Hey bulldog
Definitely! Although I will say I like Shere Khan even though he tried to kill Mowgli, lol. Esp. since The Jungle Book was written during (and probably takes place during) British rule of India and the British wiped out a lot of the tiger population by hunting, Shere Khan's dislike of humans makes a lot of sense. I could go more into it, but yea.
I like shere Khan too. I mean obviously yeah he tried to kill Mowgli but like he wasnt wrong for not trusting humans !! Also omg if you wanted to go more into it, esp with British colonialism I would love to hear
I think Shere Khan is also likable because his sentiment towards humans really echoes anti-British sentiments too. The Jungle Book was published after the First Indian War of Independence/Sepoy Mutiny, so it would make sense that Shere Khan, the villain, would dislike humans. Shere Khan is also the only animal to have a human name attached to his, so in a way, he’s almost humanized. I normally would not compare animal characters to humans (esp. when it involves POC) but there are no explicitly British characters in the Jungle Book. Kipling puts the blame on the destruction of the forest and Shere Khan’s hatred of humans on Indians (Mowgli, the villagers, etc.) and doesn’t include any British characters even though they were primarily the ones responsible for devastating the forests.
Kipling was extremely racist, so he probably did it on purpose. The book is the “jungle book” and well, animals live in the jungle. He includes Indian characters because that’s his way of saying “yea, they’re humans, but are they really?” because Mowgli and the animal characters are basically the same. He could have easily made Mowgli a British boy, but he didn’t.

Does anyone know where/how to find some freelance writing jobs?
Remember when Jeff Bezos, who is worth 181 billion USD donated 690k to stopping Australian fires? Yeah, me too.
McKenzie Scott is literally proof that these fuckers can donate HUGE sums of money to EVERYTHING and still live a comfortable life.... But nooO someone HAS to justify the pitifully small donations the richest men on earth make every year for their tax write-off
i really cannot overstate the fact that there’s two separate instances within harry potter canon of asian characters (cho and parvati) being used as Bad Love Interests as opposed to the white women that harry and ron are Supposed to be with

WHITNEY HOUSTON as RACHEL MARRON THE BODYGUARD (1992)
someone on r/legaladvice was sick of their coworker stealing their food out of the fridge so they started labeling it “POISON - DO NOT EAT” in sharpie on both the bag and the food’s wrapper every day and the person still kept stealing it so after a week they added a bunch of laxatives to their food and the thief had to go to the hospital and could possibly sue OP. the general consensus was that OP was technically objectively in the wrong from a legal standpoint but there is 0% chance of them being convicted in criminal court because that would require finding 12 jurors who would rule in favor of someone stealing food labeled “POISON - DO NOT EAT” and then getting poisoned
“Not guilty by reason of fuck that guy.”
