Did anyone else feel bad for Arnold in "Married"? Not only was Arnold against marrying Helga, but in his nightmare, he had a miserable life being married to her. Considering that show creator Craig Bartlett does imagine them getting married and having kids together, I really hope Helga does continue with her therapy and becomes a better person over the years! If she doesn't, Arnold's nightmare would practically come true, and he doesn't deserve that! That said, it was satisfying to see Arnold stand up for himself and call Helga out for her behavior at the end of the nightmare. I also appreciated Rhonda apologizing to Arnold for troubling him.

I think the ending with Phoebe was to show that when they do get married, they will have a healthy relationship. If anything, I think it was more of Arnold's subconscious thinking about the idea of marrying Helga and through the episode, realising how badly her parents have affected her behaviour, and how awful her family environment is for her, and outside of that environment, Helga is a decent person. So, I can't say I feel too bad for him (but also it's a dream so it's not real I guess.)

His dreams accuracy in showing her family massively stood out to me (eg the Olga name tag, Miriam's sluggishness etc), he really understands Helga's family dynamic. Their marriage is crap in the episode because they're stuck in the Pataki household and Arnold thinks Helga's family is miserable and knows the impact it's having on her and their dream marriage (and her real life by extension). I think it's interesting Helga sits around the house doing nothing all day in the episode, while Arnold is working. Arnold gets a job directly though Big Bob, and its Big Bob who tells him he has to work because "why should she have to?" (basically because he's the 'man'), so Helga doesn't have to. This is Arnold's subconscious telling us, yes, he's annoyed at Helga in the dream for not doing her part of the chores or working etc, but he doesn't blame her for it.

He blames the terrible environment she was raised in. By the end of the dream, Arnold takes the initiative and tells her if they're going to make it work, they need to move out, and makes Helga accountable for her lack of responsibility in the marriage, then wakes up and tells Gerald being married to Helga wouldn't be so bad by the end of the dream, knowing that she is much more open minded than her crappy parents to what he has to say and is more caring than she pretends to be (kind of like Helga apologising to Arnold after Big Bob called him an orphan in Parents Day), even almost figuring out that she's mean because she loves him, and *would be willing* to make the changes he confronted her about.

So, I would say, while their marriage sucked in the episode, it is still very hopeful from Arnold's POV. His subconscious truly believed outside of her shitty home environment, they could have made it work. So yeah, after a lot of counselling for both of them (they both have so much trauma, I mean from the Jungle Movie alone almost being killed by La Sombra, let alone family issues YEESH they got a lot of baggage), they would definitely work it out!

(Sorry for the long response, it's one of my favourite episodes and I think analysing it is so interesting, there's so many layers to the episode!)

So I've been doing some sketch requests and these ones of married Arnold and Helga are definitely my favourites! I spent way too long colouring the first one (was just meant to be a little joke comic thing!) and went a but crazy with the background, but oh well, I think looks nice! I had so much fun designing the characters as adults, I thought it might be cool to give Arnold Mile's haircut, and I think it worked well! It's already like a shorter version of his own hair but its a neat nod to his dad I think. 💗

Happy Shortaki Week 2026 everyone @shortakiweek ! Unfortunately I was a bit late to plan drawing any of the prompts this year, but hopefully this animation I worked on makes up for it 🩷 Wanted to contribute something! 🧢🎀

I've been getting this meme all over my feed recently and thought it would be really cute to do one for Arnold and Helga, my favourite Football Head and western tsundere. I haven't animated anything since I was like 12 messing around with Adobe Flash in years, like 14 years ago, but am happy with how Arnold's run cycle came out! 💗 Almost forgot my tumblr account existed.

Wonder if you guys can spot all of the references to the show here?

Two girls with pink and red stripes who love spending some quality alone time in the attic after a long day crawling through the air vent

So in other news, I’m hooked on Primos 😭 I won’t lie, episode 6a made me shed a tear or two, I thought that story was really heartwarming, and the score from Jim Lang never fails to miss. I then thought about another girl who’s favourite passtime is also finding new places after crawling in the vents and hey presto, its a crossover!

Can you believe I drew this all in one go today? 10 hours near about, I was just entranced by how beautiful the reference art is for the backgrounds of Primos 😭

I really do recommend giving this show a watch, I love the character development so far and the cartoony yet wholesome vibes

This is basically just my love letter to Hey Arnold! creator Craig Bartlett and Primos creator Natasha Kline for the premiere of Primos🩷 I can’t wait to watch more ☺️

✨ Helga becomes a Sanrio girlie ✨

I was looking at some of My Melody plushies for too long and made the realisation she kind of does have Arnold’s oblong head but Helga’s ribbon and pigtails, so I made this silly comic! I could definitely imagine an AU Helga’s obsessive side getting into collecting cute Sanrio stuff. I think she’d get into My Melody and Kuromi stuff! They’re kind of like a yin and yang of her tough and soft sides

THE THING I DID THE THING!!!!

L I'm currently aware I did the placement of characters wrong HAHAHA BUT IN MY DEFENCE. I ONLY WATCHED ONE TIKTOK WITH THIS TREND AND I STARTED TO WORK ON IT RIGHT AWAY. I didn't do research about where the trend came from, I didn't even know it was an anime intro (I'm just so far behind trends and trending animes or mangas AHAHAH I rewatch the same old things all the time so I assumd I was not gonna understand it either way)

WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE QUITE FUNNY BECAUSE-WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO UPLOAD IT TO TIKTOK AND I REALIZED I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO FIND THE SONG, I DISCOVERED IT WAS FROM URUSEI YATSURA! (That's why it's not timed correctly with the song too, cause I only wanted to animate freely Helga doing a funny sneeky walk. ALSO, WHAT'S WORST- I'VE WATCHED URUSEI YATSURA! But I skipped the intro HAHAHA)

Anyways, that's the whole context of why I did the trend wrong but I also don't care but I also wanted to explain it here cause I feel like here people know me more to understand me HAHAHHA.

Day 5: Scarf

Wanted to draw their outfits from Arnold's Christmas. I've gone with a more detailed style than normal, just wanted to give this piece some extra fluff and I ended up getting carried away ❄️

Feeling a bit Christmassy by drawing this, even though it's mid-July ( oh well )

Day 3: Trapped

Definitely late now but oh well! I was really inspired by Craig's art of Helga hiding out in the nooks and crannies of Arnold's room and can just imagine her finding a new hiding place every time Arnold turns his head away for 10 seconds.

Otherwise, I wanted to try using pencil textures rather than my more normal style, I'm really happy with how this turned out! It feels very warm and bright like the show. 🩷

Day 2: Unraveled

The prompt reminded me of the scene in Summer Love where Helga uses her ribbon on top of the sandcastle she and Arnold made so that’s what this drawing was based on!

It’s a bit late but better late than never (as will be the case for the other prompts I do, oh well!). I’m overall happy with how this one turned out 🩷
