Ever since the storm and the time Val had to take off to recover from the wound she had received, Flynn would spend more time with his sister, checking in on her and making sure she was respecting the orders of staying put and not overexerting herself. That last part certainly wasnât easy.
Finally, when she had recovered, Flynn felt like they could return to their routine, but it didnât mean he wouldnât drop by every now and then to see what she might be up to, if there was anything he could be doing for her, or, merely to drop off stuff that Val had â intentionally or not â left at his villa. Out of the twins, Val had to be the one who had the most problems when it came to keeping things organized.
Holding a bag with some assorted items that belonged to her, and holding a bottle of whiskey he had been able to snatch from the pirate lounge, Flynn opened up the door to his sisterâs house on the island. They were family, they had long dismissed the courtesy of knocking. âVal,â he called out her name as he stepped through the threshold, already seeing the woman standing in there, the distraught look on her expression and the way her surroundings looked made alarms sound inside his head. Sure, they had already established she wasnât the most organized person in the world, however, her villa looked as if it had just been raided. Furniture had been turned, the stuffing of some of the cushions laid all over the floor, the tableâs surface. Flynnâs eyes immediately traveled to Valâs figure, assessing her plight.
Some relief washed over him as he seemed to notice that she didnât appear to withstand any injuries, so, he wondered what had happened. He wondered if somewhere outside they would find someone who actually looked like theyâd been in a fight. But, there wasnât much time to ask questions, and Flynn heard his sisterâs roaring voice with a threat. This wasnât just her being mad at him over something he might have done. No, this was more than that. It was as if she couldnât even see him as she pounced forward. Dropping the bag to the floor at his feet, Flynn was quick enough to dodge the incoming attack, moving away from the blade.
Flynn put some more distance between them, leaving the bottle of whiskey somewhere safe, or, at least, out of reach, the pirate held his hands out, trying to calm his sister down. âVal⌠Val, itâs me⌠Flynn,â he attempted to reach out to her, attempted to get her to see past the fury in light eyes.
She lunged again, and Flynn jumped to the side, grabbing her wrist in his hand. The blow, however, had landed on his shirt, ripping a large part of the cloth. âVal⌠Listen to me⌠Itâs your brotherâŚâ he held the arm with the knife away from them. âCome on, sis,â he pleaded.
âTerminate him!â roared Valerianâs mentor.Â
âFinish him!â roared another voice--the voice that belonged to their father.Â
Gritting her teeth, Valerian headbutts the man before kneeing him in the stomach. With hell bent fury in her once calm blue hues Valerian looks down at the ground; at him. âI will be sure you meet an end so cruel the Devil himself will wee you murderer.â As she remained to stand above him the rage in her only grew stronger. She looks to the blade in her hand and tosses it to the side before looking back at him. âYou do not deserve a quick death.â
Before Valerian could pounce on the man and take him out with her bare hands the former assassin found herself having her feet knocked out from under her. She got too cocky something she hardly ever did. âFuck!â yelped the woman as she landed roughly onto the hard ground. Ignoring the pain from her now pounding head Valerian looks to the man.Â
âYou are going to regret that.â venom was practically oozing out of her words as she held a deadly glare to him.Â
