The evening's first proper game of test of honour is ready to begin!
Some goodies arrived today! Some metal samurai warriors from Perry miniatures that will act asy command models for test of honour, and a couple of ttcombat terrain elements; a Temizuya (a place where temple visitors would 'cleanse' themselves before they entered), and some Hokora which were generally found on country paths or roads where travellers could do a bit of worshipping on the move. They should paint up a treat and add a bit more to my Asian themed board!
Cheap Chinese trees, removing the shitty sponge flock then a bit of trimming to make the shape of a cherry blossom tree...just waiting on flock to arrive! My fingertips were green for a while...
More test of honour wip's. Pretty much table ready aside from basing but I'm waiting on flock!
Bit more progress on my pig sty. Made use of a box from my Germans and some packing sponge from the test of honour box and made a little scratch built pen for the piggies. Should look decent enough when it's textured and painted up.
Done a bit of work today on a pig sty, should be able to use it in multiple settings so I'll need to consider the type of building to add in the top right corner... probably just a wooden shack of sorts. I'll be filling the inside with some caulk for mud and flocking the outside of it, I also need a farmer model from somewhere.
Tonight's progress on my ashigaru bowmen; basecoated and shaded. A few quick highlights and they will be table ready!
Made a start on my ashigaru bowmen, working on two forces using the colour schemes above as a guide.
Finally got started on my test of honour boxed set; a couple of units of archers and two veteran sergeants to lead them. Hopefully get a start on the ashigaru yari tomorrow while leaving the samurai warriors themselves to last.
The to-do list for 2018
It's ambitious I'll grant you, but this is the current total of my unpainted hordes and pretty much my aim for this year's painting. I don't want/need to buy any more figures if I can help it, and I've got a few boardgames now to distract me from new shinys...

Had a little trial run of shadespire this evening after a few days of reading rules and painting. Pretty straightforward system, I like the card mechanic. Just need to convince the wife to give it a go...
Hey, I see you playing historical war games. Have you seen Blood & Plunder? It's a pretty cool game
Yeah, I've seen it but not had a game yet. In not sure anyone in my wargames club plays it either which never helps!
My other WIP for this evening, some khorne dudes for shadespire.
Stormcast eternals WIP for shadespire. Trying out lighting techniques. Want them to appear to be statues come to life.
Necromunda!! Games workshop killing it these days! Not sure on the new rules yet, but the models are amazing!
What a year! I didnāt get a tremendous amount of games in this year, perhaps not even double figures. If memory serves I played a few games of Age of Sigmar, 40k 8th edition, some zombicide black plague, some x-wing and not a lot else. Painting-wise I did pretty good. I painted all 70-odd figures from warhammer spire of dawn, Iāve pretty much completed 123 night goblins and 20 spider riders. I painted a few Afghan modern 20mm, and I spent quite a lot of time sculpting bases and terrain elements for my latest ventureĀ convergemodels.co.ukĀ which in hoping to get further with in 2018. Goals for 2018: I want to finish all of my Age of Sigmar models by the end of February, my necromunda gangs by April, and I want/need to get back to my 28mm french Napoleonic infantry and cavalry. I also have a bunch of pike and shotte models for pikemans lament, and the samurai game test of honour to paint up/try out.Ā I really want to get back to my game club on Mondays, hopefully every 2nd or 3rd week, and ideally the last Sunday of the month. We shall seeā¦
Assembly complete on the winter Germans!can't wait to get some paint on these guys!
