You know what would be funny?
You and Philippe thinking that your daughter is going to be the only child you'll ever have. You both tried for years to give her a little sibling, tried everything but IVF was excruciating for you to deal with so you stopped.
You both get careless about safe sex and one day suddenly get sick. You brush it off but day after day you keep getting sick and Philippe is getting worried something is seriously wrong.
You take a pregnancy test and it comes back positive. You wait to tell Philippe until you're absolutely sure that this pregnancy is going to stick and it does!
Philippe flips out (in a good way), picking you up and spinning you around. He's over the moon when you tell him. He's nervous but so excited.
You both sit your daughter down one day once your a couple months along and explain that her wish of being a big sister is going to happen in a few months.
Girlie is stoked to have a baby sibling that she immediately wants to tell her uncle Beau and her "cousins" (the grunts) that she's going to be the best big sister ever!
Philippe takes you and her to the syndicate a couple days later and those who see her shirt damn near keel over from shock (she was wearing a '#1 big sister' shirt). All the grunts just stare at each other because they don't believe they read Girlie's shirt correctly and think that it must be a shared hallucination, right?
Corbeau sees her shirt and immediately knows what's up and congratulates all three of you on the upcoming baby (he tells you and Philippe privately that while he's happy for you both, he's not changing any diapers).
The betting pool starts back up immediately.
Oh my godddd that is so cute, the way Philippe would be so happy to have his family grow with you. To be able to give your daughter a little sibling like she always wanted oh my god. He’d fall asleep with his hand protectively over your bump every night, talking to the baby and telling them how much they’re loved.
I can see the grunts coming together to throw you both a beautiful baby shower, all of them so eager to show their support and spoil you. Corbeau would pretend not to know about it but in truth he was the one who organised it. You can also tell that he’s a little misty eyed when you tell him, he’s so happy for you and Philippe, he gives you both the tightest hug.
When new baby finally arrives, I imagine Philippe would be even more overjoyed. Just beaming all the time, the world’s proudest papa bear. You’d both introduce the new baby to your daughter and she’d be a little confused (“but why are they so… wrinkly?”) but incredibly happy nonetheless.
