Hobie Brown would be a corvid. Specifically, a carrion crow.
Not because he’s “dangerous” or “mean” or “edgy” or anything. It’s because crows are oftentimes stereotyped as intimidating, forces of evil who are always the pets of villains or antagonists who carry doom and stuff (similar to how Miles- and, let’s be honest, a lot of the audience- thought Hobie was gonna be made to be a stereotypical “mean punk who contends for the girl and who hates the protagonist”), but they’re actually really chill. Like, most who studied crows or has an understanding of their behavior (or even just googled some further info about crows) know that they’re actually really smart. Despite everyone’s assumptions, they’re chill and pretty friendly as long as you aren’t an ass to them, bringing gifts to people who help them and being fairly clever and chill (once again, similar to how Hobie and how he turns out to be a really nice dude and is also one of the most helpful people to miles).
