I reread the riddle of ages recently and oh my flipping goodness i love this book

sure, it destroyed a few of my personal headcanons but still there's a lot to make up for it

Kate giving her friends little platonic kisses? my heart exploded

Tai being written like an actual, real life 5yrold? perfect

The soft, sweet, just-like-how-i-pictured-it illustrations? beautiful

Queer rep? (even though not super noticeable) amazing

Emo Constance? yes

Explanations of the older three's plan and previous events being gradually laid throughout the story instead of told right away? fantastic

Getting to see/hear what happened to beloved side characters (John, Violet, S.Q., Rhonda, Captain Noland, Cannonball, Madge, etc.) instead of just having them be forgotten? I can't express how happy I am at this one

The angst and affection and accurate adolescent problems that actually tied into and supported the plot and characters without feeling like extra? magnifique

Reynie really struggling with his role as "leader" within the society, that not only affected him but the other members too? wow

The little end-of-the-story party wrapping up all little loose ends but also leaving space for more? couldn't not smile while reading it

there's so much more I enjoyed about it but these are the points I feel like required the most attention
