Newton Faulkner - I Need Something
Loving derives from intimacy, the prolonged and detailed surveillance of a foreign soul.
A General Theory of Love
Big clear blue skies over the ocean always give me space to think. This was Palm Beach the other day, on a beautifully sunny but slightly chilly day. The perfect setting to do some thinking and get some perspective.
I miss the time when things felt magical
I wrote that title 5 years ago, scared, lonely and desperate, feeling like I'd set myself on an unbreakable downward spiral. Why have those words suddenly floated back to the surface of my mind? I've come away on the biggest adventure of my life, to the opposite side of the world, and yet somehow I'm feeling trapped. I've travelled the whole length of the earth only to bundle myself up in a little scared cocoon here. I need to find the bravery, inspiration and motivation within myself again to get back into gear, be true to myself and take a leap with my eyes closed. I need to find that magical feeling again. Which means I need to make a change. Here's to making jumps and taking risks...
Just rediscovered these old little musings of mine and oh how my life has changed in the few years that I've been updating this. I'm now living the opposite side of the world to my home and the place I was when I last wrote something on here. New places, new people and new adventures are happening that I hadn't even dreamed up at that time. And these are still my souvenirs.
Life Is Hard - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (Teen Daze Remix)
I recommend turning off your phone, closing your eyes and just lying back for this one. It's pure bliss in music form.
Many thanks for your considered and perfectly apt response. The main reason for my message was because I cooked a rather delicious vegetarian lasagne recently so was intrigued by your opinion. I approve 100% of how you take your tea, and also your desire to go somewhat off the beaten track to Myanmar. I'm also currently very much approving of Le Onde as I write this. So bravo.
Sounds like full marks for me then? ;) On the dinner choice I applaud you for cooking a lasagne from scratch, my patience usually fails me on that one!
I would like to know more please. You're favourite vegetarian meal? How you take your tea? A faraway destination you wish to visit in the next 24 months? Your favourite piano-based song? Many thanks in advance for your participation.
Haha, I like the formality of your request!Favourite meal would have to be a good hearty vegetarian lasagne, packed full of lovely veg (especially mushrooms and aubergines!).Tea is always to be taken with just a splash of milk, no sugar - and English breakfast is the best blend. In the next 24 months I will be a fully-fledged graduate with no commitments in the UK, so I’m hoping to do a big trip and include a few different places. High on my wish list at the moment are Myanmar and Cambodia. The last question is the trickiest… My favourite composer for the piano is Ludovico Einaudi, and Le Onde is a beautiful song of his. In more popular music, a short but sweet favourite of mine is Postcards From Far Away by Coldplay, especially when they bring it in at the end of this live version of The Hardest Part.Hope that satisfies your curiosity :)
Cavalier - James Vincent McMorrow
First track off the new album spells good things for James Vincent McMorrow by the sounds of this. His voice is just so wonderfully warm, I want to wrap it round me and sink into this song.
Hey there, really glad I stumbled upon your Tumblr, it makes me smile :) xoxo
Ah thank you very much, that put a smile on my face :) I loved scrolling through your blog too, it's full of lovely things x

Bon Iver and The Staves - re:Stacks
I'd woken up early, and I took a long time getting ready to exist.
Fernando Pessoa - The Book of Disquiet
Lily Myers - 'Shrinking Women'
Such a powerful piece about the gender differences in body image. The continual applause throughout this video gets kind of annoying but it's well deserved.
Those Dancing Days - Hitten
I rediscovered this song tonight, used to be a favourite of mine a few years ago. There's nothing like a good bit of Scandinavian synth-y pop to cheer the spirits.

This is really cool - simple things like this are so easy but so worth doing. Now set as my default search engine.
