Hi all! Welcome to my Beauty Obsession Blog! Here you will find beauty reviews, makeup tips and tricks, and more. About me: I'm just a girl in her twenties who loves makeup, and just about anything girly. I'm by no means a makeup expert. In fact, I'm here to learn better application tips and to learn about new products myself. But considering how much makeup I buy, and samples I get for free I'd like to think I have a thing or two to say about some of our favorite brands! So... Shall we get started?

My July Topbox unveiling.

Total Value $17 CDN. Box costs $13.44 after shipping and taxes and everything.

This is the lowest value box I’ve gotten so far... It is still worth more than what it cost me, however.

I got: 

Revlon Professional UniqOne All in One Hair Treatment - It smells nice but is maybe too potent. Didn’t notice that it did anything for my hair though.

Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate - Felt nice and lightweight on my skin but we’ll see if it does anything for me. It had great reviews.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer - This stuff is great under the brow for highlighting. I wouldn’t use it anywhere else on my face because it’s intense!

St.Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body Medium/Dark - I haven’t used this yet but I really like their gradual face tan lotion... A lot. So I’m excited to try this! Probably my favourite thing in the box.

5/5 - Formula X Power Source Nail Color

I really like this brand of nail color! I got it in my Ipsy bag. One coat was all I needed and chipping was minimal. It went on thick and was easy to spread evenly because of this. It dried fast too. I will definitely purchase this brand of nail polish over most others!

This is boscia Intensifying Moisture Pack +

I love this moisturiser. I prefer to only use it at night, however. Though it is not super heavy, it isn’t super light. It’s a good night cream and feels so good on the skin. I dilute it a bit (as I do with most of my creams) with a dab of aloe vera. It’s very soft and non-greasy. It does not have the best scent (a bit clincal) but I can get past that. I give this one a 3/5.

This is Glamglow’s THIRSTYCLEANSE Daily hydrating cleanser.

This product is applied to a dry face in mud form, after being spread about you get your hands a bit wet and get a lather going on your face. It has a super luxurious feel and it left my face feeling very clean and fresh. I have fairly sensitive skin and this product felt super gentle. 4/5, only because I prefer a bit of exfoliation!

MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Enriched Moisturising Facebase.

This one gets a 5/5 for sure!

I can’t decide weather my favourite thing about this day cream is the heavenly citrus scent, or the silkiness on my skin. It’s a fairly lightweight cream that goes on like silk, smells amazing, and moisturises well without being to heavy pre-makeup application. It is also supposed to work a bit as a primer, which I can understand because it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave an oily film.

I got this item in my May Topbox (which is a great value monthly cosmetics subscription that allows you to try new things!) and it makes the $10 I spent worth it for this product alone!!

In this photo I am wearing:

Clinique Chubby stick moisturising lip colour balm in “whoppin’ watermelon”. I love this product. It is so smooth and moisturising, but it does leave more colour than most tinted balms. This photo doesn’t do it justice... But anyhow, hours later without a reapplication my lips are still a cute pink and feeling soft and moist. 5/5 for sure!

stila set and illuminate baked powder trio. I don’t use this all over my face as I don’t like too much shimmer, but I do use it as a highlighter and it does an alright job. The twist to release product mixes the three colors but makes it easy to get the right amount of product. I got this on sale so I don’t really mind that it isn’t the best highlighter. This gets a 2.5/5.

eyeko Black Magic mascara. This company is new to me, so I was excited to try this mascara. In the photo you can see it applied with two coats. I love the lengthening effect it has. It does lengthen more than it does thicken. It holds up pretty well throughout the day. 4/5

I am also wearing the benefit browzings which I’ve previously reviewed (5/5) and the blush from my “Naked on the Run” set that I will do a whole review on shortly. Stay tuned!

Okay.... First off. Apparently I suck at taking selfies! I’ll have to work on that.

Here, I am sporting the tarte Lipsurgence lip tint, In the shade “Moody” which is a deep berry color. Full size retails for $29 CDN. 

This Lip tint is amazing in my opinion. It goes on like silk! It’s so smooth and moisturizing. The color really shows, it’s easy to layer and you don’t need to reapply it often, however when you do it’s just like a lip balm so it feels so right!

This product is infused with peppermint, giving your lips a slight plump when applied. I can’t wait to try the other colors!

First I’ll start by telling you a bit about myself. I am 27 years old, I live in British Columbia, Canada (It’s gorgeous here!) and I’ve been using all types of beauty products since I was a young teenager. I’ve developed quite a taste for high end products and find that a lot of the time spending the extra money gets you a much better product -- but not always! I’ll be reviewing all types of beauty products with a focus on the top, high-end brands such as benefit, tarte, Kat Von D, Urban Decay, Clinique.... Well, you name it. 

I will start by reviewing my current products, of which the list is practically endless because I tend to buy value sets and get a lot of freebies and samples along the way.

5/5 This "Browzings" palate by Benefit Cosmetics is by far the best thing I've ever used on my brows. It's $35 CND before tax. Though it seems steep, it lasts much longer than a pencil, and ends up saving you money in the long run. Plus, the quality of this brow stuff by far excedes any pencil I've tried.
