How do you know so much about guns?

Escape From Tarkov is one of my favorite video games of all time and I also play a lot of VR. These things combined essentially require you to learn a lot about guns. Somewhere along the way I gained an appreciation for the mechanics behind them despite really really really hating them in real life, and so sometimes I will read an article, but I never watch any YouTube videos about guns because everyone who talks about guns on the internet is usually a weird chud. UNLESS! It's me.

I have a core memory from being around 7 or 8 years old and learning that guns didn't use any electricity or anything to operate, they just Did That, and that completely blew my mind because I had never seen something that operated and moved and functioned without electricity before, even things like cars. I still wouldn't learn how guns actually worked until I was like 21 and started playing Tarkov, but still, I think that planted the seed for the initial fascination. Still would be pleased as punch if every gun on planet earth was melted down right this instance though and we never made another one either

See, that's the thing about guns to me, they're interesting pieces of history and engineering with connections to popular culture through their depiction in different mediums (film, TV, video games, etc.). They're cool, until you remember the primary demographics that use them and where those people's motivations lie.

The culture that surrounds firearms enthusiasts sucks so bad that there's basically no reason to trust anybody with a gun. Not people, not law enforcement, not the government, not the military. There might be some people I trust MORE than others, but I have yet to personally meet someone I trust fully with a firearm. Humans are simply not cut out for having the power to sever one's life with the flex of a finger.

Unbeknownst to him, his investigation will put him on a collision course with people from his repressed past, forcing him to confront some long-forgotten mistakes.

What the transcript fails to express here is that Shaggy sounds like he is dying and crying and that the Scotby doo response is a saturated, deeply disturbing audio that ses to come from directly behind your shoulder no matter how far the speaker is and is WAY longer than the written version.
