SSRI ANTIDEPRESSANTS SIDE EFFECTS

Can someone with the means PLEASE do an investigative documentary on SSRI antidepressants.

Someone very close to me with occasional anxiety was told by a Dr. to take these for his anxiety. He took 1 dose each day for 2 days. The third day he was supposed to take it he felt his emotions shot off and then went into a full blown panic attack. He went to another Dr. who told him to STOP taking them. But since then he has had ongoing daily anxiety, worse than before he took the pills. It has been a week since he took those antidepressants and the affects have not worn off. His emotions are still altered and he no longer enjoys the things he use to before taking these meds. And he only took 2 doses!

After witnessing all of this, I read more about SSRIs. And post after post of hundreds of people have had similar or worse experiences. People have committed sui**de after only first having mild anxiety, after taking these. They no longer feel emotions such as joy. They lose all pleasurable intimate feeling. It has HARSH withdrawal affects that the medical society is calling "discontinuation syndrome". What's worse is the side effects are still experienced YEARS after taking them. The Dr. he saw told him nothing about this. All he told him was about indigestion. Most notable medical websites don't express how dangerous these are.

Professional medical organizations need to revise informed consent guidelines and reconsider the status of antidepressants in standards of care for many diagnoses and as the immediate front line treatment for mental illness.

Also, if anyone has suffered similar side effects but has recovered could you please message me. I really need to help my loved one.

I've made some major changes through the lockdown these past 2 years. I have been able to keep mentally stable since last year and without medication. (Approved and monitored by my doctor). I do get sad sometimes but it's a normal process of difficult situations. I no longer concentrate on losing "weight" but losing fat. I've been eating, following a food guide for a woman my age. The progress is slow which is good because it's sustainable. I can look at how I eat and comfortably say "I can eat like this for the rest of my life". The most impactful thing you can do to lose fat is work on your mental health. You will keep restricting and binging if you don't get help. No matter if you've reached your goal or not.

some of y’all need to learn more compassion for adults who are severely mentally ill or disabled… like schizophrenics who still depend on their family members and probably always will have to, autistic people who live in group homes, people with bipolar disorder who attend partial inpatient programs, etc…. people who couldn’t get college degrees, who can’t work. not everyone is like you.

one issue i have with the whole ‘level up’ community is the fascination some people have with ‘being who u want to be’ or ‘not stopping until i have xyz’ in order to achieve a greater self esteem and more confidence. personally, i find self esteem to be almost entirely dependant on acceptance. accepting yourself in your current state - looking at yourself right now, flaws and all - and fully loving yourself. accepting yourself. otherwise you are always chasing this illusion - characteristics and features u don’t actually possess. and then u look at yourself in this present moment, and it simply leads to disappointment. a full acceptance and honouring of yourself as you are is what leads to healthy self esteem and even happiness.💗
