Kind of gives you chills .
Good Lord, how delicious! I wanna do that! The next time I’m in a cathedral, I’m doing it.
As she stood inside an ancient and empty church in Montefrío, Spain, Malinda Kathleen Reese belted out one of the best Christmas carols of all time-“O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and the end result was just heavenly.
I’m obsessed with this because A. Victorian Christmas Carols B. European Cathedrals C. It’s gorgeous and fuckin choristers are my favorite
You know what I think is really cool about language (English in this case)? It’s the way you can express “I don’t know” without opening your mouth. All you have to do is hum a low note, a high note, then another lower note. The same goes for yes and no. Does anyone know what this is called?
These are called vocables, a form of non-lexical utterance - that is, wordlike sounds that aren’t strictly words, have flexible meaning depending on context, and reflect the speakers emotional reaction to the context rather than stating something specific. They also include uh-oh! (that’s not good!), uh-huh and mm-hmm (yes), uhn-uhn (no), huh? (what?), huh… (oh, I see…), hmmn… (I wonder… / maybe…), awww! (that’s cute!), aww… (darn it…), um? (excuse me; that doesn’t seem right?), ugh and guh (expressions of alarm, disgust, or sympathy toward somebody else’s displeasure or distress), etc.
Every natural human language has at least a few vocables in it, and filler words like “um” and “erm” are also part of this overall class of utterances. Technically “vocable” itself refers to a wider category of utterances, but these types of sounds are the ones most frequently being referred to, when the word is used.
Reblog if u just hummed all of these out loud as you read them
Shark baby
I’m laughing so hard look at this lil bby he’s the happiest mf on earth life is gorgeous
A Beauty and the Beast AU where Belle realizing she loves Beast isn’t at some dramatic climactic event but during some randome everyday moment. Like, she’s filing her nails and just kinda glances up at him and he’s like doing something just as dull and it just kinda dawns on her that she loves him but she doesn’t voice it cause she isn’t exactly ready to confront thoes emotions and what they mean so she goes back to filing her nails but then is starts raining glitter and Beast is defying gravity in a glowing ball of light and the castle is changing back and everyone becomes human again. Then everyone is left in silent moment of shock and confusion and Belle, being completely unaware of what it takes to break the curse, is just staring around in horror while everyone freshly humanized comes running into whatever room she and Beast were in (probably the library) expecting to see something other than human Beast in a heap on the ground and Belle across the room in a chair frozen in shock and confusion and everyone just kinda looks at each other for a couple of seconds not realy sure what to say cause nobody is entirely sure what happened other than the curse was broken. Then Beast finaly gets up and looks around and realizes what this means and looks at Belle and is just like “you love me?” And Belle is just like “wat?”
ALTERNATELY: Belle falls in love slowly. As a result, Beast turns back into a human slowly. She overhears him singing in the shower (it’s amazing how old pipes echo) and realizes it’s that song she was trying to teach herself on the piano (okay, that the piano was teaching her). It’s sweet and mundane, and lovely. Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Beast is humming nervously as he looks at the fur clogging the drain. He thought at least he’d be free of male pattern balding since he’s cursed! Later, Belle gets a cold, and Beast brings her soup and sandwiches, and she curses at him because how dare he have such a hearty immune system, and he chuckles and leaves it. After he’s gone, she notices he cut the grilled cheese on the diagonal, crusts off, exactly right. Beast, downstairs, trips and falls, because the sudden lack of toe-claws threw off his balance.
And so on and so forth, so slowly she doesn’t really see it, she just assumes her memories were colored by her fear. Until one day, as he goes out to tend his roses, she yells “Bye, love you!” and when he comes back in, all excited, she nearly beans him with an encyclopedia, because “WHAT THE FUCK, WHO ARE YOU?” and Beast is just “You seriously didn’t notice me turning back into a human? You are so smart… and SO DUMB, I BEEN NEARLY DYING EVERY TIME, WHY DO I LOVE YOU, YOU BEAUTIFUL DISASTER WOMAN!”
And Belle goes “…what?”
I love both these ideas
Ship, would you like to see a RIDICULOUSLY tiny origami swan I made the other day? I showed it off to my friends and one of em pointed out that you might find amusement in it when I started talking about your pinup Minotaur in an effort to make me change the topic lmao
Dhdhsgf yes! I’d love to see your tiny origami swan.
I have a hard time with origami because every time I see it just sitting around on a shelf or a table or something I have this instinctive urge to just take it. Grab it and add it to my inventory, like in a video game. Origami just seems like it might be useful a few levels in the future.
how can i hold all these origami swans and broken pipes
Here she is!!! The tiniest I’ve made yet.
I showed my mother and she made the most exasperated face and showed it to my grandmother like “look at what this girl does all day.” even though this only took like, ten minutes tops. I guess she’s just used to my shenanigans though. My grandmother, however, was suitably impressed and marveled at it for a whole three minutes.
WHAT?!
When you said “tiny origami swan” I imagined something the size of a penny. I did not imagine microscopic.
I really don’t know how on earth I get them so small. I don’t even use tweezers like you might expect, just my fingers. I guess part of why I can do this is because making swans is a very intuitive motion for me, as I did once make a swan army when I was like, 12 (which already sounds bad) that was comprised of—and I shit you not—over 300 swans. I had lots of practice! I do have some slightly larger examples, like this one,
Orrrrr this one,
Which is almost the vague penny-size you expected lol. I usually make these as (literally) small gifts for my friends. John is especially enthused by them, and keeps two of them in his phone case. I’m glad you’re amused by them!!
Watch out. This is the kind of innate talent that faeries in folktales are always kidnapping humans for. Fairyland has plenty of artists and poets and musicians but I bet they don’t have many Impossibly Tiny Paper Swans.
why test on animals when there are prisons full of rapists
bold of you to assume rapists actually go to prison

you’re telling me there are people who listen to music and DON’T use it as the soundtrack for the intense cinematic daydream plot they’ve always got playing in the back of their head???
Pawttery (via thegatheringinrogers)
He’s helping.
I’m a cat enthusiast and i can tell you, the kitty is actually trying to help! (or just trying to figure out what humane is doing by also touching it)
Cats like to mimic what other members if their cat groups are doing. In human enviroments, this translates to cats following humans (who they see as part of their group) and trying to mimic activities they are doing.
Human sits on couch? Cat sit with them! Human reading or on their computer? Cat go after human and sprawl over them or the keyboard because cat do the same! Human eating? Cat also want eat! Human touch spining clay and make weird shapes? Cat also do that! Cat help!
How the media depicts the Apollo 11 mission:
Actual quotes from the Apollo 11 mission:
also according to michael collins when the three of them were discussing what neil armstrong should say when he first stepped on the moon, collins suggested armstrong say “Oh, my God, what is that thing?” and then scream and cut out his mic.
all you’ve done is convince me that michael collins was one of the funniest men alive tbh
OKAY DEMIGODS, WAKE UP!! IT’S HERE!! IT’S FREAKIN HAPPENINGGG 😭😭
Grandest Opening
