So this was a long time in the making, life hasnât been easy since I started this project but here it is. This part contains smut so 18+ only. For those who have forgotten, this is a Temeraire and Be My Princess crossover starring Roberto of Altaria and @littlehevn
There should be one other part after this then I can move on to the next one.Â
Part 1 is here part 2 is here and all my other fic is here.
Of Love and Dragons Pt 3
Roberto stood fidgeting outside Xiaoâs door as he argued with himself, he knew what he wanted to do but wasnât sure how she felt about it. He closed his eyes as he rehearsed what he wanted to say.
âAre you just going to stand there all night?â He heard Xiaoâs familiar laugh and his eyes snapped open.
Xiao was leaning against the doorjamb, a small smile on her face.
âNo, I mean.â He stopped when she turned and went inside.
âCome on in, Iâve got tea.â
He hurried after her but left the door slightly ajar.
âYou know, you can close the door, we do things a little differently here.â
âI know but thatâs not the way we do things where Iâm from.â He took a deep breath and crossed over to her. âThank you for what you did today and how kind youâve been since I got here. The truth is that I fell in love with you at first sight but didnât know that until today. Xiao, will you marry me?â He picked up her hand and kissed it.
Her jaw dropped open and she stared at him. âIs this because of the lake? Has no one explained how this kind of thing works here?â
âYes, they have, quite often by some of the people in the corps.â He tried to keep his features composed when he saw the jealous look that flitted across Xiaoâs face. âBut that doesnât mean thatâs how I will do things. I know youâre probably more experienced than I am but that doesnât matter to me. Â All that does is that I love you and I think you care for me as well because I know you well enough to know you donât take physical relationships casually. So, how about it?â
So, in reply to an earlier post I mentioned I had written something like a 150+ page novel/fanfic (yup it includes smut). It was my way of working out issues, trying new things, and weaving a complex story together. It also had three very distinctive points of view.
I wonât post the whole thing because holy geez who wants to read my self indulgence, BUT, I wanted to post this part because itâs a love story told from a kids point of view. Plus you get to see Lavi being cute and jealous. Other princes make an appearance.
Premise of story in a/n at the end if thereâs any confusion, which there probably will be since itâs just one POV. If you really want to read the other parts you can always mail me and if youâre brave enough, I can send you the other parts.
Mom, Youâre so Dense.
Isabel and Celina were playing a board game with the sitter when their mom walked into the small waiting area near the Deanâs office.
âDid you get the job?â Celina asked before the door was even closed.
âCan you give us a moment Nousha?â Alicia turned to the small gray haired woman.
âOf course aziz-am. Iâll get some tea.â Nousha smiled and left the room.
âWell girls, they officially offered me the job. We had a chance to explore yesterday and today, do you think that was enough to help you make a decision about moving here?â Alicia sat on the couch and looked at them.
âI like it here.â Isabel shrugged. âThe people here are really friendly, the university is nice, and I think the school would be ok.â
âI really love it. They have a lot of flowers here and they like to give them to people for everything, Nousha told me about it. The people all smile and the market is exciting. They also have camels we can ride in the desert.â Celina beamed at her mother.
âSo I should tell them I accept?â
âYeah sure.â Isabel was pleased but she didnât want to say it out loud for fear it wouldnât come true if she did.
âWe can bring our movies and stuff in case thereâs not good TV right?â
âOf course Celina. We would have to leave some things behind but some things will come with us. Weâll be here at least a year, possibly two.â
âThen I say yes.â
Alicia spread her arms wide. âAlright, I believe this needs a group hug. Come on.â
Celina bounded straight for her and Isabel went a little bit slower. They remained that way for a few moments till Nousha came back.
âAlright then, I will go tell the Dean.â Alicia stood up and smiled. âThank you Nousha for your kind help, I hope you donât mind staying a little longer.â
âIt is my pleasure, no trouble at all. Now that the happy event has come to pass that you will be working in our country I would like to work for you, your girls are delightful.â Nousha smiled.
âIt will be about two to three months before I come back, I wouldnât want you to wait until then for me.â
âDo not worry about me, you have my number, please give me a call when you are back in the country.â
âThank you. Alright girls, Iâll be back.â She smiled and waved as she left, a bounce in her step.
âNousha, I hope you get to watch us.â Celina hugged her tightly.
âI hope so as well Celina-Joon.â Nousha patted her back gently.
âI like that idea too. What else is there to do here?â Isabel sat back down on the couch and waited.

Isabel looked at the two people her mom had just introduced them too. The boy, Lavi, was her age and was cute but seemed serious. Celina had taken off with him to blow bubbles and his confusion had been kind of adorable. It was the grown up, Dr. Aslan Mafdir, that interested Isabel. Not just because he was handsome, but because she wondered why he had wanted to take them sightseeing.
When her mom came back with tea Isabel realized she had been talking the Dr.âs ear off about Pokemon and she was slightly embarrassed. She could tell he was being honest when he said he enjoyed it because he had been paying close attention when she talked. His announcement he had set up special tours made her even more curious about him.
The museum tour was amazing. Aslan knew everything there was to know in the Natural History section and even corrected the information at one of the displays. He looked like a little boy when he showed them the display that was based on some of the research he had done.
âWould you like to see the Egypt Wing next?â Aslan looked at the girls.
âYes, I love Egyptian Mythology.â Isabel could barely contain her excitement.
âIt is right through this arch. Give me a moment.â Aslan pointed then turned to their private tour guide and spoke rapidly.
They were in front of the first exhibit when Aslan came to join them. âI donât know much about this but someone who does is joining us soon.â
âWe know a lot about this. Mom taught us and Isabel read me stories about it.â Celina pointed at a statue. âI know thatâs Bast.â
Aslan smiled and nodded. âIt seems like you have things to teach me. I will leave myself in your hands.â
âDr. Mafdir, thank you for asking me to join you. Are these the young girls who like Egypt?â An older gentleman walked up to them and peered at the girls over the thin rims of his glasses.
Aslan introduced everyone and the man who joined them proved to be a top expert in the field. Not only did they get a chance to get in depth knowledge of the displays, they were also given a behind the scenes tour that left Isabel in awe. Another thing that impressed her was the fact that Aslan would say when he didnât know something, instead of trying to pretend like he did, something that in her experience most grown-ups, except her mom, didnât really do. She was almost embarrassed about being seen with the group since both her Mom and Aslan acted as enthusiastic as Celina did about the whole thing.
The gift shop provided a new source of amusement. They had picked out souvenirs for a few people while Aslan was conferring with one of the curators. He approached them as they were looking through the last section.
âYou didnât seem to get a whole lot.â Aslan looked at each of them in turn with a frown. âAre you sure you donât want more? We can take more time.â
âOh we did some shopping the first day we were here and we donât want to carry too much while weâre still sightseeing. The girls picked one thing each and a couple of souvenirs.â
âWe can have them deliver anything you purchase to your hotel room if you would like to get more.â Lavi piped up beside Celina.
âThank you Lavi but I also have to consider the fact I need to get all this stuff home. It wouldnât make sense to get a lot when Iâm going to be packing it to come right back. We can always get it later.â Alicia smiled at the young man.
âYeah I donât want to pack a lot either, thatâs a pain. This I can just take anywhere with me.â Isabel held up a keychain with an Eye of Horus on it.
âThatâs a very practical way of looking at it. Even so, thereâs no rush.â Aslan smiled broadly.
âIâm done, I found what I want.â Celina came up to them and held up her stuffed animal. âCan we go soon? Iâm hungry.â
âIf you girls are done then we can go checkout.â Alicia headed to the counter with Aslan right next to her.
Isabel looked at the two as she walked behind them and noticed how close the man was to her mom, even going to far as to steer her with a hand at her back when they went through a narrow aisle. She narrowed her eyes a little as she watched them and decided to pay more attention to him during the rest of the day.
âWill that be all? Is there anything else I can help you with?â The clerk gathered the items as she began to scan them.
âYes thatâs it thank you. Celina, you have to put your stuffie up here so it can be scanned, sheâll give it right back.â
Aslan had been looking at the jewelry on display by the register and lifted a necklace crafted with yellow stones from the stand. âI think this would suit you.â He held it up to Alicia and his eyes shifted from that to her eyes and back. âIt seems to match the color of your eyes. Iâll take this too please.â He put it on the counter along with the rest of the merchandise.
âItâs very pretty but I donât need a new necklace. Iâm not sure when I would wear it either.â Alicia flipped over the price tag and read. âI canât even afford it anyway.â
âYou can wear it at work or one of the University parties we will inevitably be invited to. As far as affording it, thatâs nonsense, thereâs no way I would let you pay for all of this while in my company.â He pulled out his wallet and looked at the clerk. âPlease let me know the total.â
Alicia turned to face Aslan. âI couldnât possibly let you pay for this. The souvenirs are for my friends and family, you donât have any obligation to do this. As a matter of fact, I owe you for arranging this and being our guide. Miss, I will be paying for our items.â She picked up the necklace and hung it back on the display. âThis is indeed lovely and I appreciate the gesture very much. Maybe I will get it when I come back if itâs still here.â
âI insist. Itâs only proper that a gentleman take care of his companions in such a manner. Isnât that right Lavi?â
âYes, that is what we are taught. I should have thought of that earlier.â Laviâs shoulders slumped.
âIf I follow that logic then you have been taking care of us with this tour, as I said before, so this isnât needed.â Alicia had a look that Isabel recognized as her âIâm not changing my mind and I dare you to tryâ face.
The clerk was looking back and forth between the two adults as they argued in front of her.
Isabel was amused by the whole thing. Her mom was definitely stubborn and not used to asking for or accepting things easily. However, the man beside her seemed just as stubborn in getting his own way. Usually people who were faced with the walls that her mom threw up would back down but this man seemed determined to scale or batter them down. Personally she thought the necklace would suit her mom and she should at least say yes to that but knew there was no use in trying to convince her of that.
âYouâre a guest of this country and myself, I am bound to ensure you are happy and comfortable by the rules of hospitality. Not only that, my own personal rules also say I should do this. Please let me pay for these things.â
Ooh Aslan made a good point. I wonder what mom will do now?
âWell, it would make me feel uncomfortable if you paid for these things for us. I couldnât possibly take advantage of your generosity and it would make me unhappy to think I had. I would be thinking about that all day rather than enjoying the tour.â Alicia crossed her arms as she stared up at Aslan.
Game, set, and match. I almost feel sorry for him. Oh no, he turned on puppy dog eyes.
âUnfortunately, I canât think of a counterargument to that so I will unhappily concede to you. I can see Iâm going to have to sharpen my skills before I get into further debates with you.â
âThank you for listening to my wishes.â Alicia gave him a small smile.
âOf course.â Aslan inclined his head slightly.
âI do truly appreciate this outing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this.â
âIt is my pleasure, after all, I want to make sure you donât change your mind about coming back to teach.â
âIâm sure I wonât.â Alicia paid for the items and took the bag. âThank you very much miss.â
âGirls, as I told your mother, the cafĂŠ is only a few block away. Would you prefer to walk or ride there?â Aslan turned to them with a smile.
âEither is fine with me.â Isabel shrugged.
âWalking is good.â Celina seized her momâs hand. âLetâs go.â
At the cafĂŠ Isabel noticed that Aslan pulled out her chair then rushed to help her mom with hers and Lavi pulled out Celinaâs chair for her before taking his own seat. This was something she had only read about in books and she wondered if it was something they did in this country or just them.
She felt she was going to die from suppressing her laughter when Aslan thought he had insulted her mom. Her laughter died down when she saw how her mom suddenly looked down at the table. The look on Aslanâs face as he continued to talk to her mom planted the seed of suspicion that he liked her as more than a coworker. When her mom snatched her hand away from Aslan, she wondered what had caused it and if her mom liked him too.
Lunch was better than she expected but she braced herself for another battle of wills when it was time for the check.
âWhatâs our part of the check?â Alicia took her purse from where it hung on the back of the chair.
âLunch is part of everything I set up today and you agreed to let me handle it all last night so there will be no need for you to pay.â
Oh man, that was slick. Momâs face is kind of priceless right now.
âI appreciate your generosity.â Aliciaâs mouth twisted a little as if she couldnât decide between frowning and smiling. Isabel saw that look when either she or Celina did something wrong but in such a way that it was funny. âI truly mean it, thank you very much for today.â
âI am at your service, although the day isnât done yet.â
Isabel read the sign that said the ruins were closed to the public so was surprised when they were able to enter. Not only were they allowed in, they were able to talk to the archeologists in charge and touch some of the objects that had been found. Her attention, however, kept straying to their host. Every time she looked at him he seemed to be staring at her mom with the same kind of expression her mom had when looking at the ancient objects on display. What really intrigued her was the way her mom would look at Aslan then look away suddenly with an almost smile on her face.
By the time they got to the hotel room Isabel was too tired to talk much and ate her dinner as the conversation flowed around her. How those two still had any energy was beyond her but she was happy to see her mom so lively.
When Aslan had hugged her mom, Isabel could see that her eyes had gone wide as if surprised.
âAlright, letâs get packed up and then go to sleep, we have a long flight tomorrow.â
âIt was a really fun day wasnât it? Aslan and Lavi are really nice.â Isabel looked at her momâs face carefully as she waited for her reply.
âIt was a lot of fun and they are very nice indeed. I liked their company.â Alicia smiled as she tucked things into the suitcase.
âI think you should have said yes to the necklace, he really wanted to do that for you. He even pulled out the puppy eyes. I donât know how you resisted.â Isabel tilted her head so her mom wouldnât realize she was watching her.
âPuppy eyes donât work on me, remember? Iâm a mom.â Alicia bit her lip as she closed the suitcase. âIâm sure it was just him trying to be hospitable as he said.â
âMaybe.â Isabel closed her own suitcase and sat down on the bed. âI still think you should have taken the necklace.â
âYeah, it was really pretty and you need nice things.â Celina looked up from folding her clothes.
âI canât take gifts from people Iâve just met.â
âDoes this mean we have to give back the flower Lavi gave me at the old castle?â Celinaâs eyes filled with tears.
âThatâs fine, you donât have to give that back. Gifts are just more complicated between grownups, especially jewelry. Alright, brush your teeth and get ready for bed, Iâll finish the packing.â
**
Isabel snuck glances at the monitor in front of her mom as she spoke with Aslan. Sheâd never say so, but one of the reasons she had chosen that particular spot to place her own computer, besides ensuring no one was looking over her shoulder, was to keep an eye on things since she worried over her mom.
It was kind of funny watching the two of them interact on Skype because they both seemed oblivious to some things about the other one, her mom in particular. Isabel might not have much experience with a lot of grownups but even she could tell when Aslan was being flirty. Her mom had told her that the people in Shaharazal tended to speak in very flowery and extravagant terms, which was true, she had seen that for herself with the people she had met, but she was pretty sure Aslan was being serious. It was obvious from the way he looked at her mom to the fact that she had not heard him talking like that to anyone else during their outing.
Itâs not like her mom wasnât guilty of it herself, she did flirt with Aslan then would back off and make jokes. All in all, Isabel thought people should be more like the Sims, flirt, joke, go on dates, get married and leave the complicated stuff out of it.
âHi Isabel, you look like youâre having fun back there, are you enjoying the latest expansion pack?â Aslanâs voice startled her and she looked up.
âYeah I am, thanks to the present you gave me for my birthday I still have plenty of credit to buy them.â
âItâs been a while, you still have some? I can send another gift card if you need.â
âIâm fine, really, thank you.â Isabelâs eyes shifted as she tried to think of something to say. It had been awesome to get that card but she was vaguely uncomfortable he had spent so much so had tried to only purchase what she really wanted to make it last. âI made a whole new house this morning so now Iâm trying to figure out my Sims.â
âYou know, I canât seem to get mine to look as good as yours, maybe you can teach me your secrets when youâre here.â
âI donât think thereâs any big secret, I just like making them but I can show you how I do it.â One thing she liked about him was that he had made an effort to get to know her and Celina and seemed to genuinely like talking to them.
Isabel smiled then ducked her head back to her computer. She was relieved when he took the hint and started talking to Celina instead. He wasnât pushy about talking to her beyond her comfort levels, another point in his favor. Wonder what mom would say if I suggest she date him. Probably tell me heâs not interested, even though I think he is, then a no since she doesnât seem to want to date anyone lately. Thatâs a shame, heâs awesome and theyâd be good together.
**
They looked around their hotel room one last time before they checked out. Â
âWe are off to a whole new life, itâs kind of exciting isnât it?â Her momâs eyes sparkled as she made sure everything was clean and they hadnât forgotten anything.
âI miss our stuff.â Celina picked at frill on her dress.
âMom said our stuff would be coming in a few weeks and there is furniture in the new place, remember the pictures? And weâll be able to visit Zen in the quarantine as much as we can till they allow her to come home within a few days after we land, mom said so.â
âYes we will, I know we all miss her. Alright, looks like we have everything. Before we head out, I have something I need to tell the two of you, sit down please.â
As soon as they sat down their mom faced them and began to speak.
âYou two know we have become friends with Aslan right? Well I found out two things last night that might make a slight difference.â
Isabel wondered what it could possibly be. She didnât think it was bad news because her mom didnât look upset but at the same time it seemed like whatever it was could be a very big deal.
âWell the first thing is that he is the second in line for the throne. His brother is going to become the King of the country so the guy we know as Aslan is actually Prince Aslan, though he has asked us not to call him by title, and Lavi is his butler.â
âHeâs what?â Isabel tried to process that information.
âDoes he live in a castle? Can we see it? Does he have a crown? Do you think heâd let me see it?â Celina started racing around the room in her excitement then threw herself around on the bed.
âCelina, calm down please. He does live in the palace and we saw it from the outside, I donât know if we could see the inside, Iâm sure they have tours though. You would probably have to ask him if he has a crown, I have no idea on that one.â
âThatâs really shocking, now Iâm wondering what the second thing was that you found out. Does he secretly perform experiments to try to cross breed camels and scorpions or something?â
âNo, though that would either be really cool or really terrifying, maybe both.â Alicia sat down and looked shy all of a sudden. âThe second thing is that apparently he has feelings for me and he asked me out. I said yes because I like him like that too but only if the two of you approve.â
âOf course I approve. Iâve been wondering what was taking you so long, glad he finally asked you out.â Isabel tried not to roll her eyes at her momâs words.
âDoes this mean youâll be a princess? Thatâs awesome. Would we be princesses?â
âWait a moment, Iâm not marrying the guy, Iâm only dating him a bit. Princes canât marry commoners, they have to marry people who also have titles but nothing says we canât spend time together.â
Isabel frowned at those words. âAs long as youâre happy and donât let it make you unhappy Iâm fine with it.â
âMe too mommy. We just like seeing you smile.â Celina hugged Alicia then kissed her cheek. âI know youâd be a good princess though.â
âWell, now that we got that settled, I think itâs time to go. Group hug.â Alicia stood up and gathered them to her.
**
Isabel lay in bed thinking over the day as she tried to sleep. It had been a very long flight and she was exhausted but she was also kind of wired.
It had been really nice of Aslan to make the place comfortable for them, she was really happy with the way her room was decorated. She wasnât sure how he had known just what to pick but it had been perfect. Celinaâs room was also perfect for her though Isabel was pretty sure she wouldnât be spending much time in that room, there was way too much pink for her tastes.
The other things, like having food for them, had been really helpful too. When she found one of her favorite meals labeled with her name she almost cried at having that familiar comfort. Prince Aslan was a really nice guy who liked to take care of people, it reminded her of her own mom. She wondered how them dating would go since both liked to be generous. At least her mom had accepted the phone from him without arguing too much although she had to wonder how tired her mom was to give in so easily.
It will be very interesting to see what happens at dinner tomorrow.
**
âMommy, Aslan and Lavi seem to be arguing in the driveway.â Celina turned from the window.
Isabel looked out the other window. âI donât think theyâre arguing but Aslan definitely looks intense.â
âIâll see whatâs going on. Maybe Aslan changed his mind?â
âI really doubt that. Iâll go check on the stew.â Isabel headed to the kitchen while her mom sorted things out.
Over dinner, she couldnât decide what was funnier, Laviâs expressions as he tried to keep up with Celinaâs conversation or the way Aslan would stare at her mom then try to hide he was doing that when she looked up.
She encouraged them to go ahead to the living room without them to give them some time alone, sheâd seen enough movies and TV to know grownups would need that. Unfortunately, Lavi was really good at doing dishes so they finished quickly.
At the door when they said goodbye Aslan kept staring at her momâs face so she had tried to get Celina and Lavi to go back to the kitchen but both had stubbornly hung on as they tried to be part of the conversation. Itâs really hard being the responsible one. Geez youâd think at least Lavi would take the hint.
Finally, Aslan and Lavi left and her mom flopped on the couch. âCelina go get ready for bed.â
âOkay.â Celina scampered out of the room.
âWell that went well I think.â Isabel sat down next to her mom.
âYes it did. Theyâre just as nice as I remembered. Lavi seems to have a little crush on Celina.â Alicia smiled.
âI totally ship it.â
âJust donât push it, let them be kids.â Her mom reached over and messed with her hair.
âStop.â She batted her momâs hand away then smoothed her hair down. âAslan really likes you, I totally ship that, too.â
âWeâll see. Weâre going out on Friday but I donât think heâll keep asking me out. Donât get too attached to him.â
âIf you say so mom.â
**
Isabel sighed as her mom fixed the collar on Aslanâs official uniform.
âAre you okay?â Aslan looked her way over the top of her momâs head.
âIâm fine, itâs just that it hit me that youâre really a prince seeing you in your uniform and knowing theyâre doing all these things for your birthday including a parade.â
Aslan walked over and knelt so theyâd be on the same eye level. âYou, your sister, and your mom help me forget Iâm a prince all the time so thank you for that. Believe me, I wish I didnât have to go through all of this, Iâd rather be doing something else, anything else. At least you have good seats for the parade and the other things.â
âCelina and I have presents for you, can we give them to you now since we wonât attend the ball later?â
âYou didnât have to do that, your mom gave me a wonderful present last night.â
âWe know, but we wanted to do something too. Here.â Celina shoved a box at Aslan and he took it from her with a smile.
âHereâs mine too.â Isabel picked up the package that was behind her back and gave it to him.
âThank you both so much, let me open them.â Aslan reached for the ribbon on the first one.
âPrince Aslan, you have to go to the car that will take you to the parade now or youâll be late.â A secretary came into the room and tapped his watch.
âI will as soon as Iâm done with this. Opening gifts from two of my favorite people is way more important. You may wait outside.â He sat on the couch between Isabel and Celina then slid his finger under the edge of the paper to loosen the tape.
âDo you like it? Nousha helped me make it.â Celina bounced with enthusiasm.
âI love it, Iâll use it right now.â Aslan hugged Celina then took the keychain out of the box. âOh, wait, I donât have any keys on me right now. It doesnât matter, Iâll put it in my pocket for good luck all day.â He opened the next one and smiled when he looked inside the box.
âThis is great, it looks just like the ocean. What kind of stone is it?â Aslan lifted it out of the box and held it up to the light.
âItâs an Ethiopian Opal called Welo.â
âThank you Isabel. I wonât hug you but at least shake hands?â He stuck his hand out and Isabel shook it.
âJust for today since itâs your birthday.â Isabel gave him a quick, one-armed hug then withdrew. âAre you sure you like it?â
âI love it, Iâll put it on display right now.â Aslan went to the shelf that held the pirate ship Alicia had given him and placed the stone beside it. âIt gives it just the right touch. Iâm really happy, this is really the best birthday ever. I wish the four of you could be with me all day to celebrate but you will be with me in spirit at least. Lavi, would you do me a favor and escort the three lovely ladies today in my stead?â
Lavi bowed. âOf course Aslan. It will be my honor.â
Isabel tried not to smile at his solemn expression. She knew Lavi would take his duties very seriously but she had no doubt Celina would be able to cajole him into loosening up a bit. It was funny how much Aslan and Lavi seemed to have changed since they met them but she liked the changes. As she looked around the room she realized that they had fit in so well with them that she thought of them as family.
**
Isabel had been in the Shaharazal palace a few times but had to admit the castle at Nobel Michel was just as impressive. Aslan was giving them a brief tour when they ran across two men who were wearing elaborate uniforms.
âWhoâs this Aslan? Does Shaharazal also have girl butlers?â The man in the red coat smiled at them and she felt her heart flutter.
Aslan introduced them but when Oliver knelt and kissed her hand Isabel was stunned into silence. She was grateful that Aslan had stepped in front of them since she was sure her blush had turned her face redder than the Princeâs coat. On the other hand, it meant she couldnât really see Oliver anymore.
She was still giggling about Lavi getting jealous because Celina was looking at Kuon when the situation took an unexpected twist. Somehow, the three of them had ended up in Oliverâs company on their way to the portrait hall without Aslan. Her steps slowed down as she tried to make herself as inconspicuous as possible, hoping Oliver would concentrate on the other two.
âIsabel, why are you lagging behind? We canât get this tour done properly without you.â Oliver had turned to her and flashed a grin at her.
Panic set in and she tried to think of something to say.
âIsabel really likes to learn all she can about everything since sheâs so smart so if she gets quiet itâs because sheâs thinking.â Lavi stepped up to Oliver and bowed slightly. âIâll watch and make sure she doesnât get lost.â
âI see. My apologies Isabel.â Oliver bowed to her and smiled. âI wonât press you with many questions.â
âItâs okay.â Isabel managed a half smile.
âHere, look, this is our mom.â Celina shoved Laviâs phone at Oliver. âShe teaches with Aslan and likes to tell us stories.â
âSheâs very pretty. You two do look like her, especially you Isabel, although you do have your own charm and I believe you will outshine her when youâre old enough.â Oliver smiled briefly at her then looked at Celina. âYour mom seems very nice.â
âShe is nice.â Isabel spoke up without thinking then shut her mouth almost immediately.
Celina had no problem with talking to Oliver so launched into a few stories about their mom.
âSounds like your mom is a good person, I should meet her.â
âMiss Alicia is very good, sheâs perfect for Prince Aslan, and she makes him happy.â Lavi looked up at Oliver with a fierce expression on his face.
âYouâre a good man Lavi, you defend both yours and Aslanâs territory admirably. However, I think you need a little advice. Come here.â Oliver talked with Lavi in a quiet voice a bit away from the girls as they walked.
Oliver stopped in front of a portrait of a gorgeous silver haired man. âThis is the former King Edward of Charles, he is quite the poetic soul. If you ever met him heâd call you a flower fairy, a very fitting description for you my dear.â
Isabel giggled and blushed when she heard that but was saved from having to respond by the arrival of a frazzled looking Aslan.
It was easy to see Aslan was jealous of Oliver which seemed plain out silly to Isabel. She knew Oliver was teasing him and she also knew her mom wasnât likely to look twice at Oliver. Isabel wasnât sure what had happened while she, Lavi, and Celina had been at camp but they had come back to find the couple being even more sickeningly sweet than before. Not only were they still hugging, touching, and kissing each other as often as possible, they had added saying I love you to each other at what seemed to be increasingly frequent intervals. Still, she was secretly pleased to see her mom happy even if it embarrassed her to see the grownups acting like teenagers.
A few days later, Isabel and Celina were taking dance lessons from Gigi in the ballroom.
âYouâre both marvelous dancers, Iâm impressed with how fast youâve picked it up.â Â Isabel looked at the door and saw Oliver had come in with the rest of the princes behind him.
âOf course they did, theyâre both very smart and talented.â Aslan smiled at them and Isabel rolled her eyes a little as she smiled back.
âYou have to say that, youâre our.â Isabel trailed off not sure what she was going to say.
âTheyâre very quick learners and charming young ladies, itâs been a pleasure teaching them.â Gigi spoke from the side where he had been watching over them. âThis is a perfect opportunity, why donât some of you dance with them so they can get used to different partners?â
âThatâs a great idea. Kuon, you should partner with Celina.â Oliver gave the man in question a little push, a mischievous smile on his face.
Kuon sighed. âWhy? Thereâs plenty of other guys here, I donât like dancing.â
Celina looked down at the floor, sadness written all over her face. Lavi was beside her looking very conflicted, alternating between looking pleased and shooting daggers at Kuon.
Hayden approached Celina.
âMy lady, would you honor me with a dance?â Hayden bowed before her and held out his hand.
âOf course.â Celina gave him a huge smile and placed her hand in his.
âWould you honor me with a dance little fairy?â Max bowed to Isabel, a small smile on his face.
Isabel tried to nod calmly as she placed her hand in Maxâs.
As they danced, Isabel kept an eye on the ballroom as she talked with him about movies. Aslan was watching over them proudly, Oliver was patting Lavi on the shoulder and the rest were talking amongst themselves. She could see that Kent was gesturing as he talked to Kuon and wondered what that was about.
When the dance was over Lavi moved towards Celina but Kuon arrived a second before him. âMiss Celina, would you honor me with a dance?â Â Kuon bowed to Celina, his face slightly red.
âYes!â Celina grabbed his hand and beamed up at him as they got in position.
Laviâs face was like a thundercloud and Isabel was on her way to check on him when she was stopped by an elegant older gentleman she recognized as Prince Kevinâs butler, Luke.
âMay I have the honor of this dance Miss Isabel?â
âOf course.â Isabel smiled and they began a sedate pace. As they danced she could see Celina happily chatting while she danced with Kuon and Aslan talking to an upset looking Lavi.
âIâm glad I have a chance to speak with you miss, after all, I have experience in helping commoners transition to royalty. Even Prince Kevin had some difficulties along the way. If you ever need advice or even a sympathetic ear as you make your own transition, I would be happy to help you.â Luke smiled briefly at her.
âWhat transition? Iâm not becoming a royal.â Isabel frowned up at him.
âDid I misread the situation? Prince Aslan has acted more like a father to you than anything else and the way he talks about your mother gave me the impression he has marriage in mind.â
Isabel knew it was rude to stare but she couldnât help it as she thought about what Luke had said. Her gaze drifted towards Aslan then back up to Luke. âI donât know. Until this moment I hadnât really thought about what Aslan might do but I have felt like weâre family.â
âPlease keep my offer in mind miss, I have lived a long time and seen many things. I have a feeling that you will have an answer before the end of the summit.â
âThank you.â She smiled up at him and they chatted about the summit as their dance continued.
Two nights later Aslan asked them to talk to him in the suiteâs living room after dinner.
Isabel sat curled up on the couch with Celina and Lavi beside her as she watched Aslan pace around the room.
He finally sat down and faced them. âIsabel, Celina, Lavi. Iâve been thinking about this for a while and I have made a decision but I want to talk about it with you first since youâre part of it. You all know how much I love Alicia and I love her more with each day. I want to ask her to marry me but I wonât do that unless I have your approval.â Aslan held up a hand when they started talking. âThere is more. I have come to think of you girls as my own as well. What Iâm saying is that I know itâs not just about marrying your mom, itâs about becoming a family officially since I already feel like we are one. What do you think?â
Luke was right!
Celina jumped up and went to hug Aslan. âIâm okay with it, does this mean youâll be our dad?â
Aslan hugged her back. âI wonât push it but Iâd like to be your dad. Whatever youâre comfortable with.â
âI like the sound of dad.â Celina smiled.
âDonât call me that yet though, I want to plan a surprise proposal for your mom, that is, if Isabel and Lavi are also alright with it.â Aslan looked at them.
âMiss Alicia is good for you. It would be nice to be a family and have everyone together.â Lavi smiled shyly as he shot a glance at Celina.
âIsabel, if youâre not sure about it, I can wait until you are. There is no rush.â Aslan looked at her with a gentle expression.
âI say yes. Iâd also like to be a family. I just donât know what mom will say about the whole thing.â Isabel smiled as she thought about it. âWhen did you want to propose and can we help pick out the ring?â
âI thought about doing it during the birthday trip we planned for her. Yes, you can help with that. As a matter of fact, Iâd like your help in getting to know Freda and some of your momâs friends a bit better before that as well. Can you do that for me Isabel?â
âNo problem.â She pulled her phone out and started looking through her contacts list.
**
Isabel looked at Celina and Lavi after Aslan ran out the front door. âWell, that could have gone better.â
âDo you think mom will be okay?â Celinaâs eyes were wet with tears.
âAslan will make sure sheâs safe, donât worry.â Lavi patted Celina and smiled at her.
âShe will be okay. What I worry about is her being stubborn and saying no to marrying Aslan.â
âDoesnât she love him? Why wouldnât she want to marry him so he can be our new dad?â
âMom sometimes thinks she doesnât deserve to be happy. Sheâll work hard to make sure everyone else is but for herself, she has a hard time.â Isabel reached out and hugged Celina for a moment before she remembered herself and let go.
Lavi frowned. âBut Aslan is happy with her and sad without her so her saying no would make him sad.â
âKnowing mom she probably thinks heâd be happier without her or something. Oh, I think the maid is here so letâs be quiet for now.â Isabel grabbed the ring box and stuffed it in her pocket.
They waited for a while but Isabel finally lost her patience. âMiss, would you please make us some tea?â
The maid nodded and went to the kitchen. Isabel put her finger to her lips and waved the other two over to the door. They slipped out as quietly as they could and made their way to the beach. When Isabel spotted them they walked over to them as quickly as they could. What she could hear of their conversation made her heart sink and she knew she had to step in and say something.
It may not have been fair for them all to gang up on her mom like that but it was for her own good. She did think Aslan was pushing it a little by telling her all the messages from other people but it seemed to go well anyway. Isabel did wonder why he hadnât seen it coming that her mom would say no at first since so many others had figured that would happen. Her eye roll hurt her head but she couldnât help it, her parents could be very dense about each other sometimes.
Her momâs proposal to Aslan shocked her a bit but she was really proud of her for it since it was about time she saw what everyone else saw. Isabel was happy to give Aslan the ring and she joined in the group hug without a second thought.
**
Isabel watched as Lavi danced with Celina and smiled at how proud he had been of himself when Celina had opted to dance with him instead of making a beeline for Kuon.
âMay I have the honor of this dance my lady?â Isabel looked at Oliver as he bowed slightly.
âYou may.â Isabel grinned and let him lead her onto the dance floor.
âYouâve come a long way since we first met, youâre not as shy as you used to be.â Oliver smiled at her as they danced.
âPrincess training will do that to a person I guess.â
âHowâs that going?â
âPretty well though mom had to fit it in around work and wedding preparation. Iâm kind of glad she made it to today in one piece.â She looked over at her mom and smiled. âShe looks great though.â
Oliver followed her gaze. âShe does look beautiful. Your father was a bit sneaky not letting any of us meet her till after the ceremony earlier but it sure made an impact on us seeing her for the first time in her wedding gown.â
âAslan never listened when I told him he didnât need to be jealous. I knew you just liked teasing him and mom wouldnât really pay any attention to you.â
âIsabel, you wound me.â Oliver put on a sad face. âAlthough youâre right, I never had any real intention on trying to steal your mom. However, when youâre old enough, you should consider joining my harem.â
Isabel stopped dancing and looked Oliver in the eye. âThank you for the offer but I will have to decline. I am worth so much more than just being one girl out of many in some guyâs harem. I am worthy of being someoneâs one and only.â
âSeems like I didnât need to step in after all. Iâm proud of you Isabel.â Aslan smiled at her fondly as he placed a hand on her shoulder.
âSo am I actually. I will have to keep an eye on you as you grow up.â Oliver smiled. âAslan, you have a wonderful family, congratulations.â
âI do, donât I? Two great daughters, a wonderful wife, my awesome ward, my step-daughter, Iâm a lucky man, thank you. Isabel, would you do me the honor of a father daughter dance?â
âIâd be happy to.â
a/n Basically, how I met Prince Aslan, instead of an AU. Since he lectures at university on occasion I figured thatâs how we met.
Prince Joshua, Prince Roberto, Prince Keith, Prince Edward, Prince Aslan, Prince Yakov, Prince Ivan.
1. I need to get this rare book for my studies but youâre that asshole who didnât bring it back for 3 weeks now and I check the library everyday for you AU
Amy was determined that today would be the day sheâd get her hands on that book. Putting a hold on it hadnât worked, calling the library every few hours hadnât worked, so now all she had was one last plan.
She placed the box of expensive cupcakes on the checkout desk. âThis is a blatant attempt at bribery. Iâm setting up right over there.â She pointed towards the table that was in full view of both the door and desk. âThe moment that book comes in, I need it. Please help me.â
The librarian stared at the box. âThese are.â
Amy cut him off. âYes, just what you think they are, and I can get more of them, I have an in with the owner so theyâre not hard to get for me. I will double that if you can call the person who has my book.â
âYouâre right, I think a phone call is in order at this point.â The librarian whisked the cupcake box out of sight. âWill you throw in the special karat cake one if I can get you that book this week?â
âBernie, Iâll get you a half dozen if you get it today.â
âIâll do my best.â Bernie started typing furiously on the computer.
*pssttt*
Amy looked up to see Bernie pointing at a violet haired man in front of him. She stood up and marched to the desk.
âWhat did you think you were doing? I need that book for class and I only have a few days left. I placed a hold on the thing, why did you keep it so long?â
The man turned red. âI thought I had renewed it, I had no idea it hadnât gone through so was overdue. Itâs very unlike me, I always follow the rules.â
âWell, you should have checked on that or responded to the letters Iâm sure the library sent you. Now hand me the book, I need to get to work right away.â Amy held out her hand.
âI canât do that, I need to turn it in properly and accept any punishment.â He shoved the book at Bernie. âPlease check me in and let me know any fines and whatever else I have to do to atone from my crime.â
âNo, donât do that, it will take hours before I can check it back out, Iâll pay any fines that accumulate from today, just please let me have it.â
âActually, sheâs right, someone else placed a hold on that book two minutes before Amy did, she wouldnât be able to check it out.â Bernie looked at the two of them over his monitor.
âPlease, just let me have it for today, I promise I will return it properly.â Amy didnât want to plead but at this point she felt she had no choice. âI donât want to fail.â
The manâs purple eyes shifted from the book in his hands to her face. âBut rules are rules. Iâm sorry that I kept it so long but I have to return it.â
Amy blew out an exasperated breath. âHow am I supposed to write my paper without it?â She slumped as she tried to think of what to do.
âSir, I canât actually get into the system to check you back in. Maybe you can help her while I wait for it to come back up?â Bernie gave a surreptitious thumbs up to Amy behind the other manâs back.
âI suppose itâs the least I can do since my rule breaking led to your predicament.â
âThank you! Come this way, I set up over here. Iâm Amy by the way.â
âPlease, call me Joshua. I memorized the book so I can answer all questions you have about it.â
âYouâre a lifesaver! Please, let me buy you dinner later to thank you.â Amy smiled and he blushed, making him even cuter than before.
2. I try to shoplift my favourite sweets and tuck too much of them into my jacket but I bump into you and they all fall to the ground so I scream RUN RUN TAKE ALL YOU CAN CARRY and you do and we hide somewhere and share the prey AU
âPlease, canât you overlook this? I mean, theyâre just going to be thrown away.â Xiao allowed her desperation to come through, hoping it would saw the employee in front of her.
âNo, I canât, I could get fired for this. Now please let me get back to work.â The young woman got back to work taking the candy off the shelves and stuffing them in the box in front of her.
Xiao shifted her weight as she tried to think of something else to do. This was her last chance to get this candy unless she ordered it from overseas but that was likely to be expensive consider it was now banned where she lived. As she pondered her options, she heard a crash from the next aisle over.
âOh what now?â The employee stood up and hustled over to check what was going on.
Without stopping to think about it, Xiao started grabbing the candy and shoving it in her pockets, down her shirt, in her waistband, really, anywhere she thought she could keep some of it. When she felt she couldnât carry anymore she took off at a brisk pace towards the other end of the aisle. As she rounded the corner she bumped into someone and her candy started falling. Their eyes met and she did the only sensible thing she could think of at the moment.
âRun and take all that you can carry! Follow me!â Xiao grabbed some of the candy as the brown haired man followed suit. When they hit the sidewalk Xiao veered left. âThis way!â
They ran until they got to a small park a few yards away. Xiao made a beeline for some hedges and gestured to the man following her. âIn here, thereâs a secluded spot here.â
She dove in with the other person close behind her. They sat down on the grass, looked at each other, and laughed.
âIâm so sorry about this, I turned you into a criminal but these are worth it!â Xiao held out a hand. âIâm Xiao, whatâs your name?â
âIâm Roberto.â He shook her hand and smiled. âNo worries, I was planning on doing the same thing, who do you think created the distraction.
âYou like these too?â Xiao pulled the candy out and spread it between them.
âLike them? I love them! The moment I heard they were banned I went looking for them and this store was the last place I looked. When I saw you arguing with the lady I figured Iâd make noise, sneak in and take some. I hadnât expected you to do the same thing but Iâm glad you did.â
He opened his jacket to reveal that not only had he grabbed some from her stash, he had taken some of his own. âI guess if weâre going to be partners in crime we should also be partners in the loot. I donât mind sharing with someone as cute as you are.â
Xiao unwrapped one of the chocolates and bit into it. âYou may want to hurry then, Iâm not going to wait for you.â
Roberto followed suit. âIâm sure I can keep up with this and anything else you care to throw at me.â His eyes, the same delicious color as the chocolate he bit into, sparkled as he threw the challenge at her. âWhatever we donât finish today we can split up and maybe meet again to eat it? After all, this tastes even better in your company.â
3. Youâre sitting with a group of friends directly behind me at the movies but your annoying sarcastic comments on the film crack me up and you notice me laughing AU
Kay had been annoyed at the constant commentary behind her at first but now she was amused. She had to admit, the manâs observations were dead on.
âHow the hell do they expect me to believe that motorcycle went up the side of that building like that? Let me guess, someone sprinkled it with pixie dust. Would make more sense than the rest of this crap has so far.â
She couldnât help it, the giggles she had been holding back burst out of her and she laughed right out loud.
âOh come on! Itâs a horse? Did anyone actually write this script or did they just film random things?â
Kay covered her mouth as her shoulders shook. They were maybe half an hour into the movie and so far it was just as bad as the man behind her was saying it was. She wished she had a friend with her to share her comments on but for now, she settled for listening to the guy behind her. If it werenât for him, sheâd probably have walked out.
âKeith, shut up and watch the movie already, youâre annoying me.â
âBut this is bad, and not even so bad itâs good. Did you see that? They changed the actor and expected us not to notice!â
âYouâre not funny, just let me watch in peace.â
âShe thinks Iâm funny.â
Kay froze when she heard that, wondering if he was talking about her. A tap on her shoulder made her jump and she turned around to find herself faced with emerald green eyes set in a face that was too handsome to be allowed.
âYou think what Iâm saying is funny, right?â
She was torn over how to answer. He was right, she did think he was funny, but he had the look of someone who thought way too highly of himself and she wasnât sure she should encourage it.
âI mean, you gotta admit, the movie would be greatly improved if it was acted out by lemurs instead.â
A peal of laughter burst out of Kayâs mouth before she could cover it. The man who had spoken grinned in obvious satisfaction. He stood up and climbed over the seat to settle next to her. âIâll sit with you since my buddies donât appreciate me.â He stuck his hand in her popcorn box and grabbed a handful.
âHey, that was rude, you should ask before you just take someoneâs food.â Kay slapped his hand as he tried reaching for the box again.
âConsider it payment for making the movie bearable for you. If it wasnât for me, youâd be miserable right about now.â He gave her a grin that left her no doubt that he meant every word.
âIâm going to have to ask the two of you to leave, youâre disrupting the other guests.â The usher shone a light on them and his tone brooked no argument.
âSee what you did? You got us kicked out!â Kay hissed at the man beside her.
âWho cares? This was awful, letâs go see a different one.â He stood up with an easy grace and held his hand out to her. âYou coming?â
Kay stood up and shuffled to the aisle. âFine but youâre paying for both a new movie and dinner. Iâm Kay by the way.â
âIâm Keith. Letâs go, maybe we can find an empty theater and I can amuse you further.â
She rolled her eyes at him. âYou think highly of yourself donât you?â
âWouldnât you if you were me?â
What did I get myself into?
4. I accompany my little cousin on halloween to go trick-or-treating but you wonât open the door although I know youâre at home and stinkinâ rich so I plot a revenge plan with all the kids from the neighbourhood AU
âI know youâre in there! Your lights are on!â Marni pounded on the door one last time.
âCome on, thereâs other houses to go to.â Her cousin tugged on her shirt.
âBut this guy is rich, why wonât he open the door? Is it just me or us? What the hell.â
âI want more candy, look, they have some over there.â
âFine, but Iâll be back.â Marni shook her fist at the offensively silent door. âIâll get my revenge.â
A few hours later she had gathered a few of the neighborhood kids and armed them with eggs.
âAlright, I will ring the doorbell and see if he opens up. If he does, pelt him with the eggs. If he doesnât, we egg the windows and tp the trees. Got it?â
âGot it!â
Marni rang the doorbell and scampered backwards, egg at the ready. The door opened and all she could see was a bright halo of silver hair and the outline of a man.
âOh kids, Iâm glad you came back, I couldnât answer earlier but.â His words were cut off as Marniâs egg hit him square in the face. âWhatâ He spluttered as more eggs hit him.
âThatâs what you get for giving out good candy to some people but not to others.â Marni marched up so she could get a closer look at the man. âOh.â Her righteous indignation petered out as she realized he was really cute even while covered in eggs.
âI do apologize, it wasnât my intent to make anyone feel left out. I couldnât answer the door because I was on a very important phone call. I was glad to see you all again, here.â He reached beside the door and grabbed a bowl. âAll the candy you missed out on.â
âWell, it seems Iâm the one with egg on my face.â Marni muttered. âIâm sorry, we thought you were just being rude. Can I buy you some coffee to make up for it?â
âI would be delighted.â The man smiled. Okay, how can he be that good looking and nice even at this moment? âOr if youâd like, after I get cleaned up, I can take you to dinner.â
âWait, are you plotting some sort of revenge for this?â
âNot at all, this was all in good fun. Iâm Edward, and you are?â He held out an elegant hand, the sincerity in his amethyst eyes hard to resist.
âIâm Marni. Iâll get the kids home and then we can do dinner.â She shook his hand and approved of his strong grip.
Edward nodded. âI should be ready by then. Iâm looking forward to dinner Marni.â
âSame. Okay kids, letâs go home now that you have your candy.â She gathered them all and took one last look at the house. This had really been a strange evening.
5. We are at an art exhibition and we stand in front of a big abstract pai nting for a long time until you say very calmly: âthatâs definitely a penis.â and we both start giggling and everybodyâs staring at us AU
Alicia was frozen with indecision. The guy standing next to her was really cute and she wanted to strike up a conversation but wasnât sure what to say.
They had both been standing there a long time, neither saying a word. In her case, she was still trying to figure out just what the painting was supposed to represent. The title of it, Inhuman Machine Human, made no sense when she considered what the painting actually looked like.
You need to come up with something soon, heâll go away and youâll miss your chance. Maybe say something about the colors? No, not the colors, that just adds to what it looks like.
She looked at the man out of the corner of her eyes and saw his deep blue eyes crinkle in thought. Okay, if you could bs an entire five page essay about courage you can bs something thoughtful to say about this. Oh, I know, I can say something about how machines are replacing us more and more.
Alicia turned her head to look at the man and saw he seemed on the verge of saying something.
âThatâs definitely a penis.â The man said this calmly then turned red and ducked his head as if heâd realized what he had said.
She blinked then started to giggle. âOh thank the gods, I thought I was the only one who saw that.â She covered her mouth as her giggles increased.
The man turned to her and she noticed how his jet black hair fell over his eyes as amusement crossed his face. âI meant to say something else that sounded more intellectual to try to impress you but I guess that image wouldnât leave.â He also erupted in giggles.
Hearing him laugh increased her own and her shoulders shook as she tried to contain herself. An unladylike snort escaped her but it only had the effect of making them both laugh more. She reached out to him without thinking and laid a hand on his arm for support.
âI was going to say something about how machines are replacing humans but.â She shrugged.
âThat would have probably made it worse.â He covered her hand with his as they continued to laugh.
âI think everyone is staring at us.â Alicia looked around as she wiped away some tears, her laughter still escaping her.
âYouâre right, maybe we should leave and get some coffee, my treat. My nameâs Aslan, whatâs yours?â
âIâm Alicia. Change coffee to tea and you have a deal.â
âI prefer tea as well, letâs go.â He smiled at her and they exited the gallery hand in hand, still giggling over the painting.
6. Youâre a street artist and constantly paint on my nice house facade and everytime I have it cleaned again you come back and redo it until I finally catch you and oh heck youâre cute and actually talented AU
Yakov was irritated. This was the tenth time since he had moved in that he had woken up to find his house covered in art and what seemed to be Chinese words. He dialed the number of the cleaning crew and waited.
âMr. Chernenkov, did it happen again?â The voice on the other hand was cheery.
âYes, it did. How soon can you be out here?â Of course the guy was cheerful, he was making a fortune from Yakovâs misfortune.
âFor you, an hour. We will give you todays at half price since itâs your tenth time.â
âFine.â
The day passed and Yakov decided he had enough. He napped in the afternoon so he could be alert all night to try to catch the gang that kept defacing his beautiful home.
Night fell and the neighborhood was still and silent. He watched from across the street as he waited for the criminals to spring the trap he had set. A lone figure approached his house and started shimmying up the drain pipe. Yakov wanted to catch the whole gang so he decided to wait for the rest of them. Fifteen minutes had passed and the criminal had made a lot of progress on whatever it was they were painting this time.
âAlright, there must only be one then. He works fast.â His voice held a tinge of grudging admiration as he moved towards his house. He pressed the button to release the net he had rigged from the roof. Leisurely he climbed to the second floor and stepped out on his balcony to address the criminal who was struggling with the ropes.
âI will call the police here in a moment but would you mind telling me why you keep ruining my house?â
âPlease let me go.â
Yakov was startled to hear a girlish voice coming from the net. He pulled it closer to him and peered in.
âYouâre a girl!â Â A really cute girl.
âTell me something I donât know. Look, would you let me go? Iâm sorry for what Iâve done but I was trying to keep a promise, I didnât know someone was living here.â
âWhat promise?â
âA friend of mine grew up here and she always wanted me to paint the outside of her house. She died in an accident before I could keep that promise so I wanted to do something to honor her. I thought this place was abandoned. Now that I know itâs not, Iâll stop.â
âYou did this all by yourself? In one night?â
âYes. I said I was sorry. Can I go now?â
âOh yes, sorry, hold on.â Yakov helped her get loose and set her on the balcony. âIâm Yakov.â
âIâm Jo. Iâm sorry for all the trouble I caused. How can I make it up to you?â
âHave lunch with me tomorrow.â Now that she was out of the net Yakov could see that her looks matched her considerable talent and had softened his attitude towards her.
âWhat? You want me to cook for you?â Jo stared at the taller man in disbelief.
âNo, I want to take you to lunch. Now that I know why you did it I think I can forgive you. Plus, you have amazing talent, Iâd hate to see that go to waste. Now I just want to get to know you since fate put you in my path. Come in, Iâll brew some tea.â
He opened the door and waved her in. Jo followed reluctantly, wondering what the hell had just happened.
7. Itâs too hot and too full in the tube and we stand too close together but oh you smell so heavenly and now I canât get you out of my mind AU
Itâs so hot oh geez every day I tell myself Iâm going to leave earlier and every day I end up stuck with all these people.
Chia shifted as she tried to get comfortable. The next stop brought in a fresh wave of people and she found herself pressed up against a manâs very toned body. His scent invaded her senses and she closed her eyes to breathe it in properly.
âI apologize, thereâs really nowhere for me to go.â A deep voice sounded from above and Chia looked up into a pair of icy blue eyes.
âItâs alright, it canât be helped.â The train stopped and Chia wondered why instead of feeling relief to get off the train she felt disappointed. With a hiss, the doors shut behind her, cutting off what she thought was the last traces of the man she had been in contact with.
However, his scent clung to her and it hit her anew every time she moved. As the day wore on it wore off but by then, the man had firmly occupied a corner of her mind. She knew nothing about him but she itched to find out if his blonde hair was as soft as it looked.
She didnât spot him on the way back home but held out hope that she might see him again the next day.
There was no sign of him and by the next Monday she had almost forgotten about him. With a sigh, her shoulders slumped as she got crowded yet again. The doors closed and the scent that had haunted her for days drifted over her again. She couldnât turn to check the source but something told her it was the same man. Unfortunately, there were too many people and she couldnât spot him as she left.
This continued for a few days and Chia thought she would go crazy as she tried to see if she could spot the man. One particular afternoon found her in an even more crowded train than usual but she froze when she felt someone being shoved into her space.
âMy apologies.â
That voice! That heavenly scent! She tried to turn her head to talk to him but it was almost impossible. He was gone at the next stop before she could figure out what to say to him.
That night she made sure she tucked a few business cards into her pockets and the side of her purse where she could slip one out easily to hand to the stranger next time she saw him.
She had no luck on the morning train but kept thinking about him as she made her way to the deli in her building. Her eyes were scanning the menu in front of her when that heavenly scent enveloped her. She turned quickly and found herself staring at the man she had been dreaming about.
âI thought I recognized you, your perfume was a giveaway. Iâve been trying to figure out how to find you to talk to you. My name is Ivan, can I buy you lunch?â
Chiaâs jaw dropped but she recovered quickly. âLunch would be lovely. Iâm Chia, nice to meet you.â
Harem Hijinks, The Harem Gets Scolded (Soryu, Baba, Aslan)
Iâve gotten asks about a lot of my stories and when the next parts are coming out, especially Soryuâs! I had a talk with my harem about this very thing so if you are curious, hereâs the transcript from that meeting.
This is pure crack.Â
Harem Hijinks. The Harem Gets Scolded.
âListen guys, we have a problem here. I am way behind on writing certain stories and readers are asking me when I am going to finish certain ones, especially yours.â Cia pointed her finger at the tall, quiet mobster.
âI told you, for me to inspire you to complete the story I want you to put in the idea you had.â Soryu folded his arms and glared from his seat at the small redhead who was standing on a small stage in front of them.
Baba laid a friendly hand on Soryuâs shoulder. âDonât be a sore loser Soryu. The pretty lady thought of me for that sexy scenario. Just because you got demoted in the ranks doesnât mean you have to be such a spoilsport. You are already getting a three part series and you are one of the most popular guys in the fandom.â
Soryu turned his glare to Baba and looked pointedly at the hand on his shoulder.
Baba removed the hand and turned towards the stage. âI understand that you gained a husbando and he took your attention pretty lady but I would like it if you still wrote the story you had planned, complete with that scene Sor is trying to steal. I think itâs exciting. An adventure story with a supernatural twist and you as my worthy opponent. Not enough stories are written about me so this is my chance.â
âI agree not enough is written and the idea and story are really good so it will be done. Itâs just that someoneâ she paused to glare in the direction of her husbando who was trying and failing to look contrite âkeeps distracting me. Although if I am being fair I also got distracted by my life story. But STILL.â
Cia paused and took a deep breath. âListen, I am going to get organized and disciplined here and get to work. You need to cooperate with me. Aslan, you need to stop coming up with new stories to distract me. I mean you are already getting the tent smut, the SASS shenanigans, the epic, an unexpected smutty addition to the epic, the fairy tale type one and the collaborations, itâs only fair you let others get a turn as well.â
âI could do without the SASS shenanigans you know.â Aslan shuddered at the memory of the strip experiment and the kilt calendar weekend. âChristmas is going to kill me as it is and Edward gets to be your husband in the fic Morrighan is writing. Can you blame me for coming up with ideas and wanting to spend more time with you?â Aslan turned up the charm with the puppy dog eyes and pout.
âGahhhh donât do that! Not fair!â Cia pinched the bridge of her nose and muttered. âWhy did I think this was a good idea again? Oh right, Iâm crazy, I love my boys, I get too many ideas and I like making people happy. Mostly though, itâs the crazy.â
Sighing loudly she looked at them again. âI have a plan. I am going to finish this epic and the tent smut. Then I am going to work on the projects one at a time with the exception of the collaborations and ToA. That means that you are next Soryu and you need to behave. There are women who are anxiously awaiting the last installment.â
Soryuâs face was un-moving. âI told you my terms.â
Aslan spoke up then. âIf he doesnât want to, then donât write his last part, end it at part two. I will take over what you were planning. An excuse to lick every inch of your tattoo and more? Sign me up!â
A clamor arose as some of the other harem members started volunteering to also take on that story.
Cia looked at Soryu âWell, there you go. If you donât cooperate someone else will take over. Will you stop being a recalcitrant ass or do I get someone else to do it? I tell you what, you have until the time I finish writing the epic to decide. Might even put it up to a vote on my blog.â
She surveyed the room. âI have a schedule and I am going to follow it unless my past rears itâs head and I need to write about it. This means the fics for the giveaway winners, the Dragons stories, the Pirates in Love story, the Baba story, and so on.
Please for the love of little green apples help me out here. Stop being idiots and stop being distracting. If you have ideas let me know but donât insist on invading my brain to write them. I will write down the ideas and make notes but nothing else. Donât make me have to reshuffle the harem and mete out punishments. I take great pride in the fact that you all cooperate and get along so well and are easy to manage, donât make a liar out of me please.â
Cia stepped off the stage and headed to Aslan. âOkay Mr Pouty Pants, letâs get to work. You know, even when I write about others you are still the husbando, you need to stop being silly.â She kissed him and smiled. âLetâs get some tea and get to writing.â
A lot of people asked me what happened to the cake. This is the whole fic I had originally written. I just loved feyreisa art for it so much I wanted to put the focus on the drawing but people really want to know what happened so here it is. btw, here is the link for the original so you can go gaze at the art.Â
Thank you to the lovely otomesass for allowing me to post it
Kayâs birthday
Kay had been designated the lead set designer for a series of performances celebrating the diversity of Charles culture. Because of this she had to work closely with Prince Edward and had gotten to know him and his butler, Louis, rather well.
She rather liked Louis, he was soft spoken and had a gentle demeanor and the mutual respect and regard that he and the man he served had for each other only added to the butlers appeal.
Louis, for his part, had developed quite a crush on Kay. It had started when he was looking through the resumes sent in for the job and he had seen her impressive qualifications as well as her photograph. However, on meeting her in person he had realized the photograph didnât do justice to her since it didnât completely capture her exuberant personality. Her open and friendly demeanor, the way she easily made friends, and even her blunt way of speaking had all charmed him and he found himself making more and more excuses to spend as much time as possible with her.
As the month of October drew to a close something niggled at the back of his mind and he went to look at Kayâs information again. Just as he suspected, she had a birthday coming up and he decided he wanted to do something to celebrate it.
The day of Kayâs birthday dawned and the theater where they were rehearsing was packed with people. Louis was also going to be performing so had brought his violin with him along with the small cake and present he had so carefully selected for her.
Chaos reigned most of the day and everyone was so busy trying to fix everything that went wrong that Louis barely saw Kay. Finally, near the end of the long day, he spotted her and asked her if she would come backstage with him as he had something for her. Intrigued, Kay followed him to the small area he had set aside for his things.
Louis faced her and took a deep breath. âMiss Kay, I know itâs your birthday today and you are far from home so I wanted to do something for you.â With those words he reached for the items on the small shelf to find that only his violin case rested there.
He was stunned at this turn of events and blushing, faced Kay. âI apologize, I had brought a cake and a present but they seem to be missing. I tried to make your birthday a good one but wasnât able to, please, forgive me.â Louis bowed to Kay in apology.
âThere is nothing to apologize for, I am touched you thought of me and went out of your way to do something for me, it means a lot to me.â Kay placed a gentle hand on Louis arm.
âBut I feel terrible that I cannot give you a gift.â
Kay looked thoughtful then nodded towards his violin case. âThe best gift you could give me is to play something for me. Would you do that?â
âIf it would please you, then yes.â
Louis played a beautiful piece, pouring all he felt for Kay into his performance. When he was done he looked at her and smiled.
Kay walked up to Louis, taking off her glasses as she did so to wipe away some tears that had formed at the corner of her eyes. âThank you, that was beautiful and it really touched my heart. That was the best present I could have received.â
Kay took a step backwards and smiled at Louis as she adjusted her glasses back on her face.
âIâm glad you enjoyed it Miss Kay. IâŚâ Louis was interrupted just then as one of the other performers ran up to him with a shout.
âOh Louis! There you are. I took your bag by accident when I grabbed all my things off the shelf. I apologize. Here you go.â The short man handed the bag to Louis and bowed. âI must be off, see you tomorrow.â He nodded at the pair and left quickly.
Louis was stunned at this turn of events and opened the bag to check itâs contents. He saw things were just as he had left them and smiled. âMiss Kay, I believe we can have that birthday celebration after all. If you would please hold this for me for a moment, but no peeking.â
Kay held the bag as Louis put his violin away, resisting the urge to peek while he had his head down. When he was done he took the bag back and smiling, gestured for Kay to walk ahead. âIf you would please come with me Miss Kay, there is a table at the back where we can sit.â
They settled themselves down and Louis carefully brought out the cake box and a small wrapped present and set them both in front of Kay.
Kay opened the cake box stamped with the name of one of her favorite bakeries to find a beautifully decorated cupcake that she recognized as being the specialty of the store. âThis is so pretty. Almost too pretty to eat!â she looked up at Louis smiling broadly.
âPlease, open your present as well.â
Kay happily obliged then gasped as she saw what lay nestled inside. She lifted a silver charm bracelet out of the box and looked at the single rose charm that dangled from the middle of the chain.
âIt is to commemorate your stay in Charles, that is a replica of our national rose. May I?â
Louis stood up and fastened the bracelet around Kayâs wrist when she nodded. âIt suits you as well as I thought it would.â He smiled at her as he spoke, not being able to keep the affection out of his voice.
Kay stood up as well âLouis, this was truly one of the best birthdayâs I have ever had. Thank you.â with that, she leaned closer to him and kissed his cheek.
âI don't see why we can't just order something, it would be so much easier.â The man with shaggy brown hair spoke up. âThe bakery is right there.â he pointed at that section of the grocery store.
âThis is an important birthday, our beloved Amy is turning 40 today and I feel it would be best to make something ourselves. You haven't been here that long Kyoga so please, leave most of the planning to us.â The tall, slender man adjusted his glasses on his face. âIt is my opinion we should make pudding as the main dessert, pudding is very versatile.â
âNo way Ishigami. This is a birthday and birthdays have cake. That's why they call it birthday cake. I have read a lot about birthday cakes but not about birthday pudding. Therefore, we should make a cake.â irritation laced the words of the man who was running his fingers through his violet hair.
Ishigami stopped the cart he was pushing in mid-aisle. âPrince Joshua, I have been here longer than you have and I am the husbando, while I value your opinion, the decision should be mine.â He faced the other man with determination as the prince began to argue again.
Kyoga wandered away down the aisle leaving the other two to their squabbling. He looked over the cake mixes idly as he waited for them to settle down. The writing on some of the boxes caught his eye and he grabbed one to read it more closely. Nodding in satisfaction he picked up a second box then looked at the row of frosting on the shelf above till he found the one he wanted, then gathered a few more items. Arms laden, he made his way back to the cart and dumped the things in. âGuys, I've come up with a solution.â
The other two men stopped arguing and turned to face him.
âWhat could you possibly have come up with that would help? Earlier you wanted to just buy a cake.â Prince Joshua glared at Kyoga as he said this.
âLook, this cake mix has pudding in the mix. Good compromise right? We can also bake it in this pan that has a hold in the middle and fill the hole with pudding. That way, you each get what you want and she is happy.â Kyoga smiled, pleased with himself at having found a solution.
Ishigami looked at the cake mixes and nodded. âIt's a good idea. We just need to find the correct flavor. I do not think we should mix pistachio, orange, and chocolate flavors for this cake. Marble is her favorite.â
he men finished their shopping quickly and headed back, heading straight to the kitchen. None of the other harem members who knew how to cook were around but Joshua and Hideki were confident they could do this easily with the instructions provided. Kyoga wasn't all that sure about that but he wanted to help anyway.
Several hours later the kitchen looked like a war zone, powdered cake mix everywhere, egg and oil spilling of the counters, the inside of the microwave coated in some mysterious substance.
The men had fared no better, in addition to the various smudges, cuts, and burns, each of them were liberally dotted with pudding and frosting. They stared at the cake they had made.
âIs it supposed to look like that?â Joshua asked as he continued staring. âThat does not look like any cake I have ever seen.â
Ishigami frowned âYou are correct but we did follow the instructions. I do not see why the frosting is sliding off nor why the pudding seems to be seeping out from the middle.â
âWell, it should still taste good right?â Kyoga's normally laid back expression had been replaced with one of consternation.
A commotion snapped them out of their reverie and Joshua glanced up at the clock. âWe're late, the party is about to start. Let's go.â He picked up the cake and carried it carefully out to the common room and set it down at the table just as Amy walked in.
âSurprise!â All the harem members yelled in unison happily at seeing their beloved.
Amy smiled brightly at the greeting âThank you all!â
The harem members rushed forward except for Hideki, Joshua, and Kyoga. The first two had realized they were still covered in food and didn't want to present themselves to Amy in that state and Kyoga was joining them in brotherly solidarity. As they looked around the room, they realized the other tables had a variety of food and desserts, including a magnificent many layered cake, expertly decorated with a leopard print pattern and an array of some of Amy's favorite things.
Kyoga sighed âI knew we should have just bought a cake.â
Joshua and Hideki looked embarrassed as they surveyed the cake.
âWe should take this back to the kitchen now while everyone is distracted and never speak of it again.â Hideki said.
The others agreed immediately and Joshua went to pick up the cake but froze as a voice they knew and loved floated to them.
âI was wondering where the three of you were. You didn't come to greet me when I came in.â
The three of them stood up straight and faced Amy while trying to arrange themselves in a vain attempt to hide the cake.
Amy surveyed the trio then smothered a laugh as she figured out what had happened. She pointed at the cake. âDid the three of you make that for me?â
They all nodded and Hideki spoke up. âWe did but I take full responsibility for the disaster. I am the one in charge and I should have known better. Do not blame the other two. I will take this back to the kitchen so you can celebrate. I apologize.â
Joshua and Kyoga protested at this both agreeing they were equally responsible and adding their apologies.
Amy stopped them with a smile. âThere is no need to apologize. This is really special. The fact you would make this for me even though you don't normally cook is very special. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.â
She reached Hideki and kissed him, taking a moment to savor the frosting on his lips then kissed the other two in the same manner.
âLet's eat this cake. Later on, I will help all of you get clean in the most fun way possible.â
Amy smiled broadly at the looks on their faces as she reached over, swiped some frosting, then put the finger in her mouth, sucking the sweet treat off slowly.
âThis is definitely shaping up to be my best birthday ever.â
She was all smiles as people complimented her and she posed for pictures. Looking around she took delight in a lot of the costumes people were wearing, enjoying the attention to detail and the large variety.
What she wasn't enjoying, however, was this nagging feeling that something was going to happen but she didn't know what exactly. She just knew that she felt deep down that her life was going to change but she didn't know in what way.
Aria spotted a tall man in the crowd who looked like he was possibly dressed as Prince Glen from the otome game Be My Princes. That prompted her to try to get a closer look since that particular character was her bias. If it was a Prince Glen cosplayer, she vowed to take a picture with him.
She made her way in the direction she had seen him, and kept getting glimpses of him as she headed towards him. The crowd cleared enough that she could see that she had been right, the costume was a perfect match and the man looked just as she imagined Prince Glen would look were he to come to life.
The crowd surged forward again and she lost sight of him. She searched in vain for over an hour and had decided to take a break and regroup, slumping by a wall a little ways away from the crowd as she tried to think of her next step.
A sunflower filled her field of vision suddenly and she turned her head to see the man she had been searching for smiling softly at her. âI finally found you my loveâ
Aria blushed, he really did remind her of Prince Glen, even sounded as she had always imagined but the words that had come out of his mouth seemed odd considering they had just met. Still, something told her to talk to him rather than run away.
âHello. That is an amazing Prince Glen costume. How did you know I am into him by the way? Did a friend tell you to find me?â Aria asked in a rush trying to control the butterflies that were currently tap dancing in her stomach.
âThis is no costume, Aria, and no, your friends didn't tell me anything. I came straight from my home here hoping to find you. And to answer your other question, I know you are into me because you play my route, you write about me and you dream about me. Where I come from, you are the one whose route I play. Somehow, I was able to find a way to this world, but only for today. The magic seems to happen only on your birthday.â He stopped speaking and looked at her a blush spreading across his face as he realized what he had just admitted.
The butterflies in Aria's stomach had now launched a full scale Broadway style musical number complete with sparklers and fireworks. Part of her was thinking she really needed to get away from this weirdo but most of her felt that somehow, this was real. She realized he was watching her and tried to smile. âThat's a pretty good story, I'm impressed. Do you want to take a picture together?â
âI do, eventually, but right now, what I want is for you to come back to my world with me and by my princess. Please, what can I do to make you believe me? I don't have much time leftâ
Aria shook her head. She wanted to believe but this was not something that happened, and if it did happen, it didn't happen to people like her.
There was a sudden flash of light behind the man and a hole seemed to appear from out of nowhere, expanding quickly. Aria stared at it since she could see Oriens castle in it. Suddenly, a voice piped up and a little boy appeared.
âCome on princess, we are waiting for youâ Aria recognized him as Alan, Prince Glen's younger brother.
âDo you believe me now?â Prince Glen asked Aria softly.
Aria nodded âHow could I not at this pointâ
The prince smiled âThen come with meâ he held his hand out to her as he said those words.
Aria hesitated a moment âBut will I ever be able to come back?â
âOnce a year on your birthday the portal will open and you can travel between worlds thenâ
Aria smiled and took Prince Glen's hand. âLet's go thenâ
They stepped together through the portal towards their happily ever after.
a/n This idea grew from an ask feyreisa sent in one time as my child. We liked it so much we are running with it and will co write a series about my child with Aslan (Seira) marrying Ivanâs child (Alexei) and will be written as they grow up from both parent and child povâs
I got inspired and wrote this prequel. Thank you otakupotato for letting me use her as Ivanâs wifey for this series. There will be another a/n at the end for translations.
The Games People Play
All the princes were gathered at Nobel Michel for a conference to further relations between the kingdoms and to come up with solutions for problems on a global scale, anything and everything from the environment to helping the economy and all else in between. It was an ambitious project, to be sure, and they would be spending months there with the occasional travel back home but they also had things to celebrate.
Prince Aslan had married the now Princess Alicia 4 months prior after a whirlwind courtship and less than two months after that wedding Prince Ivan had married one of Aliciaâs best friends, Mandy. Both courtships had amused the other princes to no end and they were all looking forward to teasing the newlyweds.
Two weeks after the conference started all the princes had noticed that Prince Ivan and Princess Alicia started talking to each other more and more when they were all gathered together.
It drew their curiosity since Ivan and Alicia were both newlyweds and still seemingly very much in love with their spouses. However, it couldnât be denied that they were frequently spotted together, heads close to each other as they talked. Alicia was prone to talking with her hands and she would gesture wildly and even Ivan would get animated during those conversations. At one point, eyebrows were raised when Ivan grabbed one of Aliciaâs hands and seemed to write on it with Alicia smiling and nodding.
The princes would look towards Aslan or Mandy whenever they saw these things but it seemed they were both oblivious to what was going on.
Oliverâs curiosity finally got the better of him and he approached Sieg, Kuon, and Hayden at breakfast one morning. âI think you have all noticed that something strange is going on with Ivan and Alicia. I thought about talking to Aslan but he seems so oblivious to the whole thing, I donât want to say anything without concrete proof. After all, there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation even if it doesnât seem that way, what do you think?â
Hayden spoke up. âWhile I admit it does seem strange I donât really think either is the type to have an affair if thatâs what you are thinking. Although maybe you want there to be problems since you still have a crush on Alicia?â
Sieg smirked at those words âYou donât know when to give up Oliver.â
âYouâre no better with your crush on Mandy.â Kuon spoke up quietly.
Oliver and Sieg both blushed at these words then Sieg spoke up angrily. âI donât have a crush. I am just concerned for Mandyâs sake.â
Hayden shrugged. âWeâll all keep an eye on the situation but I think you two are blowing it out of proportion. Kuon I wanted to discuss a point in the environmental report that just came in. Shall we go to my office?â
Oliver and Sieg finished their breakfast in silence after the other two had left then decided to go join them. As they passed Ivanâs office they heard Aliciaâs laugh through the slightly open door and stopped to listen.
âTonight Iâm going to beat your ass so soundly you wonât be able to sit for a week. Just wait.â Aliciaâs voice reached the two princes who had gotten as close as possible to the door to listen.
âNo way princess, I always come out on top.â
âI donât know about that, itâs high time someone put you in your place and I am just the woman to do it. I have to be going, my appointment starts in ten minutes, same time tonight right?â
âYes, looking forward to it.â
Oliver and Sieg exchanged startled glances then scurried down the hall so they wouldnât be caught right outside the door.
Alicia passed by and waved cheerfully at them as she went towards the Shaharazal offices.
âI donât even know what to think of what we just heard.â Oliver said slightly stunned.
âNeither do I. I think we need to investigate further. Think we should let the other two know?â
âNot yet, Hayden and Kuon didnât seem to take it all that seriously and theyâd probably just accuse us of stirring trouble without more evidence.â
The two of them tried to get close whenever Ivan and Alicia were together but found it difficult to do so without being obvious.
At one reception Oliver decided to try broaching the subject with Aslan.
âSo, Aslan, what is the deal with Ivan and your wife?â Oliver realized after he said it that he may have been a bit too blunt but it was too late.
âI have no idea what you are talking about, care to elaborate?â Aslan looked at Oliver over the rim of his wineglass as he took a drink.
âWell, they just seem to spend a lot of time together.â Oliver grew uncomfortable under Aslanâs steady gaze and didnât notice the glimmer of amusement crossing the other manâs face.
âReally? I hadnât noticed anything unusual. Alicia represents Shaharazal just as much as I do and we are all here to strengthen the bonds between nations.â
Oliver decided to back off at that moment since he was unsure what to say to that and he really didnât want to cause trouble if there was nothing going on.
He informed Sieg of what had happened and they were talking things over when they spotted Alicia making her way towards Ivan. They decided to try and hear their conversation so they headed towards Ivan as well. Oliver and Sieg managed to get there slightly before she did and hid themselves behind a pillar to listen.
âHey wonderboy! Next time watch what you are doing. I just found out your carelessness last night is going to cost me a ton in repairs to my robes.â Alicia said as she reached Ivan.
Ivan grinned in response. âWell princess if you were stealthier and your coordination was better we wouldnât have been in such a tight position now would we? You really need to learn better tactics so we can get by unseen.â
âHey, you were the one who dragged us to that room. We could have been done so much earlier if you hadnât decided you just had to have some fun there first.â
âComplain all you want, we both know you like it when we play well into the night, itâs too much fun to just go at it for a short time, especially since we mesh so well.â
âFair point but we might want to tone it down a bit, I feel like Iâve been neglecting Aslan too much and I donât want him to get upset with me.â
âWe can always work out a schedule so everyone is satisfied. The music is about to start so I will go dance with Mandy but reserve a dance for me so we can talk.â
Ivan and Alicia left to find their respective spouses leaving behind two very shocked princes.
âDid we just hear what I think we heard?â Oliver asked Sieg slowly.
âIf you think we heard that they seemed to be talking about sneaking around the castle, clothes being damaged, and having fun into the night, then yes.â Sieg replied.
âI think we need a little more evidence but I am definitely concerned at this point.â
âSame here.â
They went off to find Hayden and Kuon and explained what they had been up to that evening.
âI know for a fact you two are making a big deal out of nothing and you should just talk to them directly. If you will excuse me.â Kuon walked away from them to find a drink.
Hayden looked at them thoughtfully. âI agree with Kuon but I will talk to Ivan tomorrow if it will set your minds at ease.â
Oliver and Sieg could only nod at those words and hope for the best.
The next day Hayden stopped to talk to them âI had a talk with Ivan and everything is fine. Stop worrying about it and find something else to entertain you.â
The two princes had been relieved to hear this but that relief was cut short when they were in the garden a few days later and overheard Ivan and Alicia talking behind a hedge. They got as close as possible and peeked between the bushes at them.
âYou are being too stubborn about this name business. The one I picked out is perfectly fine.â Ivan sounded irritated as he looked at the tablet in front of them.
âEither we compromise on a name that incorporates both our countries or we pick one in a different language. This is our baby so this is not just about you and what you want. Besides, we both know that you are going to make me responsible for most of this.â
Ivan and Alicia walked out of earshot then and Sieg and Oliver sat down heavily on the bench.
âI think we canât deny it now. We have to find a way to keep this from becoming an international incident. I canât believe it. I would maybe expect this from you Oliver but not someone like Ivan.â Sieg said with a sigh.
âWhat is that supposed to mean? Iâm not that bad! If I were I would have gone for Alicia long before this. I respect my friends marriages. Still, this is hard to believe. Alicia does not strike me as the type to cheat, especially not with her friends husband.â Oliver replied
âI think you have rose colored glasses on as far as she is concerned. I am going to go find Mandy and see how she is. Sheâs bound to have noticed something at this point and probably doesnât know what to do.â
âAnd you think Iâm bad, there you are swooping in on your crush at her moment of need.â Oliver smirked at Sieg with those words.
Sieg flushed angrily. âThat is not what this is about. Sheâs a friend who is in need. That is all.â He turned and stalked out of the garden leaving Oliver alone to think.
Oliver really didnât want to think badly of Alicia, that was true. The whole thing just didnât make sense to him, Alicia was too kind, open, and honest to do this kind of thing. It was possible Ivan had some kind of hold over her and was forcing her into this, after all, that man could be very scary. Oliver had convinced himself this was the case and he resolved to go talk to her after dinner since he knew Aslan was going to be at a business meeting.
As he was about to tap on her door he heard Alicia yelling from inside âGoddamit wonderboy, what the hell do you think you are doing? Stop that this instant!â
Oliver rushed in without a second thought eyes widening as he surveyed the scene before him.
The next day Sieg walked into the dining hall to see Alicia settling herself down next to Oliver. He got close enough to overhear anything if they talked but made sure to hide himself so they wouldnât notice.
Alicia spoke first âDid you enjoy yourself last night Oliver?â
âIâm not sure. I had no idea you became such a different person at night. Who knew under that sweet exterior lay such a bossy sadist. Iâm still smarting over the punishing pace you set last night.â Oliver complained to Alicia even as he smiled.
Alicia patted Oliverâs shoulder. âYou will learn how to do it properly eventually and youâll end up loving it, youâll see.â
âI donât know about that. I performed that natureâs kiss move over and over again and ended up using all my stamina and exhausted myself too early.â
âThat was your problem. You have to learn other moves and pace yourself a bit, find the right combination for maximum effectiveness. Once you do, it will be easy and you will find you can go much longer. The rewards are worth it.â
Oliver nodded. âYouâre right. Watching you and Ivan go at it was certainly stimulating.â
Alicia smiled again. âWell, we will teach you the ropes. I have to get going, try to rest ok? You will be stiff for a few days till you get used to the whole thing.
Alicia left the dining hall and Sieg came out of hiding and dropped himself in the chair next to Oliver.
âWhat the hell are you doing with Alicia? I thought you were going to resolve the issue and instead I find you two getting all chummy.â
Oliver looked at Sieg with red-rimmed sleepless eyes. âOh there you are, did you talk to Mandy last night?â
âI tried to but I didnât know what to say and she seemed to be amused by something so I let it be. Thatâs beside the point though. What happened last night?â
âWell I found out that Ivan and Alicia are into some interesting games and they invited me to join them. The moves take some getting used to and the outfits are definitely interesting. Alicia was in this tight fitting short thing that left little to the imagination. My eyes almost bugged out when I saw it. The bad part is that Iâm in a bit of pain today. There was a lot of stuff Iâm not used to and on top of that holding one position for so long killed my upper body. All in all though, it was a lot of fun.â Oliver grinned at Sieg who had been turning different shades of red as he listened.
Sieg spluttered for a bit âWhat the hell? I donât get it? How can you be so calm about this, thisâŚâ he stopped at a loss for words.
âRelax, Hayden and Kuon know too and they are ok with it even if they arenât into it. Itâs no big deal.â
âIt is a big deal! Aslan and Mandy should know about this!â
âOh they know as well. They sometimes take part but most of the time Ivan and Alicia are just a little too intense for them. Hey, pass me those eggs will you? Iâm starving.â
Sieg handed Oliver the eggs wordlessly brain still trying to process what he had just heard. Who the hell was this woman Aslan had married and how had she managed to convince all the princes to join in her perverted games? He could see Ivan being into them, him being such a hard ass, but Alicia had seemed so sweet. Mandyâs face floated before him and he shuddered to think that such an innocent girl had been exposed to such things. He quietly ate his breakfast as he continued thinking, not noticing the little amused glances Oliver kept throwing his way.
As the day turned to evening Sieg was coming out of the library when he bumped into Alicia.
âSieg! I was just looking for you! I want to talk to you about something. Do you have a minute?â Alicia didnât wait for Sieg to answer as she propelled him back into the library.
âAnyway, Sieg, I know from things people have said and the way you cook that you are really good with your hands and are a good multi-tasker so I was wondering if youâd like to join our little group. Itâs a lot of fun and we meet twice a week. One night is for more casual fun and another is for the hardcore ones. Tonight itâs a small informal group so it would be an excellent way to introduce you to the whole thing and let you decide if you like it. Here. I brought something that should explain things better and help you prepare. Oh, you donât have to bring anything, we have extra equipment. We start in two hours in Ivanâs living room so hopefully weâll see you then!â Alicia left before Sieg could get a word in edgewise.
He sat down heavily on one of the chairs, stunned at this sudden turn of events. Part of him was intrigued even as he was repulsed. Sieg kept drawing the bag towards himself then pushing it away as he thought things over. Finally, close to the time Alicia had told him to meet, he opened the bag and withdrew what was inside.
The whole group was gathered and setting things up when the door burst open as Sieg flew in waving a book in his hand.
âA video game??? All this secrecy, the weird behavior, everything⌠it was all about a video game?â
He looked around the room and met Alicia and Ivanâs shocked faces then noticed Aslan, Mandy, and Oliver laughing themselves silly.
âYes? Well more than one video game actually. What did you think it was about?â Alicia asked puzzled.
âWhat are you talking about Sieg? What do you mean by secrecy and everything?â Ivan asked with a frown.
âYou and Alicia were always talking by yourselves and looking suspicious, you two had a conversation about some damaged clothes and the need for secrecy, you even talked about baby names! What was I supposed to think?â
Ivanâs frown grew deeper. âWell at first I didnât want anyone to know I was playing video games but I didnât go out of my way to hide it. I donât recall you being near us for any of those conversations though. Were you spying on us Sieg?â
âHe was too! He thought same thing as I did, that you and Alicia were having an affair.â Sieg pointed at Oliver and Oliver stopped laughing.
Alicia turned to Oliver âIs this true? You thought I was cheating on Aslan with Ivan?â
âYes, we both did, itâs why I came to your room last night after we heard you discussing baby names.â
Ivan and Alicia looked at each other, disgust etched on their faces.
âEwwwwwwww!â they both said in unison.
âHeâs like a brother to me, as if!!!â
âWhat, me have an affair with this brat? Especially when I have an exquisite woman like Mandy? Ludicrous! Aliciaâs like my baby sister, disgusting.â
âIck ick ick, Oh lord I think Iâm going to be sick, yuck!!! Just the thought of it!â Alicia started making exaggerated gagging motions and flailing. âThis is both the most disgusting and funniest thing I have heard ALL month. Oh my God.â she was laughing so hard she ended up sitting on the floor, tears streaming down her face.
Ivan was laughing as well but then turned to Oliver. âOliver, you knew what was going on last night, why didnât you tell him the truth?â
Oliver shrugged. âI did, I told him you two were into interesting games. Not my fault he misinterpreted it. I even told him everyone else knew and were ok with it.â
âYou know you made it sound dirty! Especially after everything else we heard. You are not innocent in this.â
He pointed a finger at Mandy and Aslan âAnd you two! You knew we all suspected something, we even tried saying something to you both and you all acted so innocent.â
Alicia looked at her husband from where she was still sitting on the floor. âIs that true? You knew everyone was suspicious and didnât bother correcting them? â
Aslan went over to his wife and sat beside her and hugged her âIâm sorry hansar-am, Mandy and I were having a bit of fun with them. We knew the truth so we didnât worry.â
They all talked into the night and it was explained to Sieg that Alicia had introduced Ivan to video games when he was trying to court Mandy and they had both become fierce competitors and teammates. While their spouses played with them, they didnât have the same level of enthusiasm and intensity that Ivan and Alicia did for the game they liked best.
Aslan and Mandy had discovered that the other two would get competitive and start trash talking when they played against each other so would make bets on who would score more points, who would insult the other the best, etc. The bets would range from having to do menial chores, to making the other pull a prank, and future babysitting services when children came along.
For some odd reason, Ivan and Alicia also worked very well together, usually placing at the very top of the leader boards in PvP games as a duo. They had decided to form their own guild in the MMO they played so they could have a way to play with their spouses that wouldnât be so intense. That game and guild was what they had invited the princes to play since they figured it might be a good way to relieve stress, bond, and learn better ways of communicating and cooperating.
They showed Sieg the game and he had to admit it was a lot of fun even if he was still angry at Oliver for deceiving him and a bit at Hayden and Kuon for not just telling them the truth. He vowed he would practice and play on his own as well cause there was no way he was going to let Prince Pompous and Princess Giggles be better at something than he was.
After everyone had left Ivan gathered Mandy up in his arms and took her to their bed where he settled down with her. âDid they really think I would cheat on you?â
âApparently so. Theyâre stupid though.â
âYou donât think I would though, do you lyubov moya?â
âOf course not, why would I?â
âIf you want me to spend less time playing and more time with you I will, you know that right?â
âI know that my dear husband but really, itâs fine. You spend more than enough time with me and I think itâs hilarious when you and Alicia fight.â
âHave you really been placing bets on me?â
Mandy nodded âOf course. You are my husband, I have to cheer you on and I believe in you.â
âWell, it is a sure bet on your part.â
âNo comment on that one dear.â
Ivan looked at Mandy âOh? Are you saying I lose a lot?â
âLetâs just say that Cia is way more creative with her insults than you are and as far as points, well it depends on the game youâre playing. Letâs just leave it at that ok?â
âEnough talk.â Ivan kissed Mandy deeply.
Meanwhile, Aslan and Alicia were also talking while snuggled down in their own bed.
âYou know, I understand that you were having fun but Iâm kind of hurt you would let the others think Iâm the kind of woman who would cheat on you. Especially since Sieg apparently thought I was into some really kinky group things and seducing all the men in the castle!â
âI am really sorry. I should have thought about how it would make you feel. We didnât think they would actually think either of you would cheat. If they hadnât been spying they wouldnât have gotten as suspicious as they did. They could have also just asked us directly like Hayden and Kuon did. Still, I should have known better. Can you forgive me?â
âMaybe, but I should make you come to the dragon caverns and grind for a bit tomorrow, I hate it but gotta be done, youâll need to break out your healer corazon.â
Aslan groaned âGrinding is boring. Isnât that why you play with Ivan?â
âYou donât get jealous anymore then?â
âWho said I was ever jealous?â
Alicia gave him a steady look saying nothing.
âAlright, I admit, I did get jealous at first but I know now that itâs just an outlet for you and that I am first in your heart. Plus, I like watching you take Mr Arrogant down a peg or two. Now, about my making things up to you.â Aslan moved so he was on top of Alicia and started kissing her neck.
a/n part two
OK so I figure Shaharazalâs closest equivalent is Persia (I RESEARCHED AND WILL GLADLY MAKE A POST ABOUT MY REASONS IF ASKED) so he speaks Farsi.
When he calls Alicia Hansar-am he is literally calling her âmy other headâ which means equal partner/better half according to this link
When Ivan calls Mandy lyubov moya it means my love in Russian according to this link
Alicia calls Aslan corazon which is Spanish for heart and I donât need to link you because I speak Spanish.
Many people are wondering where the turtle came from. The answer to this is simple, Cia rolled over in bed, fell out of it and landed in the new world. Mandy, same thing. Now, turtles donât exactly roll over in their sleep (I checked) so we can just assume that whatever force pulled Cia and Mandy in while they slept is the same force that pulled in Mr Snuggles.
That is all the information I can share with you at the moment, otherwise there would be spoilers and a lot of you donât like that.
Any questions you can always ask me therandomgoddess.Hiro and Mandy do have knowledge and control over the plot but at the end of the day Iâm the one writing it and directing the story, doing the world building, etc so if thereâs a plot point you donât understand, I am the one to ask. Above all, remember, this is pure fantasy crack. Some things wonât make sense and that is ok.
Chapter 2
 Hiro is itching
Mandy and Cia stared at the tall man who had just stepped out of a black SUV, a variety of expressions flitting across their faces. They looked at each other then back at the man who was coming towards them with a big grin on his face.
âDammit Hiro! You did this didnât you?â Mandy started yelling with Cia echoing her words.
Hiro reached Mandy and picked her up in a bear hug, swinging her around. âKitten! Iâm glad I found you!â
Mandy pounded on his head and chest as she yelled âI am not a kitten and put me down, have you lost your damn mind? Just no, stop!!â
Hiro put her down and ruffled her hair grinning widely âYou need to learn to accept what I give you and nope, havenât lost me mind, just glad youâre safeâ
Cia was watching with a combination of amusement and irritation and when she saw Hiro turn towards her she stuck out a hand to greet him. âNice to meet you in personâ
Hiro ignored her hand and picked her up the same way he had Mandy, twirling her around as well âGoddess! Youâre here too! No hand shaking, you get hugs from me, accept me love woman! You always have before!â
Cia couldnât help laughing at this âYouâre right, I always haveâ she kissed his cheek as he put her down. âThere, now you can accept mine tooâ she grinned at the look on his face since it always amused her to turn the tables on him.
âWell, now that we are together, explain all of thisâ Mandy pointed at Hiro.
âItâs too dangerous to stand around and talk, I will explain while we ride.â Hiro opened the back door and gestured for them to get in âAlright waifus one and two, hop in and make it quick.â
Mandy glared at him âI am NOT your waifu, I never agreed to that one.â she threw a light punch at his arm as she slid in.
âDonât be like that kitten, you know I only say it out of affection. Oy female, your turnâ
Cia was walking around to the other side âNo way, I donât ride in the backseat, I am riding shotgun.. She opened the door only to see it crammed full of gear. âAlright, well, this has to goâ Cia started gathering the items as Hiro came rushing to her.
Hiro tried taking the things back âNo, I need this here so I can reach it easily, you can be safe and comfortable in the back, I will protect you, no worriesâ
âI know you can protect me but thatâs not the point. Listen, just pick a few essentials you need and Iâll put them on the floor board or on my lap and hand them to you as needed. Trust me, I NEED to ride in the front seat.â Cia started trying to sort the items.
âStop being so bloody stubborn and get in the back seat, I got a handle on thisâ
Cia stood up perfectly straight at those words and poked Hiro in the chest. âI am telling you that you need to let me ride in the front seat for a reason. You are the one being stubborn here. For one, you donât NEED all of this up front with you, I sincerely doubt you can eat more than 5 pounds of jerky before the next stop and second, I get car sick in the back and I will make sure that somehow, even from the back, I will puke all over you when it happens. And I WONâT clean it upâ
Hiro turned around and started pulling things from the front seat. âRight, so letâs get this sorted then, ok hold this and this.. .hmm ok might need this. Alright, get in while I put this in the back seat and trunk.â
Cia smirked at Hiroâs back then got in, rearranging things to be more comfortable. She then turned to Mandy âYou alright back there? Mr Snuggles not giving you any problems?â
âYeah Iâm good, just canât believe our lives are in his hands, weâre going to die, whatever is going on, we are not in good shape.â Mandy slumped in her seat.
âHah, well, we can always use him as a shield, although you should have more faith in his skills. Besides, for all we know, weâre not actually in danger and itâs just him being silly.â
âCia, I know you believe in positive thinking but Iâm pretty sure there is some kind of problem, after all, you and I both know this is like his zombie apocalypse post.â
âYouâre right. I was just hoping. I canât run well though, I am pretty sure thatâs a problemâ
Hiro got in the car and buckled his seat belt âYou lot ready?â He started the engine and drove off when they were all ready.
Mandy reached over and flicked Hiroâs head âTalkâ
âWhy are you so violent poppet? You know you love meâ
Mandy sighed loudly and rolled her eyes.
âOkay, fine. Iâll tell you what I know but it isnât much. I woke up yesterday morning dressed like Carlos, by the way Cia, nice lookâ Hiro glanced over at Cia and smiled.
Cia rolled her eyes âYeah yeah watch the road and keep talking.â
Hiro continued âSo I was dressed like this and found meself in a strange place, only a shed in the middle of nowhere with this vehicle in front of me and a map leading to where I found you two. As I was driving I saw a town filled with zombies. Once I saw the two of you it made sense. This is like that post I made. As to why, well youâre the expert on creepy things. Ciaâ
âDo you have anything to add that you havenât already told me Mandy?â Cia turned to ask.
âNo, just want to know WHY. I know this has to be his fault somehowâ
Cia reached over and pinched Hiro
âWhat the bloody hell was that for?â
âI just wanted to see what would happen if I caused you painâ
âBut kitten back there already flicked me, not to mention the hittingâ
âBe that as it may, I hadnât gotten a chance to. It was strictly for scientific purposes, I assure youâ Cia smiled lightly as Mandy high fived her.
âYou two tried to wake yourselves up right?â Cia asked
They both nodded in response.
âWell then, itâs not a dream. I suspected as much since I can control dreams and I havenât been able to control this one so far. However, this being a lot like this post means that we are definitely not in our version of reality. Now, I know all of us in the vehicle have a variety of gifts although Iâm the only one that knows mine and how to use them. The point though, is that one of Hiroâs gifts is to shape reality. Apparently, he shaped reality to the point where he made this whole alternate world, yanked us out of ours and plopped us into this one. So, we need to explore this concept and just what we can and canât do. In theory, now that he knows this he can get us out. In practice, I doubt it will be that easy.â Cia glanced at Hiro and Mandy to see how they were taking this bit of news.
Mandy exploded âI KNEW it was his fault! If I die here will I die everywhere or do I go back? What else can we do? What are my gifts?â
âI would keep you both safe, you know that.â Hiro replied cutting off Mandy
âChildren, settle. Arguing at this point wonât help. Although Mandy, I am pretty sure he would give his life to keep us safe and Hiro, Mandy has a reason to be frustrated. I am going to explain your gifts to you but please, find a place where we can stop and find out what we can and canât do. I donât know the rules of this universe, I donât know if my gifts will work properly or how. For all I know, I can now set fire to things for realâ Cia stared at her hands a moment to see if that was happening. âWell, I guess it was too much to hope for.â
âDid you even try? And why would you do that? Jesus H Christ woman, weâre in a vehicleâ Hiro threw Cia an irritated glance.
âI didnât actually try, geez even Iâm not that impulsive. Itâs just in fiction whenever someone says something like that whoosh it just happens so I checked. Although we can check to see if one of Mandyâs worksâ Cia looked at Mandy.
âMandy, try to make a weapon appear in your hand. Youâve seen it once. Itâs a single headed ax with a light wood handle. Has spells on it for protection and things like thatâ
âHow do I do that? Just concentrate on my hands?â Mandy looked down and realized she was still holding Mr Snuggles. âLet me put him down somewhereâ She quickly made a comfy nest for him then looked up âOkay tell meâ
Cia explained to Mandy how to ground, center and shield and how to channel energy as quickly as she could âOkay, now that you have that down hold your hands out like thisâ Cia demonstrated how to place her hands âAnd visualize what you want, get that image in your mind and feel the weight of itâ
Mandy did as she was told and slowly the ax came into view. She let out a startled gasp and almost dropped it.
âConcentrate or it will go away!â Cia said urgently.
Mandy bit her lip and nodded then concentrated again. After a few minutes she had a real, solid ax in her hands. She looked up, eyes shining âI did it! I really did it, this is amazing! What else can I do?â
Hiro looked at Mandy in the rear view mirror, eyes wide. "She really did it. Can I do that too?â
âMandy is the one to go to for weapons. She will pull ours out as well. You have other things you can do. Have you found us a place to stop?â
Hiro frowned then nodded. âYeah, I think thatâs a safe place up ahead, hang onâ
After the car was parked and they had stretched their legs they walked a bit into the clearing they had found.
Cia turned to face Mandy âOkay first, letâs get Hiroâs sword. He can use that big one I haveâ
Mandy nodded and in short order had produced the sword.
Hiro took it from her and swung it a bit âThis is alright, I like itâ A noise from the woods got his attention âGet behind meâ He barked his orders at them and face the noise. When a zombie came out of the woods he yelled over his shoulder âRun, now, back to the carâ
Mandy and Cia turned in the direction of the car and took off.
âFuck my life, I canât run well in the best of times and now I am trying to run in this dress and boots, awesomeâ Cia yelled.
âDo your best, Iâm right behind youâ Hiro shouted at them.
Suddenly, a light flashed where the two girls were and they disappeared.
âWhat the bloody hell just happened?â Hiro ran to the last place he had seen them and there he found a kitten and a plush watermelon with a happy face. âWhat the fuck?â
The kitten latched itself on his leg and spoke âItâs us, I donât know what happened, pick up Cia and letâs goâ
âMandy? You are a real kitten?â
âDuh, now are you taking us to the car or what? Letâs go alreadyâ Mandy kitten kept climbing as she spoke.
âI would also appreciate being picked up though I have no idea what is going onâ Ciaâs voice came from the toy on the ground.
Hiro scooped up both kitten and watermelon and took off, getting everyone safely back and locking the doors.
âNow what?â Hiro banged his head against the steering wheel as he tried to figure this out.
Based on this imagine:Â Imagine Kili trying to teach you Dwarvish, and the look on his face when you one day answer him back in perfect Khazdul when he says âI love you.â
When you had first set out on the quest you had never imagined that you would find love, much less with a dwarf. You knew it was one-sided and he would never consider you in such a way since you were not a dwarf so you kept your feelings to yourself and carried on as normal.
After the quest ended and you were making preparations to go back home, you had been shocked when Kili came to you and told you he loved you, had for a very long time, and only wanted to be with you. You had argued with him, of course you had, you were too different, he would be unhappy being away from all he knew.
For every argument you made, he had a counter. He persisted in courting you, and showing you that love was, indeed possible. until he finally broke through the barriers you had built around your heart when you had tried to protect yourself from what you had thought was the inevitable heartbreak that loving him would bring.
He had insisted on going with you to meet your parents, to see where you came from, to know the places that were important to you, so you had set off on the journey, your hearts light and your steps quick as you talked, laughed, and enjoyed each otherâs company. The second night you had a sudden idea âKili, would you teach me your language?â
Kiliâs face broke into a grin âYou want to learn Khazdul? Why?â
âFor the same reason you and I are making this journey to my home town. You want to learn about me and what shaped me and I want to learn about youâ
âAlright, but itâs not an easy language to learnâ
âI will do my bestâ You vowed, your earnestness earning a chuckle from your lover.
That night the lessons had begun and it was indeed as difficult as Kili had said but you wouldnât give up, this was important to you. He would laugh and joke with you every time you mangled a word but he was a kind and patient teacher.
There was one phrase, however, that he had not taught you yet because he had been teaching you the very basics first. It was a phrase that he said every night as you drifted off to sleep in his arms and every morning when he kissed you to greet the day.
You knew he was saying âI love youâ because you had asked him what it meant and since it had burned itself in your heart you were able to practice it in secret, using the pronunciation you had learned to help you perfect it.
Finally the day had come when Kili had said you had a good grasp on the basics and praised you for how well you had done. You blushed then said âOhr duzkak leibâ
The look on his face when he heard that phrase coming from your lips made your heart sing and you smiled as he reached out to embrace you.
Based on this imagine: Falling asleep on Legolasâ arms after the battle on Helms Deep
You were slumped near the wall, exhausted. It was your first battle and had been nothing like you had imagined. You had done your duty well but it was nothing compared to him. More than once your eyes had strayed to Legolas as he fought, his skill and grace on the battlefield making it seem so effortless.
âWonât you eat something?â You looked up to the voice that had addressed you. It was him, the man you had just been thinking of. He sat beside you offering you a plate loaded with a variety of food. âHere, you need to eat. â
Grateful. you took the plate and dug in, only just now realizing how hungry you had been.
âYou did well todayâ
You stopped chewing at those words from him and looked at him with disbelief. Swallowing quickly you replied âI did what anyone else would doâ
Legolasâ face as he looked at you was serious âI would not say it if it were not true. I watched you, you have exceptional skillâ
âYou watched me?â Those words were hard to comprehend. âWhy?â
âI watch you because I love you. It took todayâs battle to realize I should say something.â
You put the plate down as those shocking words filtered in your brain.
âI must be more exhausted than I thought, forgive me, I thought I heardâ
He interrupted you âYou heard correctly. I do love you and I wish to be with youâ
He reached out and pulled you into his lap, arranging you so that your head was tucked under his chin and you were resting comfortably.
âThere will be time enough for talk tomorrow. This was your first battle and I know you are more tired than you are letting on. For now, allow me to hold you while we restâ
The warmth emanating from him and the feeling of his arms around you was comforting and his words filled you with a happiness that made all the cares of the day melt away. You wanted to say something but all the energy had left you and all you could do was let yourself sink into blessed sleep. As you drifted off you smiled and hoped that when morning came, it would still be real and not a dream.
No smut here. Not funny. I am not sure how to categorize this. Hurt/comfort I guess? Shouldnât be any triggers here.
It had originally started out as a what if the harem tried to make me feel better comedy scenario and this came out and it made me cry.
Itâs all from Aslanâs pov but this is what itâs really like for me when I get a headache. Lots of Aslan sweetness though! Note: mami and papi mean mommy and daddy in Spanish, the language of my childhood.
Anyway..enjoy my pain?Â
Hurt
Aslan was slumped against the wall right outside the bedroom he shared with Cia, knees drawn up  arms resting on them, head hanging as he tried to figure out what was going on and how to help his wife as he went over the events of a few minutes ago.
******
Cia had complained that she had a bad headache, one that left her nearly immobile, so he had hit upon the idea of bringing her some lavender essential oil since he knew it was a good remedy for headaches and she normally enjoyed the faint scent of lavender he wore.
When he had come in and presented the bottle to her she had looked at it with a strained smile and tried to talk but the effort had caused her to wince in pain so she had shut her mouth and resumed staring listlessly up at the canopy that hung over their bed, her usually bright golden eyes now a dull amber hue.
Climbing onto the bed, Aslan scooted close to Cia. He opened the bottle thinking he would massage some oil on her wrists and temples, but the moment he did so, she turned to him and sniffed the air around her, eyes wide. To his shock, she dove swiftly under the covers, wrapping herself up in them completely, to the point of covering her face which was highly unusual for her as she couldnât stand that even at the best of times.
Aslan was alarmed and set the bottle down on the night stand then lifted the covers and slipped in beside her. âWhatâs wrong?â he gently turned her to face him and he could see her eyes brimming with unshed tears. The sight of those tears brought a dull ache to his heart and he tenderly reached out to caress his belovedâs face, hoping to ease her pain. At this action, the dam she had tried to build broke and the tears she had been holding back burst free, causing the dull ache to become a roar. He immediately moved to take her in his arms but she pushed him away, her words unintelligible as her small frame became wracked with heart rending sobs. Hurt and confused he had left the bedroom and propped himself against the wall to think.
*************
After realizing he had been there for the better part of an hour, he decided to get up and make her some of her favorite black tea and hoped that between that and himself she would feel comforted and open up to him. He still didnât know as much about her as he wanted to since he had only come into her life very recently and while she was quick to share happy things, she didnât really share the things that caused the shadows he sometimes saw lurking behind her smiles. Aslan knew it was because she didnât want to burden him or make him sad, and he suspected that she thought he would judge her or not care but she was mistaken. He wanted to know all of her, the good and the bad. He hoped to be able to discover her pain, her sorrow, her burdens, and her fears so he could take them away and ensure her smile would never be tinged with sadness again.
Aslan opened the bedroom door to find it even darker than when he had left and he took a moment to allow his eyesight to adjust. When he saw there was no movement, he padded softly towards the bed, his blue-grey eyes seeking out his cherished wife. Â She was asleep, her long eyelashes resting on her high cheekbones, brows furrowed, her face retaining traces of pain. He frowned, wondering what he could do to help her when he caught the faint scent of lemon lingering in the air. It was then that he realized that her hair was damp and the sheets had been changed. He set the tea down on the nightstand only to find the lavender bottle was gone. Glancing at Cia again, he noticed the tear tracks marring her cheeks so headed towards the bathroom to find a washcloth to wipe her face.
Upon arriving there, he noticed an almost overpowering scent of lemon and the steam that still lingered from the shower she had taken.  He surveyed the mess she had left, taking in the fact that the sheets that had been on the bed were stuffed in various plastic bags and that the bottle of oil was also wrapped in a bag stuck at the back of a shelf. A bottle of Tylenol pm had been left open though he was relieved to see that it was mostly full, indicating she had probably taken a normal amount.
Aslan stood stock still as he absorbed everything he was seeing and put it together with what he knew and what had happened so far. One of the more important clues was her use of lemon since he knew she used lemon to get rid of offensive smells and lift her sprits. As he pondered that he suddenly remembered the other harem members talking about one time she had a negative reaction to being around roses and cursed himself for being an idiot.
Gathering all the plastic bags and the bottle of oil, he got them as far away from the bedroom as he could, then returned to the bathroom where he stripped quickly and jumped into the shower to scrub any traces of lavender scent from his skin. The other guys had told him that she had always had a heightened sense of smell, but it had become more so a few years ago when a blood clot had lodged itself in the part of the brain that controls the way the body reacts to smells. She had gotten better over time but she still couldnât handle scents like jasmine or overly floral scents at the best of times. If she was feeling unwell, however, then even the scents she could handle, like lavender and roses, would make her condition a lot worse.
He now realized that he had inadvertently triggered a migraine in his beloved wife by opening that bottle near her and touching her face with oil on his hands. He had further added to the problem by trying to hug her with the scent clinging to him. Worse still, she had needed to change the sheets and take care of things while she was in pain. His fists clenched involuntarily and he gritted his teeth in an effort not to lash out and punch the wall, angry with himself for not having been more observant and therefore worsening the situation for her.
Only after Aslan was sure there was no more scent of lavender on him did he stop the shower even though the water had run cold minutes before. After drying himself off and draping a towel around his hips, he took a damp washcloth with him back to the bedroom to wipe her tear stained face.  As he did so she stirred and opened her eyes and mumbled. He leaned closer to her to hear what she was saying âWhat is it love?â
âIâm really, really sorry. Can you forgive me for being mean?â she mumbled sleepily.
âThere is nothing to forgive, I was the insensitive one. Sleep pleaseâ he brushed some hair back from her face and she flinched, bringing a frown to his face.
âPlease, please donât hit me mami and papi, I promise, I will get better right now and help you.â Cia tried to sit up, still half asleep from the medicine she had taken.
Aslan pushed her back down gently then tucked the covers around her. âItâs alright, you are safe, no one will hurt you, itâs me, Aslanâ
Cia opened her eyes widely as his words penetrated the fog in her head and she looked at him with such a mixture of fear and longing his heart felt like it was being squeezed in a vice. Gingerly, she held out her hands to him, vulnerability written all over her face. Â âPlease keep me safeâ the plea tumbling out of her lips like the prayer of a desperate child.
Aslan didnât hesitate as he climbed in beside his treasured princess, shucking his damp towel as he did so. He fitted himself around her back and held her tightly against him, legs intertwined. He gently lifted her red hair away so as not to lay on it then bestowed a kiss to the top of her head as he fitted her to him more snugly. The ebony-haired man reached around and grasped her small hands in his to let her know she was safe and protected. They both normally slept naked so it felt odd to him to feel her t-shirt and panties between them but as long as she needed him, he would remain.
Her even breathing told him she was finally asleep which made him grateful beyond belief that she was resting and at peace. For him, however, the night was endless as he wondered just what it was that had scarred her so deeply. When he could, he was going to ask the others what they knew. For now, he considered it his sacred duty to hold his wife as she slept and do his best to keep her demons at bay.
A mini spin off from my Of Love and Dragons series which you can read part 1 and part 2
This is a birthday present for shortymcpunkbutt who loves Prince Edward and dragons.
Marni's birthday dragon
A gentle touch caressed Marniâs cheek as a soft voice sounded above her âMarni, my princess, wake up.â
âJust a few more minutes, itâs too earlyâ
âI know it is early my flower but today is important. Happy Birthdayâ the low voice replied with an amused tone as the hand continued to stroke her cheek.
âSince itâs my birthday I think I should be allowed to sleep as late as I wantâ Marni burrowed further under the covers, though not far enough to get away from the hand that had now strayed to play with her hair.
âNormally I would agree with you my flower fairy but if you donât wake up you will miss the hatchingâ the voice above her head was definitely amused now.
Marni shot straight up and looked at her husband âThe hatching? Itâs happening? It wasnât supposed to happen for a while longer!â
âYes it is princess.â Edward smiled at her.
Marni had bolted out of bed and headed towards the door when her husband caught her hand and stopped her, holding out some clothing with the other hand. âYou might want to get dressed before you go; while I enjoy the sight of you like this, I would not want other men looking upon your unclad beautyâ
âYouâre rightâ She dressed herself quickly, stuffing her feet in a pair of boots with the help of her husband and headed downstairs hair flying behind her as she had decided it was a waste of time to worry about it.
As they hurried towards the rookery Edward handed her a piece of fruit. âHere, eat this on the way, I asked Louis to ensure there was food waiting for us there as I knew you would want to head straight to the rookery.â
Marni flashed a smile at her husband. âYou know me too well, one of the reasons I love you so.â
âAnd I you my darling roseâ Edward took Marniâs hand as they quickened their pace, breaking into a run for the last few steps. He remembered what it was like when Louis had hatched when he was a young boy and knew that Marni had been longing for this day so he gave thanks to the higher powers that he would be able to share this event with her.
They finally made their way inside the rookery and found the ledge where the egg was sitting. Louis was already there as was young CJ, who would become a part of Marniâs crew.
âEverything is ready, we already have the meat prepared and here is some breakfast for youâ CJ piped up when she saw them.
Marni nodded âThank you CJ and Louis. When did this start?â she stared at the egg, seeing the changes that were taking place on the shell.
âThis morning, I came to check and saw it then went straight to you my loveâ Edward said.
Marni looked at him, puzzled. âWhy would you have checked on it today?â
Edwardâs eyes shifted sideways for a moment. âI have also been talking to the egg, telling the dragon all about you and how wonderful you are, teaching it Charlesian since I know you were teaching it your language and encouraging her to choose to be hatched todayâ
Louis spoke with a sad voice âI donât see why you need a dragon of your own miss. You are part of my crew and I take good care of you, as well as I do my captainâ
Marni smiled at Louis âThat is true but I know Edward will always be first in your heart and it is my duty to become a Captain, I am sure you can understand that. And I will always care for you Louis; no other dragon will take your place in my heart.â
A cracking sound caught their attention and they turned towards the egg, anticipation in all their faces.
The hatching was quick, over almost before it had begun. Â
Marni stepped forward, harness in hand and addressed the hatchling. âMay I give you a name?â
âYesâ the hatchling replied
âYour name is Margaret now. Would you let me put this on you?â
Margaret looked at Marni âYes. Iâm hungryâ
Marni quickly harnessed Margaret as Edward brought the tub of meat forward. Margaret fell on the meat enthusiastically, as everyone silently watched.
As soon as she was done she looked up again at Marni. âYou are Marni? I have heard your voice; I know you will be my Captain. We will fly soon, yes?â
Marni smiled âYes we will fly soonâ
âGood. I donât know what a birthday is but I heard a voice telling me that if I hatched today I would share one with you. That makes me happy.â Margaret said with a contented sigh.
âIt makes me happy too. Happy Birthday Margaretâ Marni reached out and stroked the hatchlings head.
âOh is that what we should say? Then Happy Birthday Marniâ Margaret looked pleased at being stroked and pushed a little against Marniâs hand. âI like that. I like the man who talked about you too but I like you best.â
Edward stepped up and wrapped his arms around his wife, kissing her. âHappy Birthday my love. I wish I could have done something more for you to celebrate your birthday my fairy but will you accept my heart as your gift from me to you?â
âI already have, and really, this is the best birthday I could possibly imagine. Thank you for encouraging Margaretâ Marni flung her arms around his neck and kissed him even more soundly much to the amusement of CJ and the confusion of Margaret.
âAnd thank you Louis and CJ for helping. This really feels like familyâ
âWhere are you taking me? Why do I have to be blindfolded?â Mandy asked with a mixture of excitement and apprehension as the hand that held hers pulled her forward.
A low laugh sounded from ahead. âIf I told you that, it wouldnât be a surpriseâ
Mandy heard the sound of a door opening then she felt a breeze caress her face âAre we outside? Why are we outside?â
âOnly for a moment, just let me guide youâ The owner of the voice came closer and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into him tightly. âAlmost thereâ
The creak alerted Mandy to the fact that another door had been openedÂ
âWatch your step; lift your foot, alright good. Stay there a moment.â The door closed behind her and he took her hand again. âJust a few more steps. Ok Mandy, sit on the floor hereâ
âWhy?â
âPlease do it my loveâ
Mandy was puzzled but she did as he asked. She wasnât sure what her husband was up to but she trusted him implicitly.
Suddenly a heavy weight landed on her lap and her hands closed around something warm, soft, and furry.
Mandyâs blindfold was taken off as she felt something wet across her face. Startled, she looked down to see a wolf puppy snuggling up to her and trying to enthusiastically lick every part of her face that it could.
Mandy looked up to see her husband, Ivan, kneeling on one knee in front of her, elbow propping him up as he leaned forward slightly, a slightly anxious expression on his face.
âDo you like her? Â I know how much you love Yuri and Sneg and when I found her when I was out hunting last time I brought her home for you. I know itâs not the most expensive birthday present and I can still get you some jewelry butâ
Mandy got up swiftly, hugging the squirming wolf pup and silenced Ivan with a kiss. âThis is the best birthday present you could have given me. I mean it, this is perfect. I couldnât have asked for a better birthday or husband. Thank you!â
At that moment the wolf pup let out a small bark as if to say it agreed with the sentiment.
âHappy birthday my loveâ Ivan smiled and returned the kiss. âAlthough it is I who should be thanking you for being my wifeâ
I know there isnât the promised smutyet but it is coming. Part 3 starts off with a bang. (that was kind of awful even for me hahaha)

But part 3 is almost done and should be out pretty soon.
Of Love and Dragons part 2
For one, he had his position as the Crown Prince of Altaria to consider. He wouldnât dream of leaving a child behind if he was able to go back to his country. Secondly, he wasnât one to engage in casual affairs; he liked to flirt but it never went beyond that. The third and most important reason was that he could see no other woman but Xiao.
Word had come that Altaria was still under enemy control as the war on the continent heated up. Fortunately, his friend, Prince Edward of Charles, had also been able to escape and found his way to the covert.
Neither Roberto nor Edward knew what the future would hold. For Edward, at least, the future was looking very grim. The war had been started when a small group of rebels had stormed the palace in Charles and captured the royal family. The King had gotten word that the rebels were on their way and so had forced Edward to flee on his dragon, Louis. When the rebels had shown up, it had been arranged for a look alike to take Edwards place so everyone assumed that he had been publicly beheaded along with the rest of the royals. Edward had already been grieving about having to leave his family and country behind but hearing about the executions had made him withdraw completely, to the point where he would only speak briefly with Louis and Roberto if he spoke at all. Roberto was at a loss as to how to help his once cheerful and talkative friend and that added to the weight on his shoulders.
Roberto walked along the training grounds towards Ingrid and Xiao. Seeing Xiaoâs smiling face, he thought to himself that maybe it wouldnât be so bad to stay here with her and build a family. He staggered for a moment, startled at his own thoughts. Up till now he had only thought about Altaria and his duty, but with the ongoing war and the current anti-royal sentiment raging all over the various nations, he wasnât sure if going back would be possible. He raised his hand in greeting when she noticed him and she waved back with a smile.
Xiao frowned when she saw the look on Robertoâs face. She had come to realize that a deep sadness and loneliness lurked under the joking and the flirting. Ever since his friend arrived from Charles, she had also witnessed his compassion and wondered just what it was that had wounded them both so profoundly. She knew their countries had been taken over in the war, but this seemed to go deeper. Xiao wanted to see Robertoâs beautiful smile again, something that had appeared with less frequency lately and she was determined to do something about it. She wrote something down quickly and gave it to Izzy to deliver, then whispered something to Ingrid.
âRoberto, just the man I wanted to seeâ she called out cheerfully as he came closer.
âOh? Whatâs up?â her beautiful face smiling at him brought forth a smile of his own. It took almost all his willpower to resist the urge to hug her and hold on to her for eternity.
âWell, I was thinking about playing hooky for the day and running off for a few hours to my favorite spot. Want to join me?â
âYes! Letâs go.â Roberto brightened up at the possibility. Being so far away from everything and not knowing his way around had prevented him from leaving the area and he was itching to go out and explore.
âGive me a moment, Iâm waiting for somethingâ Xiao scanned the grounds looking for Izzy. âThere she is.â
Izzy came running up with a basket, with a smaller dragon Roberto recognized as a captainless courier beside her.
âThank you for agreeing to take us out, Lester. I promise to get you a bangle next time I go to town. You like red gems right?â
âYes, I do!â Lester the dragon replied enthusiastically.
Xiao turned to Roberto âLester will fly us out there and then come back for us andâ she held the basket aloft âI have food and a blanket. Shall we?â she smiled invitingly as she clambered aboard the dragonâs back. Roberto wasted no time in climbing aboard with her.
âRoberto, where are you going?â Albertoâs voice rang out. âYou still have duties left for today.â
Roberto slumped as Alberto came into view.
Xiao turned to look at him. âDonât worry, we can go.â
Roberto grimaced. âYou donât understand; he has a special ability to track me down somehow. His nose is uncanny.â
Xiao grinned. âOh Ingrid is going to keep him too busy for that. Lester, letâs goâ
Lester took off and Roberto looked back to see that Ingrid, who was easily twice Albertoâs size, had seized him in an embrace. Roberto could faintly hear his dragon shouting, âMadam, you must let me go! I have already told you I will not give you an egg and I must make sure my master is performing his duties!â
Roberto laughed as they flew. He would feel sorry for Alberto, but for the first time in a long while he was free and he felt the tension in his muscles melt away even though he knew it would come back in a few hours.
They flew in silence as Roberto admired the scenery below. He had not been able to see much of it when he had flown here all those months ago, so he was taking in his fill. Within half an hour, they were settling down by a lake in a rich valley.
âLester, remember to come back at sundown, right to this spot.â Xiao addressed the excited dragon.
âI will, I promise!â Lester took off without further ado and Roberto turned to survey the area around the lake. There was a small clearing in front of the lake where the lush trees grew close and thick together. The sunlight that filtered in bathed the clearing, giving it an otherworldly air.
âAre you hungry?â Xiaoâs voice called from behind him.
Roberto turned to see that Xiao had spread a blanket and placed food on plates already. He sat down and accepted the plate Xiao offered him.
He picked up a chicken leg and bit into it. âThis is good even if itâs cold.â He wolfed it down quickly and looked for a drink.
Xiao handed him a canteen. âNo wine, weâll have to make do with water today.â
Roberto took it and drank gratefully, then giving it back to Xiao who also took a quick drink before capping it.
âDo you come here a lot?â Roberto asked while picking up an apple. He bit into it as he looked at Xiao expectantly. She didnât talk about herself much so he was hoping to get her to open up. He wanted to learn more about her.
âNot as much as I would like. I think last time was before the war broke out. Iâve missed it.â Xiao had proceeded to polish off the rest of her plate with the efficiency born of being in the Corps.
âThank you for bringing me, then. I havenât really seen much of your country. I came straight here from the boat and any other time I have been here has been on state occasions. Itâs a really beautiful country.â Roberto was so engrossed in looking at Xiao that he hadnât noticed the slip till she pounced on it.
âState occasions?â
Roberto frowned, struggling to come up with a plausible excuse. Finally he looked at Xiao and chose his words carefully. âXiao, I respect you too much to lie to you, so I wonât. However, I donât know how much I can tell you about why I am here. Itâs a rather delicate situation at the moment. If it were just me involved, I would have no hesitation in telling you, but itâs not. I hope you can at least understand even if you canât forgive my keeping a secret from you.â
Xiao started plucking some grass idly, trying to hide her embarrassment as she spoke âI apologize, I really shouldnât have asked. Iâm a Captain, I should know better. âÂ
Surprised at her words, Roberto grasped her hands wrapping his own big, tanned hands around her small, pale ones. âNo, please. Donât apologize. Itâs natural to be curious. I should apologize for causing you distress. Tell me, what can I do to make it up to you?â
Xiao blinked at him, startled. Then a mischievous grin bloomed across her face as she thought of something else she had wondered about him since she met him. âWell, if you really want to make it up to me, why donât you sing me a song? Something from Altaria.â She was sure he could sing well since his normal speaking voice had a very musical quality to it and frankly, it always made her shiver when he spoke.
It was Robertoâs turn to look taken aback. âSing?â He laughed. âAre you sure? It seems like a poor way of making things up to you. Alberto is always telling me I sound like a crow.â
âItâs what I wantâ Xiaoâs eyes sparkled, daring him to take up on her request.
âHow can I refuse a lovely lady her requestâ Roberto let go of her hands and stood up. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and began to sing Altariaâs anthem. His heart swelled with emotion as he thought of his country being ravaged by war, how his people must be suffering, worry for his family, wondering if the country would be the same as before. The overwhelming emotions injected a passion into his singing that made it more powerful than a mere song. It truly became an anthem, heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. He wasnât aware of the tears pouring down his face as he continued, his voice carrying over the quiet clearing.
Xiaoâs heart felt like it was breaking and renewing over and over again as she listened to him sing and watched the emotions play across his face. She reached up to wipe away her own tears as she realized just how much he had been suffering under the cheerful front he always put up. His voice, his very essence, touched her soul in a way nothing had since she had first seen Ingrid hatch and that feeling made her nervous and happy all at once. She was quiet when he was done and waited for him to look at her. When he finally opened his eyes she could see he was embarrassed. Quickly, she stood up and went to him, offering him a handkerchief she pulled out of her inner breast pocket.
âThank you, Roberto. I am honored that you would sing that for me. It obviously means a lot to you. I hope that someday you will be able to go back to Altaria.â
Roberto accepted the handkerchief and smiled tremulously at Xiao. âThank you for the kind words. If you donât mind, I need to go wash my face for a moment.â He strode off towards the lake, hoping to clear his head. Yes, he missed his country and its people and he worried for their sake, but for some reason hearing Xiao say that she hoped he would be able to go back wounded him in a way he didnât quite understand. He washed his face and lingered by the side of the lake, images of his country and Xiao overlapping in his mind. Suddenly, he heard footsteps followed by a splash. Surprised, he looked at the lake only to see that Xiao had jumped into the lake wearing only her smallclothes. He was frozen at first at the sight of her dripping wet and he just knew that if she were to stand up, the wet clothing would leave very little to the imagination. Face inflamed, he stood up and turned his back to the lake.
âIâll go back to the blanket now and leave you to your swimming, have fun!â he yelled over his shoulder to her.
âWhy? The water is great. You should jump in!â
Roberto choked and spluttered when he heard that. âI canât do that; youâre in your, uhmâŚâ His voice trailed off as his cheeks burned at the thought of what she was wearing or rather what she wasnât.
âDonât be and ass; havenât you been around us long enough to know we are all comrades in arms here? What do you think we do on a battlefield? And here I thought Altarians were less uptight. Suit yourself though; donât let me stop you from wallowing in your misery as you keep wearing that wool overcoat, the sun beating down on you making it worse and worse.â Xiao treaded water lightly as she teased him, wondering if he would ever get over his shyness around them. It really would improve morale overall if he could but if she was honest with herself she really just wanted to see what was under that coat and shirt. Xiao suspected it would be just as beautiful as the rest of him. Sure, she had seen her fellow aviators before, she considered them brothers, but the thought of seeing Roberto was quite different and her thoughts were definitely going in directions that were distinctly unsisterly.
Xiao wasnât really sure just what she thought she was doing, she had never really considered being with a man before, all the others at the covert were people she had grown up with so she couldnât bring herself to see them as potential partners and the thought of just having sex for the purposes of breeding was not to her taste. She knew she should at some point have a girl for Ingridâs sake but until now she had avoided thinking about it too much. Xiao ducked under the water to cool her suddenly flushed face. She came up when she sensed that something had entered the lake. Looking around, she saw Roberto had finally decided to jump in, although, to her disappointment, he had kept on his undershirt.
âGlad to see you get over your shyness,â Xiao smirked at Roberto. She paddled over to him and splashed him slightly. âFeels good right?â
âHey now!â Roberto laughed and splashed her back. An epic water battle ensued as they splashed, laughed, and chased each other around the lake.
Xiao had managed to get away from him and turned but couldnât see him anywhere âRoberto?â she called. She didnât see any movement at all and was beginning to worry. âRoberto, quit playing, are you hiding in the trees?â She had started towards the shore when all of a sudden she was grabbed from behind and dunked. Xiao was sputtering as she came back to the surface only to see Roberto inches away from her, laughing.
She hit his arm and started swimming away. âYou jerk! You had me worried about you and then you go and do that!â
Roberto swam after her and caught her arm âIâm sorry, forgive meâ he tried his best to look contrite but the mischief dancing in his eyes gave him away.
âYou are not sorry at all. Ugh! Youâre so mean! I really thought you had drowned!â
Xiao tried to swim away again but Roberto pulled her close to him and embraced her.
âI really am sorry.â His voice was low and contrite. âI didnât think youâd be so worried about me. I do mean it.â
Xiao stared into his warm brown eyes, sincerity shining out of them. As they continued to look at each other the emotions behind his eyes shifted and became intense. She wanted to look away but couldnât, she was mesmerized as his eye color deepened and his face changed. Slowly they drew together until their lips met in a mere brush and suggestion of a kiss before it deepened into something more. Xiao clung to his shoulders as the pressure of his lips on hers increased.Â
Robertoâs tongue licked her bottom lip, seeking entrance into her mouth. Once he had gained access, he plundered it with eager need, tasting and exploring her like a man possessed. He picked her up and fitted her legs around his waist so as to be as close as possible to her as he continued his kisses.
Xiao was startled at his actions but let herself be lost in the moment, arms wrapping around his shoulders for balance as they pressed into each other. Her long dark hair, heavy with water, fell around them as she brought her hands up to cup his face, giving and receiving in equal measure in this kiss that seemed to last an eternity.
Roberto started wading towards the shore with her firmly wrapped around him. They had just reached the shore when they heard wings above them and Xiao slid off Robertoâs body quickly and composed herself.
âThere you are, Roberto! How could you take off like that? You know there is still a lot to be done at the covert.â Alberto chided upon landing.
Xiao stepped forward to address him. âDonât blame him, I took it upon myself to bring him here. I saw that he was looking discouraged and wanted to try to cheer him up a bit. So please, blame me for any trouble. I will help him with any work that was backed up and will shoulder any punishment that comes of it.â
âNow wait a moment, I wanted to come, and I will take on any punishmentâ Roberto said as he came to stand beside Xiao, grabbing her hand and squeezing it. âYou did nothing wrong.â
Alberto sighed âYou are right, Captain Li. He has been unusually quiet and obedient lately. I should have thought of it myself. Nevertheless, we do have to go back now. I doubt there will be punishment. No one really knows you are gone, since Ingrid covered for you wellâ a tinge of admiration crept into Albertoâs voice at this last pronouncement.
âWe will pack up. Give us a moment please, Alâ Roberto tugged Xiao to the edge of the clearing so he could speak to her privately.
âAbout what happened in the lake, I didnât mean any disrespect, I donât think of you as the others- Oh, what am I trying to say?â he ran his hand through his hair not quite knowing how to put it.
âI know you didnât and donât. Come to my room later tonight and we can talk about this. For now, we need to dry off and get back before Alberto has a fit.â Xiao gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before going back to the blanket to pack up, Roberto trailing after her in a daze. He wasnât sure what he hoped would happen when he went to her room, but he knew there was no force on earth that could stop him from visiting her that night.
Wherein our hero, private-hiro, was challenged to name 3 people who he would want in a zombie apocalypse. The lucky people named were Mandy and Cia, known as otakupotato andtherandomgoddess respectively. The fourth member of our party is a turtle that has been named Mr. Snuggles by Mandy and Cia.  (This was written as a special request from Hiro who wanted Cia to write it for some reason or another.)
This is their story. You will see moments of epic fail and epic badassery from each of our protagonists, no one, not even me, is safe from my satiric pen (keyboard really but pen sounds better)Â
I plan on trying to write one a week to two weeks with some audience participation. Â Yes, there are more chapters already outlined!!Â
Since this is pure crack, there will not be that much editing other than basic grammar. You all know I can do better but meh, this is CRACK. You want extremely well crafted with every word lovingly massaged into shape go read my other fic.
You have been warned.
Chapter 1
God damnit Hiro!
Cia was having a lot of trouble sleeping, more so than normal and she usually had a lot of trouble sleeping anyway. All day she had this weird feeling something was going to happen and it had only gotten worse at bedtime. Frustrated, she had just about decided to get out of bed when she flipped over and fell right out of bed, no easy feat when youâre the only person sleeping in a king size bed. Even though the mattress and box spring lay directly on the floor, she kept falling for far longer than she should have but landed with a solid thump before she could figure out just what was going on. Â
âHuh, someone must have heard me fall and turned on the light, that was nice of themâ Cia said this as she noticed how bright it had become even with her eyes still closed. âMight as well get up.â
She opened her eyes as she started to push herself up when she noticed two very important things. One was that the carpet of her bedroom floor seemed to have been replaced by grass and dirt and the second was that it was bright and sunny. With these clues she concluded that she was somehow outside, a fact that was confirmed when she was fully upright and had scanned her surroundings. She was in a park, that much she could tell, there were trees around, a wide expanse of grass, some public bathrooms, and a road not too far from where she was standing.
As she brushed the dirt off herself she realized she was wearing a spaghetti strapped red dress and black boots. âWait, this looks like the thing the chick in that resident evil movie wore. Well, this is an unusual dream, donât want it, so Iâll be waking up nowâ Cia did her best to wake up or change the dream, something she could do with ease normally but finally had to resort to pinching herself. In the end, she realized she was, in fact, not dreaming and this was altogether too real.
âWell then, I guess first thing I have to do is figure out where I am and why I am hereâ Cia started walking towards the bathrooms, hoping to find one of those information boards parks usually had. When she got closer she realized there was a young lady slumped against the wall. She stopped to take a good look at her just in case. The girl had a very pretty face framed with long black hair and was wearing a t-shirt, leather jacket, jeans and sneakers. The more she studied her face, the more familiar the girl was to her. The girl opened her eyes and met hers and they both froze in shock.
âMandy?!? Tater???â
âCia Chiquita?!?â
Mandy got up and they both shot towards each other, stopping just short of hugging then both started speaking at once.
âwhereâ
âhowâ
âwhyâ
âWhat are you wearing?â
âhowâd you get here?â
Cia held her hands up and took a deep breath âOK hold on, one at a time. How did you get here?â
âI have no idea. I fell asleep in my bed and woke up and saw you. And this, wait, where am I?â Mandy looked around confused.
âWell, this seems to be a park of some sort, looks kind of like one we have near home though it doesnât feel like home. I was looking for some sort of information board but I donât see one. There donât seem to be any clues as to why we are here anywhere around so I suggest we get to the roadâ
âSounds like a plan, letâs goâ They took off for the road when Mandy spoke again âI have a questionâ
âWhatâs that?â
âWhy do you look like youâre cosplaying Alice from Resident Evil? Not only the outfit but the hair too.â
Ciaâs eyes widened in shock and she reached up to touch her hair. Sure enough, it was a lot shorter than when she had gone to bed. âYou know, I would like the answer to that one as well. All I know is that I was in my Eeyore nightie, I rolled over in bed and landed here, wearing this thing. I donât get it. I never had the urge to since I donât watch the movies. Â The last time I even thought about it was when Hiro for some odd reason compared me to herâ
They stopped for a moment and looked at each other then shook their heads and kept walking.
A small seed of suspicion had started growing in their minds but neither wanted to voice it, afraid that if they did, it would be true.
They finally got to the road and looked both ways, seeing nothing but trees in either direction.
Cia spoke up âWhat do you think? Does this look like home to you? Which way do you think we should go?â
âDefinitely doesnât look like home to me either. I think we should head rightâ
âOK, one direction is as good as the otherâ Cia had just finished speaking when a noise sounded from overhead and they looked up. Something was hurtling down towards Mandy and she reflexively reached out to catch it.
They both looked at the object in her arms and realized it was a turtle with a collar around its neck that had a tag attached to it.
âIs that what I think it is?â Cia pointed at the turtle
âIf you think itâs a turtle then I think you are correct. Letâs read the tagâ
âI think you and I both know what that tag says and what it means right?â Cia said a grim look on her face.
Mandy nodded with an equal expression. âYes I think you are right. You want to read it or shall I?â
âIâll do it; Iâm the older one, so I should be the one risking getting bitten if itâs that kind of turtle.â Cia reached out for the tag and read out loud âMr. Snugglesâ
Mandy and Cia looked at each other, not noticing the sound of a car coming towards them as the realization sunk in and they yelled simultaneously âGod Damnit Hiro!!â
âYou called?â said a voice from the direction of the road.
