It's hard to believe, but it gets even worse when you learn the whole story.

Chelsea Manning is facing indefinite solitary confinement for sweeping some food onto the floor, owning toothpaste past its expiration date, and possessing political and LGBTQ books and magazines. The list of confiscated reading material includes issues of Transgender Studies Quarterly, The Advocate, OUT, Hacker, Hoaxer, Whistleblower, Spy: The Many Faces of Anonymous by Gabriella Coleman, I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai, trans author Casey Plett’s A Safe Girl to Love, and the well-known issue of Vanity Fair featuring Caitlyn Jenner.

Chelsea is also reportedly being denied access to the prison’s legal library - prisons in the United States are required to have legal libraries in order to satisfy the constitutional right to meaningful access to the courts.

The charges being brought against Chelsea Manning are unjust and the way she is being treated is inhumane and unconscionable. You can help by signing or sharing the petition created by Fight For The Future.

I was watching the Stonewall Uprising documentary and the name Marsha P. Johnson was not mentioned once considering she was a leader of the 1969 Stonewall Riots. So I felt like posting these Polaroids of her taken by Andy Warhol to show remembrance of her as the significant trailblazer that she was in making the Stonewall Riots happen. It’ll be 46 years since the riots on June the 28th and 45 years since the first gay pride march took place in New York City as a result of the Stonewall Riots. Thank you Marsha. RIP.

so i actually have johanna basford’s coloring book! it’s great. i got it when i was working as an advocate at a domestic violence shelter, and was (still is) part of my self-care regimen. i highly recommend getting yourself some sakura gelly roll pens and color! you may find it soothing and calming, and meditative.
