REVERSE TROPE WRITING PROMPTS
Too many beds
Accidentally kidnapping a mafia boss
Really nice guy who hates only you
Academic rivals except itâs two teachers who compete to have the best class
Divorce of convenience
Too much communication
True hateâs kiss (only kissing your enemy can break a curse)
Dating your enemyâs sibling
Lovers to enemies
Hate at first sight
Love triangle where the two love interests get together instead
Fake amnesia
Soulmates who are fated to kill each other
Strangers to enemies
Instead of fake dating, everyone is convinced that you arenât actually dating
Too hot to cuddle
Love interest CEO is a himbo/bimbo who runs their company into the ground
Nursing home au
I'm actually using the too many beds & academic rival teachers tropes already but that fake amnesia one sounds cool (although it sorta reminds me of Alvar Vacker...)
To all the writers who doubt themselves or their writingâyou are just as capable of writing something extraordinary.
Trust that your ideas are worth investing in.
Whatâs writing, you know? What does writing actually mean?
For any writers:Â http://er.jsc.nasa.gov/seh/SFTerms.html

@space-australians Feels like this would kinda fit your blog, specially for writers who want to make up weird human space shenanigans involving a ship and alien crew and what not. Â Maybe someone can write about how a person fixed a specific part in the dumbest way possible using the right words XD
Guys, NASA is cool.
If you scroll to the bottom of the page, they have a whole list of articles and pages to help sci-fi writers. NASA is the best!Â
characters will literally get a headache or nosebleed out of nowhere and be like "huh. weird. well it's probably nothing." girl, look around you. you're in a story. it's relevant to the plot.
one of my favorite story elements is "character way past their prime can still absolutely wreck you, leaving you to wonder just how powerful they used to be"
TO THOSE MAKING NATIVE OCS
I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.
Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.
However, Iâve got your solution.
Native-Languages  is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If youâre unsure about the names youâve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!
Please donât trust names like babynames.com for native names, theyâre made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.
This is your friendly reminder that the last few years have been hard, and if your writing has taken a toll as a result, that doesnât make you any less of a writer. Maybe you went on hiatus. Maybe you got burnout. Maybe life gave you shit and other things took priority. It doesnât matter. Writing is hard, so when life is hard, you might end up slacking in the writing department. And thatâs okay. Thereâs no rule that says you have to write even when life is shitting on you. Youâre allowed to take a break, and you can start writing again when you feel ready.
Best trick I ever picked up. Seriously.
I have also learned this is great for [PICK A COOL NAME FOR A SHIP] and [LOOK UP THE FACTS ABOUT OXYGEN LEVELS] and [WHATâS THE WORD] and [DOUBLECHECK CHARACTERâS EYE COLOR] and ALL KINDS OF THINGS.
Anything that isnât critical in the moment, and could be filled in later while Iâm currently trying to burn through writing pages that will be lost if I donât get them out right now? Brackets.
This is seriously the best advice, and it really helps put it into perspective that the first draft is just that- a draft. Thereâs no reason to agonize over a particularly tricky bit of writing when you could just leave it in brackets and skip to the good parts, the parts youâve visualized. I also use brackets for [fact-check this], [use a stronger verb], [is this in character?] and other notes as I write, just so I donât forget what I want to work on when I go back and edit.Â
This works for academic writing too. If you know where youâre going just leave yourself notes to fill in later. I do this all the time,
The creature that wants to kill you will not growl.
The function of a growl is as a warning. It is a communication that violence is available as a tool, but is not preferred. Other outcomes, besides your death, are available and should be considered.
But the creature that wants to kill you will not growl.
If your death is the goal, then growling will only serve as a delay and may result in your escape, which runs counter to the goal. There will be no growl, no warning. There will be no snarl or hiss or bluster. The creature that bares its teeth with the intent to kill only does so to bring closer its fangs to your demise.
The creature that growls does not want to kill you, but will if it must.
I advise you to appreciate the warning. You may not receive another.
#writing#Iâm way more terrified of an animal looking at me the way I look at baklava than I am of growling and snarling#grace makes art
so glad i checked the tags on this one
âmy characters deserve a breakâ I say as I make things even worse for them
creative writingâs just like yeah sure i can deal with my issues i just need to cover them in several layers of metaphors first
touch depression? with my bare hands? no hang on *invents a character* this will be my gloves
Girl, are you okay, you haven't even tortured your little fictional characters today
