Something is on his mind

He knows it isn't working. He knows he may be a fool. He doesn't care though. He tries anyway. Should he continue? I don't think so personally, but others have thought differently. Maybe he's on to something? Maybe there's still hope? Maybe something good can come out of all the nonsense and the bull shit... so he tries anyway. Above all else he goes after his goals, his ambitions. His desire to achieve that goal can be dangerous for him, and it could even tear his life apart if he's not careful. But with dedication in his heart, he pursues it without the thought of failure crossing his mind. Even in defeat, he is humble. He understands that he gave it his best, and sometimes even that can be struck down. We should follow by example from him, because he has the dedication and the motivation that we all need. In this there is a certain type of power that can keep anyone strong.

It's in our nature to seek out ways to alter our thoughts and perceptions. Is it because we are unsatisfied with life? I don't think so. I think, when it comes down to it, humans are just curious.

Ghosts and Daemons

Have you ever run into a ghost from your past? Someone who once had significance in your life? Depending on what the terms were when you last saw them it could be a very bitter sweet reunion or an awkward moment you would prefer to escape from. An example? A former lover. One that ended not with a bang, but a whisper. To see this woman at a random location on a random day was an interesting event, and if any of you have had something similar happen to you then you know that a part of you wants to do something about it but the other half holds you back. It keeps you from exploring any possibilities of exploring your past, but why? Out of fear? Or self loathing? I'm not too sure. Maybe we all should start to abandon our self restrictions and just start to take risks...

Don't become a Zealot

Don't become disillusioned with your own beliefs, and abandon your rationale. I have seen it before... they start by finding meaning in a higher power but become so wrapped up with their beliefs that who they are inside evaporates into nonexistence. To put it into perspective: during the black plague a group of zealots known as "The Flagellant" believed they could escape death by showing christ that they were devout followers. They would cause damage to their own bodies by whipping themselves and mortifying their own skin.

My point being: nothing can save you except for yourself.

Oxycodone. Vicodin. Methylphenidate. We have it all. I'm sitting here staring at these little bottles. If I was a weaker man I may be dead right now... but I'm leaving that part of me behind. I made a promise, and it's one that I intend to keep.
