Did You Know? The Mandalorian
Hey Star Wars fans, everyone on the ânet is raving about the hit new Disney Plus program âThe Mandalorian,â but there are some tantalizing secrets that only the most epic of superfans know. Join me as I âblast offâ in to the lore of this fantastic television show.Â
Did you know? Mandalorian co-creator Taika Waititi has confirmed that the show was inspired by the Western genre of old, movies focusing on the famous âcow boysâ of the Wild West. It is unknown where exactly the real âWild Westâ was, but what IS known is that The Mandalorian is based on the film âThe Man With No Name.â
This clever reference can be decoded from two clues within the show. Firstly, the titular Mandalorian is a man (1) without a name (2). This reference is further supported by the showâs title, which starts with the same six letters as The Man With No Name. These letters are âT,â âH,â âE,â âM,â âA,â and âN.â These six letters combined with Mandyâs lack of a name prove it! The rest of the letters in title was cleverly altered to keep the secret safe.
But what about the rest of those letters? It is believed that the âDalorianâ in the showâs title is a reference to the time-traveling super car from the hit 1990s film âBack To The Future,â in which the rascally Doctor Martin McFly travels through time and space to change the past and the future.
This theory is further supported by the recently-released final episode of The Mandalorian, in which the lovable Baby Yoda is sent backwards in time to keep him safe from the clutches of the evil Empire. From the past, Baby Yoda grows up in to the lovable Jedi Master, Yoda, from the original trilogy of Star Wars Films!
Thatâs all the time we have for today, fellow Trekkers. See you next time⌠in hyper space!
