@sketchy-panda
Sigh. At least I have this.
Bad writing is great!!!!
Bad writing means you took the time to write something, you, a real human being. It means you created something! And you have the awareness to see that there's room for improvement, too!!!
Bad writing is wonderful!!! Bad writing is a platform from which you can build your masterpiece! Bad writing is the backbone of good writing!
Give yourself permission to write badly. No, actually- give yourself permission to write something TERRIBLE. Give yourself permission to write such drivel that you can barely read it.
Nothing comes out a masterpiece the first time!! You think Isaac Asimov never wrote a total stinker he had to rebuild from the ground up? You think Jules Verne never wrote utter slop for a first draft?
WRITE SOMETHING AWFUL!!! Write something so bad you cringe about it years later!!! And then when that's done, write some more!!!!!
Here is the first part of the set of storyboard for sequence nine of the black cauldron. Here, we got to see the part in which the horn king was about to use the cauldron to unleash his powers and resurrected army of deathless warriors. Here, we got to see a few bits of missing lines like “I hope you’re feeling comfortable.” from Creeper, “Welcome.” from the Horned King and “Oh, thanks very much.” from Fflewddur. there was also an alternate version of how the thing goes which made a bit from how it was in a film for a yard to see the poses that the horned king took when he was unleashing the cauldrons powers while the pose in the film was the same throughout. and also an additional shot of the cauldron shaking during the part when he announced “Arise my messengers of death! Our time has arrived!” and also an initial shot of Gurgi sneaking into the castle through the moat.
Stay tuned for the next part of this set of storyboards.
Here is the fourth and final part of the set of storyboards for the black cauldron. Here, Eilonwy, Gurgi and Fflewddur decided to agree with Taran on getting the cold back and Doli protested against all of that. and they got so fed up with his bad nothing that they told him to go away while they went off to get the cauldron back. And in the hopes that it would stop the horned king. Doli went his separate way from while he regretted saying bad things to the companions.
That is all for the set up story boards for sequence eight. Stay tuned for the next part in which we are about to reach the climax of the film and what could’ve been used for it.
Here is the third part of the set of storyboards for sequence eight of the black cauldron. we continue where we left off which is when Taryn and his friends were escaping the Gwythaints and trying to fight them off. Our heroes did their best to send them off and yet Gurgi ended up getting hurt by one of them and they took off with the cauldron. What’s the cauldron gone, Taran, Eilonwy and Fflewddur check if Gurgi was okay and they felt defeated after seeing that they failed the great wizard by letting the cauldron fall into the wrong hands. Doli even berated them for not getting the job done. But then Taran decided to go after the cauldron hoped to take it back from them.
More of that part in the next part.
Another self-portrait art this year, but in Spring theme (Spring isn’t over yet until the first day of Summer, folks).
This shirt that I was wearing was referenced from the new shirt that I got from Muji (I went to Japan with my mom this May, and it was good). I had a haircut on the beginning of May (before I went to Japan). Though, in this portrait, I think I made this haircut a bit longer than my actual one. Oh well. Enjoy this pic.
Done with drawing pencils, markers, ink pens, watercolors (both opaque watercolors and watercolor pencils), Posca markers, and color pencils. Edited with GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program).
You look really lovely in this picture. Especially with the new haircut you had. It looks good on you.
Here’s part two of the set of storyboards for sequence 8 of “The Black Cauldron”. Here it contains the last part of the first version and the first part of the second version. Here in the former, we see an additional shot of Gurgi watching the capture sadly from up in the trees instead of near the tree. and that was followed by the first image of the part which we will see later.
The rest of the pictures show an alternate version of the part that had Taran and his friends hauling the cauldron out of Morva and into Caer Dallben. But as they were moving it out that was when they encountered the Gwythaints. They got to fight them off and they tried to escape from them by hiding among the roots of a tree.
More of that part to come.
Here is part one of the set of storyboards for sequence eight of the black cauldron. Here, our heroes sitting dejected after finding out that the black cauldron was indestructible. It was then that Doli frustrated and Heber rated the group for making poor decisions and that he left them behind. this was immediately followed by the part that wasn’t in the film: Fflewddur and Gurgi calling the member of the Fair folk names while he left them behind. on a sidenote, the design of Doli in the storyboard did look different from the film so I need to find out why they changed his design. If anyone has any answers, let me know. With that being said, that’s carry on with this post.
We see Taran admitting that it was nothing without his sword, to which Eilonwy said that he is somebody and she believes in him. It’s like in the film except it contains a few bits of missing dialogue like “Thank you, Eilonwy.” And “But I can’t ask you to make any more sacrifices.” plus more of the two falling in love. Had those parts not been cut, it would’ve made their romance a bit more believable.
Then we see the Horned King’s henchmen show up and capture Taran, Eilonwy and Fflewddur along with the cauldron while Gurgi escapes. It had the missing line from Eilonwy that says, “Oh, Taran.” We will see the remainder of this version along with the second version of the sequence in the next part.
Character designs for Robin Hood (1973) by Ken Anderson
Here is the 11th and final part of the set of storyboards for sequence 7/7.1 of the black cauldron. Since our heroes have claimed the cauldron, they had to attempt to destroy it. We see them try to do it by pushing it until it falls down and hit it with sticks and stones. But then the witches appeared, and they told our heroes how to stop the evil powers of the cauldron which involves a living being climbing into it yet, it would never climb out alive. This version also had Taran stating that he and his friends would bring the cauldron to Dallben, for he knows what to do with it. this leads to the witches departing with the words, “The choice was yours. Now the tides of fate are flowing.” and they disappeared, leaving our heroes alone with the cauldron.
And that is all for sequence 7/7.1 of the black cauldron. Stay tuned for storyboard of the next sequence of the film.
Here is part 10 of the set of storyboards for sequence 7/7.1 of the black cauldron and it starts where we left off. Taran, Eilonwy and Fflewddur assumed that the witches were going to give the cauldron to them, but now they found out that the witches would not give anything away for what they were going to do is bargain, trade. This set of storyboard show a different version of our heroes attempts to trade some other things off: Fflewddur with the harp, Eilonwy with her bauble and Gurgi with the apple. however, there are other things that we did not get to see in the previous version of the sequence. There was the inclusion of Taran keeping the sword away from the witches and Orddu wanting to cut Eilonwy’s hair which was shown in one of Mark Davis’s sketches for the film.
Eventually, we got to see Taran give the sword to the witches, and we see how the disappearance of the cottage was portrayed. The film showed the cottage and everything being blown off the ground and into the air. But here, we did see a get, walked around in a way that’s twisting, and turning until they disappeared. and they got the cold that remained standing and with the vines off of it, unlike the film, which has the color rise out of the ground until it is shown to our heroes. Then Taran admitted that without the sword, he was nothing. But then Eilonwy said that he was still somebody. although that part was moved into a later part of the movie. The one part that we will get to later. Since they got the cauldron, though, let’s see how it was done when it comes to their attempts to destroy it.
All of these questions will be answered in the next part.
Here is part nine of the set of storyboards for sequence 7/7.1 of "The Black Cauldron". It begins where the last part left off with Taran revealing who he was to the witches and them revealing their history with Dallben. We now get to see Taran explaining to them the reason why he and his friends want to destroy the Black Cauldron, which is they had to do it so that it would stop the Horned King. This made the witches gasp at the mention of the king and their fear that the cauldron born would return to Prydain. So the Witches had to persuade the boy and his friends to have something else like a sleeping potion or other things they had in their cupboards. But it prompted Taran to use his sword to take them to cut the pots down while insisting that he was only after the Black Cauldron for Dallben's sake. This convinced Orddu to offer the cauldron. Taran and his friends asked the witches if they were willing to obtain the cauldron. This leads to the part that we will see in the next part of the set of storyboards for "The Black Cauldron.
