The Norse
Generally, media and most of modern books (specially and sadly school books) describe Norse as brutal barbarians or people that went raiding and pillaging everywhere they could. But, obviously, Nordic culture and people weren't just like this. During the history a lot of country, populations or impires went raiding and conquering other territories, like Romans, Mongols, Huns, Egyptians, and Charlemagne himself (who some believes he is the cause of the beginning of the raids in Europe). So Vikings did nothing different by other populations in the past. The Viking Age, hitorically, began with the attack (year 793) on the Lindisfarne monastery in England, which is considered the first known Viking raid made by Danes (population of actual Danemark) and it had its end in the year 1066 with the battle of Stamford Bridge and the defeat of Harald Hardrada. But Nordic culture is not referred only to this period of history, but it is one of the most acients, advanced and important cultures in the world history. Today, we can find a lot of knowledge around of all Scandinavian countries visiting museums with a lot of artefacts, and living villages. The Nordic people weren't only warriors, but also great and famous sailors and craftsman, great merchants, with a complex and organized society, and with their own means of communicating (talked and written) and their own religion.

Norse in the soul
Hello everyone. Moved by my interest in retracing my roots, I have decided to create a profile about my passion: viking age and old norse culture. All I post, is sourced by years of studies and researches made by myself (about 18 years) reading books, listening to differents people expert on this manner and other.
I hope who will read this post, will be interested in sharing and creating a friendly comunity based on this amazing culture.
