So a former riding instructor of mine put up this photo on facebook to talk about the unnecessary use of invasive devices and trainers who should stay far, faaar away from horses. I thought I’d share. Never have I seen so much gear strapped onto one head. Can someone walk me through what even is this shit crowding that poor animal’s face?

Dang that’s a bridle, halter with shank, tounge tie, and that pully divice looks like somesort of twitch contraption; not quite sure what that does though

The thing on his gums above his upper teeth is a hands free lip shank. Lip shanking is the go to in the race industry. Most race barns make their employees lip shank every horse because they can be crazy. It's like the next step above a chain across the nose. It sucks for sure!
