Small AU fanfic where Etho got the "I love you" task for session three :3 Excerpt under the cut

Tell someone you love them and have them say it back unprompted. 1 attempt per player. total of 3 required to pass.

Etho considered the task thoughtfully. That… should be easy? Of course, he'd thought that before.

He said goodbye to Cleo and resisted the urge to tell her he loved her. That'd make it way too obvious. He should at least wait a few hours after the tasks were given out.

So he tended the farm and fed the cows for a bit, until Bdubs came over.

Bdubs sheared his sheep and chatted amicably about his new base plan while Etho tried to figure out how to slip in an I love you in a way that was natural.

"Soon I won't have any reason to come over," Bdubs realized aloud. He had taken to pacing as he waited for the sheep's wool to regrow.

"You can just come over because… I love you," Etho replied, already patting himself on the back.

Bdubs blinked at him, then laughed. "I love you too! But that's a mean task."

"What? No no no…"

"Wait, is that actually your task? Oh that's horrible! You should just reroll now!"

Etho ignored him for the moment, double checking the wording in his book.

"Dude, don't just check it right in front of me! You're too obvious…"

It didn't say that someone catching him meant it didn't count… He decided Bdubs still counted and pocketed the book again.

"Nah, that's not my task," Etho reiterated, and Bdubs just rolled his eyes.

"If I was yellow right now, you'd be caught! You have to be more subtle. Like me- I've been completing my task as we speak!"

idk if this works timing-wise but something personal to tango would be how much he works on decked out, so like something about how "he would rather spend time on his games/decked out/redstone than with his actual friends"? Idk just spitballing

What should Etho say that would make them both be like '... oh damn he went there' ? I've been stuck with that part for months.
