretty rude of you, whoever you are, to say that I’m not doing anything or trying to help the situation when you don’t even know me and don’t know what I’ve done to try and help (which is not as much as I would like, due to being poor and not having a lot of influence.) I’m allowed to have a rant on tumblr, despite that fact that I know it won’t do much good. I’m aware that tumblr is not a direct link to 10 Downing st. and that me moaning about the ‘average citizen’ is not going to change anything. But what else can I do jfc...
And yes well done for being smart. I’ll make sure to send you a gold star in the post.
no. next question.
Hell no!!!!!!!!!

if i see one more person say yeah he was apparently racist :/ when asked what prince philip “did” im gonna go insane lmao it’s not a matter of one-off problematic™️ moments from some random old white man — this dude presided over the most powerful, brutal, and racist colonial power on earth for decades. thats why we’re celebrating now and thats why we’ll continue to celebrate every time one of these crusty little british royals finally kicks it. read a book im begging

The 2021 Gender Census is now open!
[ Link to survey ]
The eighth annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 10th March 2021.
After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, retweet this tweet, boost this Mastodon post, check out this post on Reddit, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks like Facebook. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 24,000 responses last year.
Survey URL: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/gendercensus2021/
The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesn’t fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.
Thank you so much!
what some people think “you don’t need dysphoria to be trans” means: anyone can choose to be trans and trans people can just choose to be cis.
what “you don’t need dysphoria to be trans” actually means: trans experiences are extremely varied and trans people define dysphoria in multiple valid ways. there are multiple valid ways to be trans other than the “true transsexual” narrative popularized by cis people. distress about your birth assigned gender or sex characteristics is one way to be trans. discovering that you suddenly feel more authentic when living as a new gender, after no discernable distress that you’d call dysphoria, is another. if your gender is different from the one you were assigned at birth, you can call yourself trans.
Hell yes ;)
Here it is: Best stuff first
Extremely handy if you follow a lot of people and hate missing anything good.
Best Stuff First moves the best stuff on your dashboard—mhm!—right up to the top.
It’s rolling out this week on iOS and Android, and comes with this Help Center article.
Thanks! ✌️
Head’s up folks! Tumblr decided to shit the bed and go non-chronological!
This bullshit is being rolled out this week and it’s going to be default!
This is dangerous and manipulative.
The main reasons for these “algorithms” that Instagram, Facebook and Twitter have rolled out are manipulating what people see. Content they want you to see gets pushed to the top, anything threatening to their interests gets quietly tossed to the bottom so you’ll be too tired or bored to see it.
I can see this seriously messing with the livelihood of artists, so please reblog if you can!
This adds a whole new level to being shadowbanned. Now you can just be shadow-shoved-to-the-bottom and no one will ever see your posts again. Ngl I see this as a way Staff will deal with users they find ~problematic~.
Remember that time Facebook did the exact same thing, then conducted illegal psychosocial experiments on it’s users by tampering with their activity feeds to make depressing posts, happy posts, etc. show up more often to manipulate the emotional states of their users?
It’s probably in your best interest to disable this.
“But if you forget to reblog Madame Zeroni, you and your family will be cursed for always and eternity.”
not even risking that shit
scrolled past this, re-evaluated my life, then SCROOOLLLED back up and hit the damn reblog button.
She ain’t no games in real life so I take her serious all the time
Anyone with a name that starts with a “Z”, ends with an “i”, and isn’t some kind of Italian pasta, IS SERIOUS
I’m not climbing no mountain with a pig on my back, 🙅🏽🙅🏾🙅🏿 Negative.
Nope. I know better, have your reblog Madame Zeroni.
who the fuck is Madame Zeroni
Look at these stupid children who don’t know who Madame Zeroni is
IM SO TIRED OF RACIST PEOPLE. SO TIRED. Do you know HOW MANY cultures have non-binary genders?? BINARISM IS RACIST because it was IMPOSED by most EUROPEAN cultures. The Incaic cultures my country had natively were FULL of third-genders which were, of course non binary. And yet your america/euro-centrist white asses on this site tell me my gender does not exist? Lmao what about the literal thousands of people with native third gender identifications? People like me? Native people from the Americas, Africa, Asia, Oceania?? Bullshit. Anyone who says we invented non-binarism this century is a RACIST.
if you’re not native and/or not nb you SHOULD reblog this. let people know we are tired. Even non-native nbs. we are all tired.
can 2017 be the year of hearies being Good Allies to d/Deaf people?
how to be a good ally to d/Deaf people
recognize that audism (the oppression of & discrimination against deaf people) is still a very real issue. it can include things like believing that deaf people are “stupid” or “broken” and that deaf people need to be “fixed” (aka made hearing), as well a general lack of awareness about deaf issues, how deaf people communicate, or even that deaf people exist
recognize the consequences of audism, like deaf children being forced to speak and not being allowed to learn ASL, deaf people being denied jobs (yep, its illegal. still happens), and even deadly police brutality
reblog/signal boost posts about d/Deaf issues as well as positive posts about d/Deaf accomplishments, information about d/Deaf people, etc
if you can: learn a little bit of your local sign language! even just fingerspelling and knowing a few basic signs. i especially encourage anyone who works in customer service/retail to learn a little ASL if at all possible! (this is a big thing so i def don’t fault anyone for not doing it, but if you have the time/ability it’s a pretty cool thing to do)
stop using phrases like “falls on deaf ears”, “deaf to their pleas”, anything that frames deafness in a negative way
recognize that there are different levels of hearing loss!! hearing people generally categorize hearing as: “not being able to hear perfectly but still hearing” = hard of hearing; “not hearing anything” = deaf; but for deaf people, anyone with any degree of hearing loss is considered deaf! if someone tells you they’re deaf but you know they can talk/sing/play instruments/listen to music, believe them
theres a lot more honestly but i dont wanna let this get too long!! anyone can feel free to message me about any of this/if u wanna hear more. i’d really appreciate if people (esp. hearing people) could reblog this
