broke: chekov's accent in star trek: tos is so horribly exaggerated it's not even funny, besides, it doesn't make sense that a genius would struggle with his pronounciation so much after months spent on enterprise
woke: chekov is absolutely capable of speaking perfect english. however, he only does that when somebody manages to pronounce his name correctly
