Meaning Behind “The Sun and The Star” title

I saw on tiktok somebody calling out the title saying it seemed like a little girl wrote it and I could assume why. It seems basic because yeah, WIll and Damesen probably represents The Sun and Bob and Small Bob the Star.

And the idea that those are the two main characters Nico wants to keep safe, WIll the sun and Bob the star. Basic.

OR.

Maybe we’re THINKING basic.

And The Sun and The Star don’t represnt People but Choices.

I had this theory about what of equal value would Nico have to sacrafice and maybe it’s the idea he has to choose between maybe sacraficing himself (because he’d never let WIll do it) or sacraficing the mythomagic statue that his sister died for, the last thing that gives him proof his sister ever really existed speaking they don’t have any like, pictures, and her hat and jacket died with her.

So what if his choices are between giving up Apollo’s son, giving up his next morning, giving up his bright future. Giving up THE SUN.

Or giving up all the yesterday’s, giving up on his childhood he never got to have, giving up on the dream of what he thought the God’s would be, giving up on holding onto the idea of being somebody’s younger brother for his sister doesn’t exist anymore and he’s now the oldest of the children of Death...What if giving up the statue and in turn giving up his dark past and all the small bright aspects of it, is him giving up on yesterdays Stars.

“What does the prophecy mean that Nico will have to “leave something of equal value behind?”

I’ll tell you what I think it means.

He’s going to bring that damn statue back.

That damn mythomagic statue that his sister DIED for.

He’s going to leave behind the thing that took his sister away so he can get somebody else back.

Mythomagic was something he was obsessed with and his sister was something he tried so hard to get back.

This could be symbolism of not forcing what he used to love away from him, but this is the act of letting the hold is father has on him, his childhood, his sister who’s already been gone-go.

He’s not getting *rid* of it.

He’s letting them go for a future that he, Will, Small Bob and Bob deserve to have.
