âUm my name is Yte-â You stop yourself, remembering that was not the name you used to deliver your clothes, â-I mean Caithe Stone.â The attendent gave you a weird glance but still typed your name onto his computer before walking into the back and returning with your clothes. âThank you.â You happily paid the man before leaving, your goal complete.
You promtly returned to your apartment via the portal transit system. What you would do without the discovery of magic you wouldnât know. You fiddled with your keys, flipping to one and placing in inside the lock. It was the wrong key. You scoffed and picked up the next key, it worked and your door opened. The apartment looked exactly the same as you left it this morning as you stepped inside. A pot was left on the stove, your coffee table was still littered with papers, and your bedroom door was wide open. You waltzed through the door to free yourself from your lively shackles only to stop and stare at the painting you had hung above your bed. The beautiful landscape it presented brought you sorrow for your loss; though, that is a story for another time.
Skepticism soon filled you, the only logical culprit being your dry cleaning; which, on a second examination, it was definitely not yours. You havenât worn a suit since a middle school play, why do you remember that? Now that you think about it, how did you mistake- you stopped yourself. You would go and return the suit in the morning, but now, you needed sleep. Maybe you could try it on? You scoffed, no, no you shouldnât. A pleasant image of a young man in this suit filled your head. He looked good, not as good as âhimâ but ehh, and he was in your apartment.
Dread filled you, that canât be good. You sighed as you hung your newly aquired dry cleaning on your closet door before replacing your own clothes with their nighttime variant. You climbed into bed soon after, prepared to at least get some sleep before the enevitable. You reached a hand toward the painting that hung above you. âGoodnight.â You whispered to the inaniment object before pulling the covers over your pale frame. Sleep overtook you without much of a second thought; of course, you still dreamt.
You felt a warm presence slip into bed beside you. You know you are dreaming, but he always feels so real. You reached out and pulled him closer, well, more like begged him to come closer. He obliged. You opened your eyes to look at him, his handsomeness transcended words. Describing him would only be robbing his beauty. Though, you could stare into his eyes for hours, and in your dream you could do just that.
Something hit your door, what door? The apparition faded from your grasp bringing you back to your semi-lucid dream state. Oh, your front door.
That one woke you up. You could feel your fear bubble as you lay in a ball, maybe they would let you go if you cooperated? No, for how long you have been running from them they wouldnât let you go. You sat up.
The last hit was followed by a loud snap of your door collapsing. A thunder storm of feet crashed through the adjacent room. Just behind an unlocked door. You fell to your knees and placed your hands behind your head, waiting for your sealed fate. The door opened fast. In barely a second following the open door, a black figure rushed toward you, kicking you onto your face. An actual second later your hands were cuffed on your lower back, your feet tied together, and you mouth gagged. You were actually impressed with his performance; though, the cherry on top was the sweet scent that began to tickle your nose. You felt tired even though you just woke up. Sleep. That wasnât your thought. Sleep. Gods you hated magic. Sleep. You arenât helping... did it go- Sleep god damn you! You passed out.
Only to wake up what seemed like a second later in a holding cell. You heard the din of random people, not in your line of sight. It annoyed you that you couldnât feel them. Huh, you felt like one of your senses was gone. There was also a dead weight on your neck, a collar to be specific. You attempted to remove it, but in the process only made it tighten further around your neck. Sighing with defeat, you laid back down on the uncomfortable bed. No new feeling assisted you. Strange, this blindness you felt was a bit comforting. Maybe now they would let you see your daughter.
