i cant stress this enough, disabled people know their own limits. i fucking promise you. we are not being lazy or jerks because we won’t do something YOU want us to do or something YOU THINK will make us feel better. it wont. stop.

#i would posit that many disabled people actually have no idea what our limits are #because we are forced past them so often that we become convinced that we’re just incompetent #for example I can walk in the sense that I can manage about… 10 minutes walking per day total #beyond that I am in agony and probably injuring myself #but I have been trained my entire life to prioritize other people’s interests over my own pain #your body never gets used to pain you know. #but after a while your internal pain management systems can’t keep up #and your survival reflexes kick in causing you to literally stop being able to perceive your pain as pain #instead you begin experiencing it as exhaustion (oh coffee will help) or anxiety (oh ssris will help) or rage (oh sedatives will help) #pain becomes other symptoms over time and the longer you force yourself to live in it #the harder it es to even tell whee you AREN’T hurting #so if a cripple says ‘no I cannot’ #then your first thought should be ‘oh god how many of the steps leading us to here were agony for my friend’ #not ‘lol sure you can bro’
