I wish they'd let Wyll be angry, specifically: angry for himself, not just for other people. I wish they'd let him yell at his dad. I wish they'd let the player tell Wyll that it's okay to love your dad but still feel hurt and betrayed by him. Let the guy vent all that pent up negative emotion for goodness sake. Give him a scene or three where Theo Solomon could flex his voice acting skills.

Also y'all this really ties into how impactful comments are and why it's so encouraged to leave comments and leave NICE ones. If I hadn't known this was spam, and if I'd gotten this on my currently-updating fic, it would've crushed me and likely convinced me to never update again. Adversely, even one nice comment from someone is enough to motivate me to write and share more. If you read a fic you liked, tell the author that! If you're reading an unfinished fic, leave a comment to say you're excited for more, or comment throughout chapters even! It really is so easy and quick to do, and it's not only nice but it can also completely alter a writer's motivation and inspiration

Fanfic writers, please be aware that for some reason having bots spam fics with negative comments is a thing now. Not sure what anyone gets out of spreading misery, but just know it's not anything to do with your fic. I got one that was like, "This fic is a delight ... just kidding, it's unfunny and tedious." It was very clearly unrelated to the content of the fic but for someone else it might have been heartbreaking.

what i've heard about this sort of thing is that fics that have been deleted are harder to prove the provenance of, thus making them easier and safer for AI generators to scrape for their data sets

they're trying to encourage you to delete/orphan your fics so you can no longer prove that they're YOURS

coming back to this and I wanted to say that lately if I see a comment this deliberate kind of vague, I assume they’re a bot or a scam.

they don’t give any examples. they don’t give any character names. it’s all this very general thing you could say about any fic. granted, some people are never sure what to say, but I’ve been posting on AO3 for a decade, and in my experience, if they hate your shit, they’re explicit about why. they say to you, politer than this or no, “hey shit for brains you don’t have any idea how to write Steve Rogers”. they don’t say “the character arcs” or anything like this. you’re writing their fave, and you’re (according to them) writing them wrong, and they want you to know specifically that you’re fucking their blorbo up.

kind of a related note, I’ve gotten a few “I’ve read your fic and I’ve got a few ideas that could make it better” comments. granted, I’m less positive that this is a scam and not just something circulating on TikTok or some other corner of a website I haven’t seen before, but those aren’t specific either. very “your fic” and “these characters”.

it sucks for both writer and commenter. it sucks for the commenter who’s been commenting a certain way longer than anybody’s been behaving this way, and it sucks for the writer who loves getting that comment email. but at this point, in my experience, comments that don’t tell you anything except that they don’t like it or they want to improve it are not genuine. so I would just bear that in mind whenever you see a comment even a little bit structured like this.

Hey @sunrae08 just because you block incoming messages or ignore someone, doesn't mean that this is going unnoticed and its certainly doesn't mean what you did is forgotten about or excused... I asked you to remove my image from your post as I never gave you permission to repost it... ignoring me is only going to make this worse... please remove the image from your post.

I don't care if people save my images to look at later or use as their phone wallpaper, but no one has permission to repost my work in any way shape or form... It pretty clear by the watermarks on the other images that you reposted other people's VP as well, and I doubt they gave you permission either...

I don't like having to ask multiple times and I definitely didn't want this to be something I had to make a public post about, but I do not take kindly to being ignored, especially when I have given you a chance to remove it already...

What if wizard!Tav was the apprentice of Morena Dekrios (Gale's mum) but like, after Gale already went off to fuck Mystra and whatnot, so the two never met.

What if, for like the majority of the game, Tav feels like they know Gale somehow but can't place why/how. Then finally, when they meet Tara and she calls Gale, "Mr. Dekarios" IT CLICKS. And Tav suddenly remembers all the stories Morena has told them about her son, and his little baby portraits, etc. Then...

Option 1: Tav uses their knowledge to tease Gale. It starts out as subtle things, like maybe getting him a dessert she knows he liked as a kid. Then gradually getting more obvious that they know shit about Gale -- which at first makes him nervous/anxious. But then Tav confesses and Gale is hit by an immediate wave of understanding, and simultaneously a wave of "......fuck."

Option 2: If they dating, Gale eventually arranges a date for Tav to meet his mum. He's nervous, especially since Tav is acting so nonchalant about something he views as serious as meeting the parents. "It'll be fine, Gale. She'll love me, I'm sure of it." When they arrive and Morena sees them together, she pauses for a moment, looks back and forth between them, and says, "This is who you've been dating?" Gale starts to defend Tav, but Tav jumps in like, "Yeah, I stole him back from Mystra; seemed like the only way we could get him to come to family dinner again." Gale is confused, of course. Tav laughs and explains, then adds, "Told you she'd love me."

Having watched Gale’s ‘Evil Ending’, read a few spicy takes, and thought about it for a bit, I just want to point something out: every time Gale has any interactions with the Heavens/Elysium/The Gods, be it in-game or as an alternate ending, it’s not good for him, and he’s never truly happy.

Of course the Evil ending is the most extreme version with him straight up hating the Gods and waging war, but in addition, there’s also:

Gale having suffered during his time in Elysium as Mystra’s plaything Chosen

Gale becoming God of Ambition, but losing his family/ Tav

Gale becoming God of Ambition and ascending Tav, but him still being insecure/unsatisfied with himself, and possibly destroying the Pantheon

Gale dying from attempting to be a God and failing to dethrone Mystra

Gale dying after following Mystra’s orders to detonate the orb (causing many to suffer if done in Act 2, the very thing Gale NEVER wanted to happen)

Gale becoming Illithid and then being taken to Elysium with Mystra, in a scene which has which has chemistry lower than the Mariana trench and is possibly the unsexiest thing I have ever seen

So, when people say that Gale should forgive Mystra, become her Chosen again (which is spoken about on the docks in the ending where he returns the Crown to Mystra), and that the Evil Ending shows this is a ‘good’ thing…I’m not seeing it.

In contrast, I could talk about the ending where he leaves the Crown in the river, the orb remains in his chest, and how that works out great—he’s not beholden to Mystra, he’s happy and satisfied with himself/Tav/his life which results in the orb being dormant, then later Mystra cures the damn thing permanently anyway, AND he gets to have a cool scar that keeps his students in check, and also definitely lights up when he’s horny for Tav, etc. etc.

But I’m gonna go one step further and talk about what happens when Gale goes to Hell. Yes, Hell. Literal, actual Hell, the farthest place from Heaven, which is what happens when he is romanced by origin Karlach and he goes with her to Avernus.

Remember how every iteration of Gale in Heaven results in him being unhappy in some way? Here’s Gale in Hell with his beloved Karlach:

He is happy as a clam!

Tara visits them frequently!

There’s even a f*cking bookstore!

In Conclusion:

If you want Gale to be truly happy, KEEP HIM AWAY FROM THE GODS.
