Can getting a tan prevent tooth decay ?
Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins to our health. It has been known to develop strong bones, combat depression and Alzheimer's disease, and even works to prevent certain cancers. And these are just to name a few of its benefits! It's time to add one more notch on its belt. Vitamin D may just work to prevent tooth decay. It has been found that it may help absorb the calcium that our teeth need in order to grow strong and healthy. Here are a few ways to get more vitamin D into your life. Get outside Sunlight is a great way to get a vit-hit because it activates vitamin D creation in the body. Try to catch the sun's rays for about twenty minutes a few times a week, and always wear sunscreen. The sun in the winter isn't going to be as effective, and it isn't the same when you are standing in a window catching sunlight. You'll want actual sun exposure. Sounds like it's time to spend lunch by the pool! Fish There are a few fatty fish out there that can provide you with a pretty good amount of vitamin D. Salmon and trout are both great options. You can make a very healthy meal with these tasty fish, but not all kids are keen on having fish for dinner, so you might want to try making a tuna casserole, or a dish that is easily disguised as something other than healthy. Milk Many of your fortified milks will have vitamin D added to them. Be sure you check the label though. Not all dairy products have vitamin D in them, so you'll want to do your research before you start buying cheeses and yogurts. However, milk is much easier to get your kids to drink than some of the alternatives. Supplements If you find that you aren't getting enough vitamin D through the sun and foods, then you can talk to your doctor about a supplement. This way, you'll still be able to get the proper amount that will help prevent tooth decay. Cereal Not all cereals are good for you, but there are some that do contain vitamin D. Make sure you check the labels for vitamin D—sugary cereal may be a great guilty pleasure at times, but if you're trying to help your teeth, they're definitely not going to work! Eggs Vitamin D can be found in the egg yolk, so if you have been eating egg white omelets, you might be missing out some very important nutrients. Be sure that you monitor how many eggs you eat though, because they do have a lot of cholesterol in them. One large egg, or two small eggs, will give you the correct amount. Visit your dentist Of course when it comes to tooth decay, be sure that you don't just rely on how much vitamin D you get. Make sure that you are brushing, flossing, and making your regular dentists visits and cleanings. This will be the best preventative measure. @thesmileexpert
Kids in Afghanistan throw their exfoliated milk teeth into a rats hole. They pray after throwing the teeth into the rats hole to the rat asking for a stronger teeth like what the rat has☺
Choosing the Right Toothbrush for Your Child – Is A Kids Electric Toothbrush Best? Once again you find yourself in the Oral Health section of the grocery/pharmacy/superstore staring at row upon row of toothbrushes, feeling exasperated and overwhelmed. Which to choose for my child for Deep cleaning teeth? Manual or electric? Plug-in, rechargeable or battery operated? Soft or firm bristles? And of course which cartoon character or super hero? The truth is that there are very few wrong choices here. Beyond the bristles it is all personal – read: your child’s preference. Toothbrush bristles should be soft. Anything harder, or firmer, or stiffer, than that is best reserved for cleaning the grout between the tiles and hard to reach places in your car. There are however a few good tips that we can offer on choosing the right brush. Your brush must have bristles. That means those finger cover cloth brushes for infants are out. Soft bristles will not hurt an infant’s gums or new teeth. An infant chewing on a cloth with your finger in it, will hurt your finger and probably not make their teeth and gums any cleaner. The head of the brush should fit comfortably behind the lower front teeth. This is usually the narrowest and least accessible part of the mouth. If your brush can fit here it can fit anywhere else and therefore can clean everywhere. Powered or manual? You can just as good a job with a manual brush as you can with a powered brush – but it probably takes a good deal more effort. If a powered brush is in your budget and meets with the other criteria on this list you should definitely consider it. Kids electric toothbrush – Rechargeable or Batteries? As is true with most things in life, you get what you pay for. The battery operated brushes are usually $10- $20, the rechargeable or plug in ones start at $40 and go up to $200 or more. The battery ones do little more than vibrate and flash lights but if it makes your child happy it may be all you need and worth the few dollars. The rechargeable brushes tend to have much more power behind them and may be more effective with a similar amount of time and effort. Check out an electric toothbrush review to find the one to best suit your needs. Sounds Lights and Characters. Obviously gimmicks, but if they in any way encourage your child to brush, and let you brush, more often or longer or with less resistance then let gimmickry reign. Timers. Probably my favourite and most useful part of any electric brush. Two minutes can seem like a long time when you have a brush in your mouth or to fight with a struggling child. These timers often with 4 x 30 second intervals to know when to switch corners help combat the “15 second brush” routine. Brush head and neck size. This is probably the biggest advantage of the manual brushes. While all power brushes have to have some components in the head and neck of the brush (some more than others), a manual brush is just bristles on a stick. The thickness of the neck and head (from the tips of the bristles to the “back” of the head) is probably the most over looked dimension of the brush yet it can be the most limiting in terms of place that you are comfortably able to reach. Kids don’t like when you have to move their tongue and cheeks out of the way to get to some tooth surfaces. A slimmer brush design means less pushing other mouth parts out of the way. So don’t be overwhelmed and over budget. Any brush can do a perfectly good job keeping your child’s mouth healthy. Start with soft bristles and choose as you, or your child, wishes from there.

Limit intake of these sugary stuff for a healthy smile
Limit intake of acidic foods that can damage your teeth' enamel. Citrus fruits like lemon contains acids that can erode enamel. A glass of water is better to hydrating yourself than a glass of lemonade.
Add lots of walnuts, cashews, Badams, cheese, yogurt, fish, raw fruits, and vegetables, water as snacks in day to day life than sugary drinks, sweets, candy, fried fast foods.
Add lots of colors, Natural one's in your daily diet. It's equally good for your mouth(teeth & gums) as much as it is for your body. Keep smiling #thesmileexpert #tirupur #smile
