"You lot, superheroes? No offence, but in what kind of fucked-up world would that be allowed to happen?"
– misfits, season one "episode one" | dir. tom green
Two immortals played by Robert Sheehan that have terrible coping mechanisms

the most insidious of emotions
I hope y'all have been paying attention to your proper nouns because they're all making a comeback this episode.
This is actually, by my reckoning, the fourth time we've encountered Elric Capital and its projects.
In episode 35: Terms and Conditions, Terrance Menke "the Bonzo Butcher" is about to be remanded to the Elric Rehabilitation Initiative.
In the immediate next episode, Elric Capital Ltd. is mentioned as a lead financial backer for the Booth startup - that video conference box that trapped its product reviewer. Consequently, this means that amongst the product's "concerns and delays" is that someone's ear got ripped off. The names of the project leads, [Lila] Bailey and [Chris] Chavez, show up in both places; I have to wonder if it was one of theirs.
Though episode 13: Futures doesn't mention Elric Capital explicitly, the board discusses that episode's app, Zorrotrade, as a previous investment. It seems they were successful in scrubbing their name from the venture.
Finally, you may recall that all the way back in episode 1, we hear the story of a grieving Harriet Winstead, who had paid some sketchy service to hear her departed Arthur again and was met with "some of him". If that wasn't enough of a giveaway, "Adam" says that Arthur Winstead was one of the names he had taken.
In the interest of being thorough, I dug for the other names Adam gave, as well as all of the mentioned board members, anywhere I could. The closest to any matches I could make were that the surname Mitchell (one of the council members) appears twice in the Magnus Institute test subject spreadsheet from the ARG, as does the surname Brown (one of Adam's identities), but that's pretty tenuous. Sadly, I couldn't find traces of Dr. Augustine in any other episode; I'd thought they might be one of the doctors or alchemists we've seen elsewhere.

The year is 2056. The 30th doctor is David Tennant. He took over from David Tennant. His companion is played by David Tennant. The villain is David Tennant as David Tennant. The showrunner is David Tennant. You hear a knock on the door. It's David Tennant. He gives you a pocket watch. You open it and remember who you are. You were David Tennant all along.

has anyone done an Everything Stays from SU x The Girl Who Waited edit…. s6e10 in the garden sparked that song in my brain
what if the casements are providing the elements for the alchemical balancing, so they classify to catalogue what elements are being created by the externals and monitor the balance which is why they send out jobs for externals to create certain elements of fear/desire to keep things in balance
like in ep 19 when Colin is ranting about ‘too much of this and that happens or too much of that and this happens’ they’re balancing it out by forcing certain horrors.
motivation besides keeping things in balance is unknown, but seeing as gwen just got lena fired, i’m sure this balance will be thrown out of wack causing horrors to ensue real bad
Okay! So i slept on it and i am convinced
Office of Incident Assessment and Response
Incident: Natural fear shit
Assessment: Categorizing the casements to determine their alchemical components
Response: Sending externals of a certain type to create artificial fear shit to balance the natural.
If Gwen tries to continue what Lena has been doing by sending externals with no knowledge of what alchemical component it’ll send one element into unbalance and cause some fear repercussion and if she decides to not send more externals bc she doesn’t wanna cause all those crimes it’ll still end up being unbalanced bc they’re not creating the fabricated fear.
The protocol is maybe? For them to be in control of the balance. The Augustus statements about the protocol talk about an advancement that would cause a major unbalance. Something that if created or continued would change the way things were and become potentially unmanageable by those writing. This matches the magnus archives being burnt down (first thought to be gertrude succeeding) but probably the protocol being enacted due to their experiments being too unbalancing or just because the OIAR couldn’t control them.
Loose ends: Sam gone, will this be the unbalancing factor? Or was it the end of TMA causing a major unbalance and the increased caseload and fr3-d1. Did the archivist and sam going through create another unbalance because it was two instead of one?
Also maybe fr3-di is very sentient and is actually the balancing factor. Like it is what gets fed to balance the universe, so that’s why IT never lasts.
