Look, art school was busy, and so is my summertime, but I NEVER forget my Dolts! Thatās my OTP right there!
Anygay, Happy Pride Month! Take some domestic dolts based on an Al Parker illustration I learned about in school a few months ago. Isnāt it so dang sweet?? I adore this posing, and I hope I did the original justice!
Ironically, for someone who has an OC group based on DnD, I havenāt actually gotten to play the game too much! I really struggle when it comes to meeting people Iād want to play with, and I am nowhere near qualified to run my own game.
The two months in high school I did play actually resulted in a MASSIVE falling out with that friend group, but in that short-lived campaign the entire structure of the world was just a mushroom themed Underdark which led to another Underdark (aptly named the Under-Underdark), and we just kept going deeper until we were five layers of Underdark (an Under-Under-Under-Under-Underdark) beneath the surface
So I guess that? But idk Iām hoping to find people to play with now that Iām in college :P
So, do you ever sit back and realize that youāve given your OCs different fragments of your own mental issues, and how their character development is a thinly veiled attempt to manifest a better mindset towards yourself since if they can solve their issues, so can you, and you're not actually broken after all?

Hereās a tiny break from commission-posting with another RWBY ref sheet!
This time itās the weapon of my lovely OC, Kaldera Avant of Team KOHL, whoās based on the idiom āPot Calling the Kettle Blackā
I heard pots and kettles and wanted to make a witch themed character wielding either a broomstick or cauldron-esque weapon, which eventually evolved into Gravitas, a combination pogo stick/rocket launcher Kaldera can swing around with reckless abandon
Itās taken me a WHILE to make a weapon design that feels somewhat adjacent to the show proper, but I think Iāve finally done it, and Iām so happy!! Now, itās onto the rest of my main OC team in hopes to get them all developed enough for ArtFight :)
I was approached by the lovely LocalCipher on Instagram to draw these two characters doing something cute, so here we are!
As you can see, my art styleās a little bit different here, but I donāt hate it! Iām just gonna blame the anatomy and gesture classes Iāve taken recently and keep on keeping on :)

Iām back at it again with some more commissions!
This one was a bit out of my comfort zone, since Iāve only made ref sheets twice before now, and never for someone elseās character, but I got super excited when I heard that this was for a RWBY OC!
I study the RWBY turnaround sheets RELIGIOUSLY so getting to make something in that style was super fun!

I decided to be extremely self-indulgent with it so Iād actually get everything finished in time, so hereās one group of my blorbos debating their relations to another group of my blorbos <3
wow those bellas do be rocking! call me curious but what is the drawing process in getting bellatorās armor to have that delicious 3d appearance?
Howdy!! Thank you so much! Let me try to take a swing at explaining
(Although donāt take this advice word-for-word, this is my first time doing an art tutorial so a few things might sound confusing or be under-explained. Sorry in advance!)
For me, getting armor to look 3D really comes down to knowing simple shapes, perspective, and shading

Bellatorās armor is made up of Rectangles and Diamonds, two simple shapes!
Letās start with the rectangles :D
I want this to be her leg armor, but just pasting a flat rectangle onto her body wonāt look too great. Itāll be flat! Legs curve, so I want the shape thatāll be on her leg to curve as well. It offers more protection that way, too
So here, you bend the 2D rectangle like itās a piece of paper, or like itās made out of foam, and you get some depth! Thatās a 3D object!
Thatās the shape I was looking for. Onto the knight it goes!

Next is the Diamond shape
Again, I want it to cover more of her body, so we arenāt gonna paste a flat shape. For this shoulder armor, the center point of the Diamond should line up with the center of Bellatorās actual arm and shoulder, outlined above. The position of her arm is tilted, and this guideline helps when drawing the 3D shape
We just draw a line up from the center arm line, draw our center point, and can branch out from there to make our Diamond

Lastly is shading!
I really like big blocky shadows, and they can be a huge help in adding depth to your shapes.
A bonus side to the Diamond is that theyāre normally divided up for you into a top side and a bottom side. So I usually just shade the entire bottom half for funsies :3
You can add more shading and highlights should you see fit, btw. Whatever suits your style!

This is a very basic explanation, but hopefully it helped a little bit?
If being at an art college has taught me anything, itās that understanding art fundamentals is so so SO important when it comes to art improvement.
Iād highly recommend looking up some YouTube tutorials on art fundamentals or 3D forms or anything else like that, because those are guaranteed to explain things better than I can!
I had a class project last quarter where weād design two āodd coupleā characters - basically two characters who are total opposites but work together anyway - and I immediately thought of my lovely ladies, Bellator and Belladonna <3
These designs are their current ones, and Iām EXTREMELY happy with them. My professor really liked them too!
I took an Intro to Sequential Arts class this semester, and I ended up making a couple things Iām really proud of! One of which was this comic with two of my RWBY OCs!
These two are Ochre Colt and Hawthorn Conifer from Team KOHL :D
They donāt always get along. But, over time, theyā¦ yeah no they donāt really ever get along.
