digital selfharm is real. do NOT check up on that ex-partner/ex-friend. do NOT reread those old messages/conversations that you know will hurt your feelings all over again or that will otherwise make you feel like shit. do NOT block evade to see if you’re being talked about. inhale. exhale. let it pass and you’ll be better for it.
Walking out of The Odyssey having enjoyed it and seeing it have rave reviews on Letterboxd and then logging onto tumblr and seeing all the criticism:
When I read it for school a few years ago I was like "This would be a great movie" and picturing scenes in my head. So when I found out the movie was happening I was really excited. Did it perfectly match my imagination? No. Did it perfectly match the original story? No. But did I fucking love it? Yes. Did I have full-body goosebumps by the time the credits rolled? You bet I did. I didn't know if there would ever even *be* a movie and I'm just really grateful I got one. Even the things that were a little disappointing (I loved Athena in the book and how involved in the story she was) are also things I deeply appreciated about the film (Athena as the personification of Wisdom wearing the face of Odysseus's shame, illustrating how wisdom is often gained following our worst mistakes).
