coming back to this to say this is also why i dont headcanon xehanort as aromantic despite everything -- i think it's much more interesting to have a villain who does feel romantic attraction but it does nothing in terms of making him a better person. meanwhile aromantics, who are usually demonized as being heartless (ha) and inhuman, have representation in one of the most loving and caring heroes in games.

Most allos put potential romantic partners above platonic ones. Meanwhile Sora puts everyone on the same level of importance. He views his relationship to Riku and Kairi as equal (regardless of which one you consider romantic-coded and which one you consider platonic-coded). There’s no distinction to him.

As for Xehanort….i mean tbf Eraqus is right there. I’m not saying they’re gay but it does give off divorced couple vibes.
