makes me so sad to think about dee trying to unlearn the internalised misogyny that she has been suffering with her entire life and ultimately failing because the negative male influences in her childhood that inflicted those beliefs onto her (frank, dennis, mac, charlie) have remained a constant into her adult years

something about how dee’s life has always revolved around dennis (dennis is her brother; dennis keeps snitching on her; dennis gets her weed; dennis makes fun of her back brace; mac and charlie are dennis’ dumb friends; dennis applies to the same university as her; dennis owns the bar she works at) that she is now unable to live a life apart from him because he will always cling on.

& i don’t mean that i view her as an extension of dennis, bur rather that is how he has conditioned her to view herself. because dennis can’t live without dee - but he knows that dee is fully able to live without him. so he sinks in his claws and kicks her where it hurts and holds her so tightly that it bruises, so that she doesn’t leave, ever.
