Okokok with the wonderful knowledge that Argyle is also a band kid, @thismachinekillsdragons and I spent like two hours figuring out who would play what in a marching band au.

Robin is still trumpet obviously

I saw someone say that Argyle has big trombone energy and they're RIGHT.

Nancy would be drum major, but regularly is a flute

Eddie would be on drum line, since he probably couldn't play guitar.

Jon was a hot topic of debate (aka we both forgot what instruments were in marching band) but eventually we settled on saxaphone

And last but not least Steve would be color guard.

(And we threw around Chrissy doing color guard and cheer, but her doing cheer and just making friends with the band in the stand at shows is also a really cute idea.

Also also, Barb was clarinet.)

If you have other ideas of what they'd play I want to hear it.

#having never even seen a marching band i was under qualified to help with this. did ya'll know the marching bands had pits? i did not.

there’s this rush and this pressure, sometimes, for huge, mind-blowing numbers on ao3. thousands of kudos and comments and ppl obsessing over ratios, but like - there’s something so incredibly wonderful about, idk, even ten kudos. ten? you mean ten people, TEN total strangers, found something I wrote and clicked on it and read it and liked it? ten comments: you mean ten people took the time to tell me what they thought about my work, took the time and energy to write about MY WORK in their little comment bubble? ten people?? fifty?? one hundred???

but even just one - if one single person took the time out of their day to tell me how much they appreciate the little bit of my soul I just put out into the world - idk, it just means everything, doesn’t it?

Hopper accidentally becomes the biggest ally in Hawkins out of hatred for Mike Wheeler. El wants to date Max? Perfect, Mike is terrified of Max. El wants to date Max and Lucas? Even better, more people to keep Mike away. Will comes out to Joyce and Hop? Hopper is immediately studying up on gay culture and flagging so he can find him a Hop ApprovedTM boyfriend. He sees that nice boy Gareth cuff his jeans one time and starts inviting him to family dinner. Mike seems annoyed that Steve is spending more time with Munson? A pamphlet titled “Accepting your Bisexuality” finds its way into Steve’s jacket pocket. Hopper has never seen Mike as furious as the day Steve and Munson arrive at dinner holding hands. It’s a good day. Hopper isn’t sure how Nancy dating the Buckley girl will annoy Mike, but he’s willing to give it a shot.

Punk!Steve is exactly the type of punk to let little kids feel his jacket spikes if they ask. Same with tattoos, he doesn’t mind them touching them and asking about them. He’ll tell them why he got them, the story to go along with them, and who drew them for him. Similarly he takes requests for what color his hair should be next since he’s more picky about style than color.
