Ok, the Jane ones really move me, because he could have very well chosen to stand on the sidelines and watch her die. Instead, he was actively trying to protect her all the time. Like, he could have made a run for it, no one would’ve had the time to stop him. But he didn’t. And this, in no way fits the narrative of a villain or a psychopath.

Great analysis on Loki's scene with Odin. I'm curious...when does Fury mentioned torture to Thor? Not saying he didn't, I just want to know which part because I missed it.

Yup, so in the above dialogue, it becomes pretty obvious what Fury wants from Thor, especially when talking about pain. I hope this answers your question.

I’m not sure I agree Loki ever really wanted the/a throne, even after he discovered his entire life was a lie. The throne is more a symbol or a means to achieve what Loki actually wants at any given moment.

In the latter half of Thor, that’s acceptance and validation from Odin. He works so hard to keep Thor away because, as regent, Loki has the power to defeat the Frost Giants without costing Asgard anything. He thinks that defeating this enemy will prove he’s worthy, and that he belongs on Asgard. That he’s not one of those monsters…

In Avengers, Loki says he wants to rule Midgard, but it seems far more likely that he’s trying to hurt Thor, embarrass Odin, and above all free himself from Thanos. Others will argue that Loki’s trying to lose. Either way, he doesn’t actually want to rule Midgard. At the same time, this is when he begins repeating that he was the rightful King of Asgard, that he was promised a throne, etc. But, again, it’s not the throne Loki cares about, it’s the injustice of being promised something no one ever had any intention of giving him. Being promised his father’s approval, his people’s acceptance, worthiness (or the opportunity to receive it, at least), only to discover that what you are is entirely incompatible with everything you ever wanted. So he harps on about a throne–about that part of the lie–because it allows him to appear detached. He’s much less vulnerable demanding power than he is demanding acceptance, especially when he doesn’t even believe he’s worthy of that acceptance (internalized racism is a bitch).

The deleted scene from TDW contributes to that idea. The fantasy isn’t about ruling or holding power, it’s about the people celebrating him (the way they do Thor). It’s about being worthy. Loki does get the throne again at the end of TDW, but he usurps it because he wants freedom and safety, and he can get that by masquerading as Odin. And even then he offers it to Thor. He might have anticipated that Thor would reject, but he still offered the choice.

Just started reading Sherlock Holmes and all the adaptations are wrong. This man is a delight. He gets excited about hemoglobin and is ecstatic at the thought of Watson as a roommate. He purposefully forgets how the solar system works so he has more room in his brain for crime. He shows Watson the dirt stains on his trousers and he can tell what part of London they come from based on color and consistency. (As far as i can tell Watson didn't ask, Sherlock just gets back from walks and tells Watson about the stains unprompted.) The text specifically says "Holmes was certainly not a difficult man to live with." Why does every adaptation make him unpleasant and rude, he's literally just eccentric. He's such a goober, I love him.

Did an Instagram Q&A recently and got asked our biggest Holmes opinion and it was this—“HE’S A NICE MAN!” I yell for yet another day, banging my fists on the table in righteousness. He is just a weird little dude! He loves effusively and laughs a lot and gives science related high fives and it is the coolest part of him! Let Sherlock Holmes be on Mythbusters he would LOVE IT!!!!

In a lot of adaptions you are left wondering why the fuck they so much as tolerate each other

He is perfect as Sherlock Holmes (no shade to Jeremy Brett, love him forever), but man has he never been in a good adaption EVER

Have….have we ever considered the fact how utterly disturbing it is that Thanos a) waves Thor in front of Loki because he knows that Loki would kill the universe to save him, and B) HE RECOGNIZED THOR AS LOKI’S BROTHER ON THE SPOT?

I don’t think that Thanos, Thor, and Loki had a little sit down before the battle started and talked about familial relationships.

This line, usually thought of in passing, means these things:

Thanos knows how important Thor is to Loki, which means Thanos and Loki have talked about this beforehand.

Thanos knows what Thor looks like which means Thanos has seen Thor from Loki’s head before

Thanos knows that Loki has the Tesseract. He could have chosen ANY PERSON on the ship to convince Loki to give up the Tesseract, but instead, he picked Thor out of the group and CHOSE to use Thor against Loki on PURPOSE.

Thanos didn’t demand the Tesseract from Loki first, he WANTED to play with him and he WANTED to torture Loki and he WANTED to see Loki mouth “please” and he WANTED to see Loki’s desperation and he WANTED to see Loki break again, and he WANTED Loki to think Thor getting tortured was his fault, not Thanos’

Thanos knows Loki on an intimate level that we do not fully understand.

Thanos probably knows Loki better than his family does

And Thanos, more than likely, killed him in the way that he knew Loki was terrified of

I think the death Loki is specificaly terrefied of would be a lot more psychologically fucked up

I think Thanos didn’t realyl have the presence of mind to realyl come up with something fucked up, because Loki attacking him with a dagger made him really angry and annoyed and so he just reacted, as you slap at a fly …

What boggles me is how many people want the TVA to hop in and “redeem/call out/ give therapy too” other characters. Like why. WHY? 😭 You guys really want the TVA to come for characters they claim to love? Do these people even LIKE these characters to want this???? Do they really believe the TVA is the organization to call out characters they hate and change them??? I want them to say tf away from other characters I like, and would consider them hypocritical if they came for the ones I hate.

It's because people love misery. It's because people think redemption comes in the form of punishment and suffering. The TVA are the embodiment of the "I can fix him says woman who is worse" meme. They don't have right to call out anyone, and any character I want to have a redemption arc I don't want them to have to suffer.

Going through kidnapping and torture is part of Tony character arc, but it is Yensin friendship and words that change him. It's Gamora finally listening Nebula that pushed her to change, it's Clint's reassurance to Wanda that pushed her to action.

You can't have the horrific torture and the comfort come from the same place. That's a abuse, that's abusers do. The characters I want to have an arc often had crappy lives before I don't want them to get piled on any more.

Honestly, it is victim blaming.
